Oscillating ship when SASing
Slam_Jones replied to seyss's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
You might need to put some struts from the tank up to the trusses. If you don't have it yet, I recommend Kerbal Attachment System, which gives you (among other things) struts that can be placed and moved while in flight. Edit: Another option might be to add SAS to the ends of the trusses to keep em stable. -
Maybe if you're running a supercomputer! o.o

Tweakable rover wheels
Slam_Jones replied to Crusher48's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I think it'd be cool to have different 'gears' for the wheels (such as low-range for steep hills, high range for flats, etc.), but not really necessary. Maybe there's a mod that does this? -
It's certainly possible. Even without mods, all planets and stuff are rendered, regardless of where you are. The majority of the time, that render will be a pixel in size (or smaller, so you can't see it at all), but it's definitely possible that what you saw was Jool. Seeing where you were in regards to the Solar System would help prove that answer, though.

Do some biomes provide more science?
Slam_Jones replied to Solarapple's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I just don't get why they thought that was necessary... or even a remotely good idea. You don't need that science, and even if you did, there's the Admin building... Unless it's a precursor to having micro-biomes on all bodies, it just seems pointless. The vast, VAST majority of Kerbin is the same biome, so why not, I dunno, change that up a bit? -
I've only been there once, but I can agree it's rather unexciting... I might take a rover there and circumnavigate it one day, though!

Landin is enjoying his Circumnavigation of Kerbin (Yes this is a shameless plug )

I gotta ask: to the people able to do 500+ parts, what kind of framerate are you looking at? Also what processor are you using? (Personally I try to keep everything under 200 parts)

Circumnavigation of Kerbin by Land and Sea [Completed!!!]
Slam_Jones replied to Slam_Jones's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
Sorry guys, no update today! I got a little distracted by another game I was playing I should be posting my next update on Monday. Well, kinda hard to explain in words, but basically, you mouse over the KER tab in the upper-right (while following a vessel). From there, you should see some buttons. The one you want is at the bottom (I believe) and says something like "Make a new window/box/something". You click on that and it brings up a dialog box where you choose which stats will be shown, and you can choose to have it in a box (like the regular KER window) or in HUD-style, like you've seen on my sceenies. Hope that helps! Because the intent it to travel it by land and sea. By air is too simple... much easier to attain and maintain higher speeds, less issue with water, etc. etc. If you mean why didn't I build one for Jeb to refuel Landin with, well, Jeb REALLY wanted to try landing that VTOL in the water, and now that he's done it successfully, I don't think I can get him into a different vehicle! Yep, exactly! -
Circumnavigation of Kerbin by Land and Sea [Completed!!!]
Slam_Jones replied to Slam_Jones's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
*Brofist* Thanks, dude. I like the way you went about it. I might try something similar in my next attempt (And yes I'll probably be doing another circumnavigation once this one's done ) -
Continued my Circumnavigation of Kerbin! So far I've (nearly) reach the halfway point. Turns out it's a bit more efficient on water than I thought, so the going has been rather smooth.

Circumnavigation of Kerbin by Land and Sea [Completed!!!]
Slam_Jones replied to Slam_Jones's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
I think, now that I've completed Part 4, that I'm basically halfway around. Should be smooth going for the next few segments, as it'll be mostly land. Anywho, Part 4 is now online! Check it out! -
I usually start a new career after each patch. And then a sandbox. And then maybe another career. And another sandbox cuz the last one is full or has nothing going on. And then another career, and then....

Circumnavigation of Kerbin by Land and Sea [Completed!!!]
Slam_Jones replied to Slam_Jones's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
Hm, never would have anticipated that! I haven't had to do any on-water refuels yet, but I'll keep that in mind when I do -
Circumnavigation of Kerbin by Land and Sea [Completed!!!]
Slam_Jones replied to Slam_Jones's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
Thanks! I added a modlist to the original post. As for the chute icon, I think that's part of the USI Kolonization, I think used to transfer resources or something to that effect. -
Finished Leg Two of my Circumnavigation of Kerbin by Land and Sea. Landin is enjoying the drive, and Jeb is enjoying the naps!

The Elcano Challenge : Ground-based circumnavigation
Slam_Jones replied to Fengist's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Heh, I'm actually using TAC-LS, so I might be able to provide some numbers on food and water consumed after the next leg -

Part Two of my journey has been completed!!! It went a lot smoother than the first segment, and Landin and Jeb are both loving the trip! Check out the thread and my post on page 3 to see how far I've gotten.
