  1. Hi Zanda, thanks for the ideas I will keep them in mind when I develop this more.
  2. This was an SSTO Seaplane with Hydroplaning skids And this was just a sexy seaplane
  3. I took my own advice and ditched the lander and ascent vehicle and added a Drill and ISRU, rebuilt the fuselage with some extra tankage, Cargo Bays and some STOL/VTOL aerospikes, a few other bits and peices. 3200ms in LKO, not bad eh? With the ability to land and refuel itself on small moons or even the surface of Duna or Laythe, it truly is an SSTNA (Single Stage To Nearly Anywhere) *taps nose at @Majorjim Shakedown with a quick trip to orbit and back (first a beauty shot), I only circularised on the nukes, the rest I did with the rapiers. Still plenty of oxidiser left for a VTOL or STOL landing on the aerospikes. I actually got down on the runway at under 150ms, but could not stop in time before the end, I just needed to touch down a couple of hundred metres earlier, I should have put chutes on it. It still had a big load of fuel onboard, that's what I am blaming.
  4. Ever wondered what a 747 that was meant to go to space would look like? Exciting, 2000ms+ before 30km, I have my physics customised so I don't get much in the way of effects, If I see flames somethings about to blow up. There were flames for a pretty long time. With a little refuel it's got 3000ms in LKO, that's enough for a Laythe round trip, right? right? I know it can be done, but you need a Mun assist and aerobrake at Jool into a Tylo gravity assist to get to Laythe and then Aerobrake again. It's not child's play, good windows are required. It should do Duna even without a refuel. Kind of sad though, making it an SSTO means I could land and take off again, sort of invalidates the whole lander and return vehicle concept, I would be better off ditching the other craft and replacing them with a tank, about 100 less parts and bigger margins.
  5. Objectively I like the sleek looks, but the triumph of aesthetic over form comes at the price of a view! From my own perspective I try to limit my clipping to my own rules, so if a tank is going to clip into a passenger compartment it should be empty, makes me feel warm and fuzzy to imagine the rest of the tank is actually non-existant and the Kerbal is not squashed against a wall. I don't know if you have done that here, but I think I hear some muffled noises coming from the aft compartment.
  6. I went back to my preferred SSTO wing layout and this time it is truly an SSTO, in orbit with a ton of gas remaining, probably more than twice what I had before, KER bugged out on me though and would not show how much dV, this shows the bays open and the craft within the craft, I think it's about 2088m/s. I have a fair whack of oxidiser left, so I am thinking I can dispense with the forward rocket tank and go all liquid, just using the oxidiser in the 800's which still have a puff left, that should net me a few more ms. So I can probably get to Laythe at least.
  7. This should probably be in challenges, also what does reloadable mean? Most weapons are not reloadable without a trip to the hangar. It's also traditional to provide an example craft so people understand better what you mean.
  8. OK in orbit with 800m/s dV left, if I refuel it would have 3200dV, easily do Duna, Laythe might be a bit harder with those margins, it should aerobrake Ok since it can re-enter. If I refuel and slap a small tank on the front, I could easily add another 1 or 2k of dV and make the trip easily, now can I do that without a refuel and extra tank. Another ~4K dV remaining in orbit, it's gonna be tough. Maybe I will rename it to Duna Mission instead.
  9. These parts I just decoupled I think are leaving god rays I shouldn't have F2'd before taking the screenshot or you would see the debris markers, so there's some unnecessary calculation going on there
  10. If you upload it to KerbalX it will automatically list your mods and give you a download location as well. While you are here try out Azimech's Enterprise and others star trek craft they are amazing
  11. Well it hasn't got there yet, not enough fuel, almost into orbit, then I need what? 3k dV and 3k dV back...pppfffft easy (I have no idea how I will make this work) Edit: shudder...I might have to mine
  12. Project Matroyska is moving along, Laythe SSTO tested to almost orbit on Kerbin after blasting vertically out of the mk2 lander/boat/rover, decided to ditch the tilting mechanism and go with rockets to get it out, the hinges would have looked cool but the part count was getting astronomical, 200 parts on the runway at the moment, looks like an SSTO, but it's actually an Interstellar craft with a lander/boat/rover inside and inside that is the Laythe SSTO. Oh it's also the Kerbin return vehicle, and glides our adventurers back in style. Both this and the laythe lander/boat/rover craft tested on re-entry
  13. You could save some parts by using fairings for the wheels to run on, better surface too. Also no offset limits to get rid of those cubic octagonal struts, and use a normal strut if you want it to look connected, that's 30-40 parts right there with those two changes. What was that guys name who used to come in every now and again and post absolutely amazing huge devices, he used fairing cases for a moving lifty thing. No it moved by screwing up and down!
  14. I used spider engines, just attach to frame and then attach wheel to engine, add more as needed
  15. Sorry late at night and I forgot the link but its on KerbalX you can see my link in my sig, I will put the download link up in a jiffy.
  16. It actually works really well too, and...rockets!
  17. Saw a neat Dune Buggy on Reddit called the Duna Buggy, but the guy didn't want to share too many mods and such. It wasn't stock so I wouldn't have downloaded it anyway. I thought I could make a good enough version for stock though, so introducing the Stock Duna Buggy, along with some Vagani suspension (which will not stop things exploding if you jump the administration building like I did) it has about 500ms of dV (enough to get you to orbit on the Mun) *note: Warranty void if used off Kerbin 48 Parts Download Jumping the Administration building and other perfectly reasonable testing, music for video still a minute or two away
  18. I have built so many of these it's not funny. This is the one currently used in The Dunatian, nice, simple, low parts, functional An older model where the petals opened onto mini docking ports, some legs pushed a couple open and the rover was attached to a panel And then there were the more lookalike replicas that used all sorts of things from Seperatons to Landing legs to move the panels Didn't have thermometer hinges back then, could probably do a much more decent version these days, but then part count is an issue, when you drive a 100 part rover within a kilometre of a hundred part probe and rover on Duna, bad things happen. Which is why we ended up with the one we did. I also made my first kraken drive this way Gifs http://i.imgur.com/VOEhLim.gifv another one
  19. You know I've updated KerbPaint, the stock mk1 cockpits work now
  20. That's an EVE thing anyway not an SVE thing. Ok, the only thing I found was this in the logs [ERR 21:30:06.806] [SurfaceObject]: Cannot return to original parent, it no longer exists. [LOG 21:30:06.807] [Kopernicus]: Fixed SpaceCenterCamera But this only showed up after exiting the SPH when I got the grass Screenshot, the FPS is bottomed out at 30 and the physics is solid yellow, with a tiny plane Here with just EVE installed instead of SVE you can see my framerate hasn't bottomed out, and feels much more fluid, the physics was fluctuating between green and yellow Of course this does not mean anything is wrong with SVE, it may be my graphics card struggling, and as you said it is loading much bigger textures, but I am not running out of memory, I have about half of what plain EVE has, anyway I just thought I should let you know what I found.
