  1. I nominate Mulbin's Munbug series, they set the bar for Apollo/LRO Mun missions!
  2. MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!! Oh boy, I love the A-20, it's the most OP plane in the game!
  3. The engine is clipped inside the part, so the line of sight that is required to be free for the engine to produce thrust is not obstructed by anything. At least I think that's how it works. Gimbal has to be disabled, or else the thrust would drop off when the engine swivels upward, because the thrust vector would be pointing into the rudder or elevators.
  4. Well, I already had the thing built and knew how it performed with the wheesley, so I just left it there. It's less obvious than it was, because the engine is white now. All the pics in the OP are from 1.0.4.
  5. If you've played War Thunder, you will know the P-26. If you haven;t played it and still know the plane, I commend you. The P-26 Peashooter is an American fighter plane designed and flown in the 1930s. It didn't see much service in WWII due to how outclassed it was by the Luftwaffe's Bf-109s and Fw-190s, but it did see some service against the Japanese in China. My Peashooter is capable of carrying a 100lb bomb underneath the fuselage, making it suitable for dive bombing. Although it can't wreck buildings, it can destroy tanks or jeeps, provided you can hit them with it! Maneuverability is good, although not stellar, although I believe this accurately reflects the real plane's handling characteristics. The handling changes very little after the bomb is dropped, although to someone who is unfamiliar with this style of plane, it can be a little difficult. Takeoff and landing can be difficult as well. Is is recommended to jettison the bomb before landing for extra safety, and lower the flaps (AG-1) to decrease speed as much as possible. Keep the nose level with the horizon so they main gear touches down first, then cautiously apply the brakes (on and off, not for more than two seconds) until the tailwheel touches the ground. Once all three wheels are down, brake until stopped. Overall, it is a very fun plane to fly, quite fast, although not as maneuverable as my Fokker Dr.I. It is very detailed while only having 134 parts, so almost anyone can fly it! TRY IT FOR YOURSELF HERE As always, thank you for taking the time to view this, please let me know your thoughts, and rep if you liked!
  6. I somehow did not think of this idea. You deserve to be a real engineer.
  7. I think my U-boat has become sentient and has a sense of self preservation. After numerous attempts to keep it from capsizing, I grew tired of its tricks and decided to end it once and for all by bombing it with my P-26. I guess the Peashooter is really my first 1.0.5 craft, since it performed as well as it could against the evil power of the dive capable U-boat. Even with those stupid outrigger floats, the damn thing won't stay upright! I'm sorry, boat, but I have to end you. You've gone mad, you'll destroy us all!!! VENGEANCE!!!!! No Target? What... the hell? Where did it go? Yeah... It definitely isn't there... Skynet is active! Very well, if I can;t kill the monster, I will kill the forge from whence he came!!! Damn. They make these things tough as nails, don't they? I've gone from listening to the triumphant German marching songs to somber Russian dirges. If you'll excuse me, I'm going to go sit in a corner and cry... Hopefully 1.0.5 is going better for you guys.
  8. You seem to know something I do not. I have equipped the U-boat with 54 wheesleys facing downwards, it barely moves, or would if it didn't capsize the whole time.
  9. Time to make a real dive capable version of Das Boot!
  10. Great, now I get to rebuild my P-26 to accommodate the new jet turbines. Thanks, Squad!
  11. It does appear more practical, but I personally like the look of the Mk3 monopropellant tank better, at least in this particular craft. I will look at making a smaller, more portable version, however.
  12. Granted, but he destroys it so that nobody else can enjoy it either I wish it were Friday, not Monday
  13. Alright, I think I'm going to release it this afternoon (provided I have time) so I can get it out before 1.0.5 breaks it. I can build a pack off of it and possibly my Fokker triplane. EDIT: Change of plans; I have to rebuild it first to make sure it still works with the new jet engine models. Hopefully the turbines don't take up that much room.
  14. The P-26 has turned out better than I could have hoped, I even managed to fit a 100lb bomb underneath the cockpit! Well, its destructive power may not be great enough to kill buildings, but I bet you could wreck a tank or jeep with the bomb if you were accurate (dive bomb that sucker). The Peashooter is, in all regards, complete and ready for release. I think I want to release a pack of "Golden Age" planes, ranging from pre-WWI aircraft to WWI piston engine planes, but I don't know what I can build that hasn't been done already or won't seem unique enough to warrant building it. Besides, I don't want to build another one of these right now, it can get tiring. Can you people give me your opinion? Should I release this as a stand-alone craft, make a pack of planes and then release it with them, or release it now and build a pack off of it?
  15. My PC automatically runs it at ultralow, but even at that level, it's still a pretty game. I really don't mind War Thunder ultralow at the moment, but I'm going to look into getting a higher level working.
  16. I think the turbines look cool, but they will break a lot of designs. I like to build World War era fighter planes, but since KSP doesn't have propeller engines, I have to use a jet clipped somewhere inside. This works fine now, but when the turbines come, it's going to be difficult, if not impossible, to continue to build planes in this style. I'm not sure if this has been suggested already, but if we get giant, cumbersome turbines for jet engines, we also need good old fashioned propeller engines. TL;DR: turbines are cool, but propellers are cooler.
  17. Today I found out that fuel is actually a thing in War Thunder... I was flying on Norway, and there was only one guy left on the enemy team, but he kept hiding, and wouldn't even respond to our team;s repeated calls for him to come out and die with honor, so the match kept going and going until the hour long(!) time limit ran out. Unfortunately for me, I has only taken on thirty minutes of fuel when I landed to rearm. I would have made it back to the airfield, but Gaijin decided to surround it with mountains that kept me from gliding to a safe landing.
  18. I added a small docking port on the bottom of the flyer. It ruins its sleek lines, but it allows it to dock with stations or surface based launch sites, such as the one in the pictures below. This launchpad has lots of monopropellant for servicing the Dragonfly, and doesn't have too many parts, so you can cluster two or three together on the Mun pr Minmus to make a Dragonfly base. The problem is I have no idea how to actually get it to the Mun...
  19. Hmm, the second SAS is probably unnecessary, there is already one clipped inside the main body. The landing legs could be clipped inside the body like mine to save space as well. The probe core isn't the first part because when designing it, I had originally planned to control it from the seat, but later decided that control from that orientation would be needed if the Dragonfly were to be used to make orbit, if I can remember, I will try and rebuild it with the probe core in mind. I haven't tried it, but given Gilly's pathetic Gravity, the Dragonfly would probably be ludicrously overpowered.
  20. Yep, the P-26. It flies as well as you would expect it, although it isn't super maneuverable. Thanks to the jet engine, it goes pretty fast, almost too fast. I just need to add some struts to keep the side panels from flopping around during flight and possibly revise the hump behind the pilot's seat.
