  1. Azimech or sgt_flyer might have better versions, I remember them using similar bearings.
  2. Engine Testbed, the SMA 6 Cylinder Radial engine, 100 parts 1.6 tons, not quite working yet, had to go 6 by symmetry for panel placement and it's tighter than a...
  3. Lighter, but not less parts and not really superior in any way. Wanted to try out the elevons to see if rotating elevons created as much drag as static ones. On the good side it rotates faster. On the bad side, before it starts rotating the elevons cause severe control issues, and it's worth noting the throttle is full and that plane is usually capable of somewhere north of 180m/s in close to level flight. But with elevons 90m/s <- see Columbia Not sure whats wrong with the gif, maybe it takes a while to become visible, you can see html5 video here
  4. Not saying you should do it for him, but couldn't you do it with a simple text replace, and then add some fuel in the SPH for flight, actually three text replaces Monopropellent, Liquid Fuel and Oxidiser.
  5. Trying to stay away from the docking ports, they get way too squirelly
  6. OK with my fairing bearing and a lightweight 2 bladed antennae prop, not even a nose cone, the minimum turn speed is about 90m/s to keep it turning. That may vary with different AoA of the blades, but it does not seem to make too much difference. You will need to do a slight roll to get it started at that speed. Download Thats for 39 parts and .6 ton, not too bad. - - - Updated - - - I think I can bring down the weight and maybe the part count a little, off to the labs
  7. Yeah I understood that about the prop weight, I was talking overall weight not being a problem, maybe it is because I am trying to turn three blades (for authenticity)
  8. It's no problem, I am no pro at bearings, I have played around with them a bit discovered a kraken drive for rovers, gave it up as a bad deal, but I have been testing some of the tanks, and while their turrets usually leave a lot to be desired, some were not completely sucky. The one I have now is slow, but very solid, with reaction wheels I can get it as fast as the low g freewheeler and it does not even quiver. I tried your ones already on the other thread, thats where I got some inspiration. But I think mine is more solid than those at the moment. 1ton is nothing to the bombers we are building, so the weight is not much of an issue, the bombers are slow though and are usually only traveling 60-90ms, I have found this is just borderline for most of the freewheeling designs to actually spin.
  9. Don't use Elevons on your props, use the flat rectangular antennae, the elevons do all sorts of horrible things to drag and your flight profile, I just got another 10ms out of the Wellington by swapping them. Also if you have CoM/CoL problems don't put wings inside, instead clip in a non-functional jet engine and move it around to change your CoM lots less drag and control problems.
  10. Thanks to Flipnascar for help with the bearing, decided to go a different direction. I wanted a bearing for the freewheeling props that moved faster and was more durable (sometimes you do make extreme manoeuvres even in a bomber). I have half, sorry about the Youtube vid for 15.5 seconds. It weighs about a ton with 43 parts, but it can take high g manoeuvres but is even slower than Flipnascars.
  11. You probably don't even need wings on that, just some canards.
  12. That nosecone does not look stock, are you sure?, if your using Venn's or something beware it may not be exactly the same stock.
  13. I was gonna say a periscope - - - Updated - - - The bearing was not stuck, when I rolled it stayed still or turned a little, just would not turn on it's own.
  14. Whenever I get a craft from dropbox (got one from flipnascar that did not do this, maybe user error) or mediafire it has a .txt at the end, which is a pain to fix on my mac, plus the popups.
  15. My Jool Grand Tour ship (not completed) was supposed to be 2xSSTO inside an SSTO (but Tylos an ass so I made a staged lander instead, I got the Tylo SSTO working but the it takes many many many many landing attempts). Edit: Note my improved MK 3 cockpit, you can get the subassembly here
  16. I hate Mediafire and Dropbox, just wanted to say that, Kerbalx and Google Drive
  17. I've done a non hinged SSTO VTOL, the weight is the main concern, I tried to go all liquid (or very little oxidiser) with a nuke though (for range), with just Rapiers it might be better.
  18. Nope, does not work for me. Do you have Stock Bug Fix Modules installed? The editor is so pissing me off at the moment, stuff that's radial symmetry goes to mirror and theres no way to get it to go back, gah - - - Updated - - - It looked like the oscar-b was hard up against the first cubic strut so I offset to give a bit of clearance, no joy.
  19. I bet a good storm would blow it away I'm not going to test fly it, but I'm sure Mad Rocket Scientist will!
  20. If you don't use an elevon does the antenna have wnough aerodynamic force to spin it?
  21. Has anyone got a good part for that, all mine are way too big?
  22. I have not tested this yet, but I am going to, it may fry my computer, I don't care.
  23. LOL, I'm thinking of burying another jet inside the fuselage where it can't be seen, if I can stop it being blocked, just to add a bit of extra top speed, maybe you could get a ram jet in there? - - - Updated - - - Also you can attach the oxstats to edges and cubic strut frames, they can be offset and rotated really far to cover gaps, plus they reflect, which looks good in the glamour shots, apparently Kerbpaint can recolour them too, I am going to test that later. - - - Updated - - - Your nose is very draggy and heavy, I have an Improved MK3 cockpit that will help Download also lots of wings mean lots of drag, the Big-S wings would be better, but probably won't fit aesthetically.
