CommNet Signal Strength Calculator & Antenna Selector
Poodmund replied to Poodmund's topic in KSP1 Tutorials
All the combinability exponents are listedin the 'Antennas' sheet for your perusal. However, off the top of my head, I can tell you that they all have a value of 0,75 except for the Communotron 16 which has a value of 1 and the 16S which has a value of 0. Also nothing combines with the DSN obviously.- 86 replies

[1.2] Galileo's Planet Pack (development thread) [v0.9]
Poodmund replied to Galileo's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
On the Lili appearing spherical issue, can you not push the Scaled Space -> PQS fade in range further out so basically the player will still see the PQS at a range where the resolution of the moon on the screen is small enough that the switch to a spherical shape isn't as noticeable?- 1,030 replies

CommNet Signal Strength Calculator & Antenna Selector
Poodmund replied to Poodmund's topic in KSP1 Tutorials
Update: Implemented Range Modifier and DSN Modifier difficulty settings to allow you to input the values on your difficulty sliders to give you the information for you custom difficulty games. I am pretty sure I've implemented this correctly, if you find any inconsistencies, please let me know.- 86 replies

[1.2] Galileo's Planet Pack (development thread) [v0.9]
Poodmund replied to Galileo's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
On the subject of Geysers, they shouldn't actually be too hard as you can lock the rotation down to the planetary surface and then add a volumetric particle cloud that primarily has speed in the y-axis and jitter mostly in the y-axis. You could add two layers super imposed at slightly different altitudes with the upper layer having a large scale jitter to simulate a Geyser plume.- 1,030 replies

[WEB] Visual RemoteTech Planner for MOD RemoteTech
Poodmund replied to ryohpops's topic in KSP1 Tools and Applications
As your altitude increases, your orbital velocity decreases and therefore your Orbital Period (time taken to make a full revolution) increases dramatically. Due to this effect, you are travelling a lot slower past the planet when you are occluded from the Sun and therefore your 'Dark Time' length increases. I hope this makes sense. -
RemoteTech Antenna Selector/Spreadsheet

KSP CommNet Signal Strength Calculator & Antenna Selector Stock + OPM System: Link (When you open the links above, please save a copy to your own Google Account to be able to edit for yourself) This document allows you to view the antennas utilized by CommNet to aid you in the preparation for missions to specific bodies or to determine signal strengths between vessels before launch. ----------------------------------- Antenna Selector Sheet The 'Antenna Selector' sheet allows you to pick enter a specified range between vessels and enter which antennas you require to give you a signal strength that is suitable for the application. You can also get a visualization of the signal strength between all major celestial bodies with the currently entered antenna setup. There is also a separate sheet for use with Near Future: Exploration's reflector mechanic. ----------------------------------- Antennas Sheet The 'Antennas' sheet allows you to view all the antennas listed by the creator/mod pack grouping and all their individual statistics. Here you can enable/disable the antennas from the mods you are using. ----------------------------------- Systems Stats Sheet The 'System Stats' sheet lists details about all the available bodies to chose from if you wish to make your own calculations or assumptions. ----------------------------------- Form Submission I have included a link on the 'Antennas' sheet to a Google Form where you can submit details of antennas you wish for me to include on the spreadsheet. The submissions should auto-fill into the 'Form Submissions' sheet for later review. Useful for mod authors to submit their own CommNet module stats for their antenna parts. ----------------------------------- Please let me know what you think, any mistakes I have made, any ways I can improve this etc. etc. Hopefully you find this useful for your own games. KSP CommNet Antenna Selector - Stock + OPM System: Link P.S. This document was built off of my original KSP RemoteTech Antenna Selector document, if you are interested in RemoteTech, please visit the forum post for this calculator: Link ----------------------------------- For great visualizations of the antenna ranges at the various DSN levels, also be sure to check out @Kergarin & @wile1411's illustrations that can be found here. They are super useful.

[1.11] RemoteTech v1.9.9 [2020-12-19]
Poodmund replied to tomek.piotrowski's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Yeah isn't CommNet's Relay and Antenna functions pretty much the same as RT's distinction between Antennas and Omni-antennas with RT's antenna module just not being able to take a signal and relay it through a single antenna? -

I been super busy at work recently so I've been coming back home and just crashing out. I have most of the Otho system finished. So basically, from Otho outwards I know we are sorted as far as biomes go on my end.- 1,030 replies

If you want to see what LandControl can do, just look into the .cs script: https://github.com/Kopernicus/Kopernicus/blob/development/Kopernicus/Kopernicus/Configuration/ModLoader/LandControl.cs If you don't know about coherent noise, you'll want to read up on this: http://libnoise.sourceforge.net/glossary/index.html#coherentnoise If you want an example of LandControl use in game for adding Scatter etc., view SVE's Kopernicus config file for Kerbin. -

I've whipped up another at the special request from forum user @Errol who wrote a very heartfelt plea to try to create something that he would like to see in game. The result was the merging of the Milky Way skybox at an angled tilt with the Deep Star Map skybox layered over to increase the star field density with a few extra bits dotted here and there. I think I have achieved what Errol requested, so I'll let him try it out and respond. Obviously the gif doesn't do it true justice. Download link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/hkfkqy3c2hgta0d/PoodsTiltedMilkyWay.zip?dl=0 I strongly advise the use of... ... when using the skyboxes and adjusting the "Dynamic Skybox Brightness" to suit your liking as to whether you like it bright or dark in certain situations as you ascend etc.

[1.2] Galileo's Planet Pack (development thread) [v0.9]
Poodmund replied to Galileo's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
Also, just finished up Argo. That means all bodies from Gauss outwards have now been done biome wise. 12/26 done... just 14 requiring confirmation to go. Also, @OhioBob, it would be nice if you could also request to view the Biome sheet above and give a look through the biomes to make sure the names correlate to the geography for specific bodies i.e. Glaciers on ice worlds etc. EDIT: And again, a sneak peak at the areas you will be visiting: http://imgur.com/a/5bnbO (Biome locations not disclosed )- 1,030 replies

[1.11] RemoteTech v1.9.9 [2020-12-19]
Poodmund replied to tomek.piotrowski's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Well it does but its a hard 0% or 100%. What stock is implementing is that a lower Signal Strength doesn't impede control but Science Amount transmissions are reduced. Occlusion however is a feature of both.
