  1. The orbit is slightly inclinated enough to not collide with any planets, and it's just below the Jool orbit. I used The White Guardian's youtube tutorial mostly, but you can also (as a test) use some code from other planet packs as a template. I'm saying as a template because if you do a direct copy-paste it's technically not your code. You need SpaceEngine (it's free) and Paint.Net (also free) and Notepad++ (also free). Here's a quick rundown of what you do when you have your code template: Make a folder called your mod. Place three folders inside - Cache, PluginData and Configs. Inside plugin data is where your heightmap, color map and normal map go. Now, open up SpaceEngine. I'm not so good at it either, but for now, since it's your first planet, just find any old one with NO atmosphere. Select the planet by clicking on it, press escape to open the menu and click Editor > Export Planet. Uncheck everything except for: Surface, Colormap, elevation map, normal map. Set your resolution to 4096 or 8192 (4k or 8k). Depending on how good your PC is, it may take a moment. Don't worry if it stops responding. Now go to your space engine folder (where you installed it) and find Export. Place all those files into your PluginData folder (in your mod). The colormap is the colourful image, the height map is the black and white image, the normal map is purple-ish. Rename your files to: (Your planet)_color, (your planet)_height, (your planet)_normal. Now in the tutorial by the white guardian, he does a good job of explaining how the different parts of the code works. I recommend searching that on YouTube Good luck! Many thanks!
  2. Note: this is not yet downloadable, nor will it be until it or many others are complete. Yesterday morning I decided "Hey. Let's make planets!" After 7 long hard hours of analysing and doing my best to interpret the Kopernicus format, my first ever planet is nearly complete. The planet is called Olei (placeholder name, pronounced: "Oh Lie" or "Oh Lay") I've spent most of today ironing out the issues for it, and making the next two planets for a *possible* modpack! The next planet is called Dusk, because well... It looks like (dust?) Dusk! It's aimed at a smaller, non-atmospheric version of Duna with a more brown texture. Those spots are NOT volcanoes, just brighter splashes of colour. Reference orbit body: Eve at roughly 12,000,000m Here's Niebos, an earth-like planet. The black on the surface will be replaced with water once I learn how to do that. It has an atmosphere depth of 60,000 and some very rough terrain, as I'm still getting used to SpaceEngine. There are flat beaches to land on, similarly to Laythe, with some great base-making spots. Please, if you have a moment, I'd really appreciate some feedback on these planets. If you want me to turn this into an official mod, please drop a reply below! Have a GREAT day!
  3. Edit: So the forum put all the spoilers inside one another.... To see the rest, please view the textures and expand the spoilers inside that, as it's confusing me to try and move the spoilers. Hello! I recently started to make a planet that Kopernicus would be using in the game. Sadly, the game/kopernicus doesn't seem to be picking up the planet mod. I have the heightmap, the colormap and the normal map exported from SpaceEngine in the .dds format. You can see them below: PLEASE NOTE: The textures below are downsized versions. The textures I am working with are 8k textures!
  4. Speedbuild and Flight of the grand SSTO to Minmus! Flight of the 'dramatic' communications relay to Minmus!
  5. Hello! I decided i would create a sped up version of my 2 hour mission to dump a rover on Minmus for later (MK3 SSTO with a base payload will send up a communications tower on Minmus). But something went wrong..... ENJOY!
  6. Oh, that must be the problem - I must have my launch set to 32 bit instead of 64 bit. I hope that's the cause of the crashes, as I had Stock Visual Enhancements at max quality - probably exceeded the RAM limit.
  7. Hello! I have a huge problem. Seemingly randomly in the game, I get a crash (64 bit). It happened on the way to landing with my small probe (all stock parts on the probe apart from the lifter). About 1000 metres from touchdown, the game crashed. Upon touchdown using the same craft, the game crashed. Here's my output.log:
  8. Things to note: OBS recording files do not import into Premiere Pro (I know you said free, but still a headsup), so I wouldn't recommend OBS. Also that chews CPU. Fraps is what I generally use and it is easy to get it for free. No drop in performance on my end at all and good to use. only downside is large file sizes bit since I have a 3T HDD nothing wrong with that. Shadow play is an option to, but I HATE the new GeForce Experience layout
  9. Glad you're enjoying the game and welcome to the forums! To space! *ahem* To... The ground! For the moment anyway!
  10. Hello kerbanaughts! Sorry to bring this question up, but I have been getting some noticeable lag when using the Scatterer mod. To try and help this, I have turned 'Ocean Shaders' off. Still, no use and i would really like to use the atmospheric effects. Ksp version: 1.2 GPU (probably most important here) Asus 1080 strix (reference card: NVIDIA GTX 1080) CPU: Intel 4790k at 4.0 GHz 16 GB RAM The lag is probably down to about 40 frames with.... 1 part on the launchpad. And then, with more parts, it starts to go further and further down, when before I could manage ¬800 parts with playable FPS. Please can somebody help me? I highly doubt I should be getting this lag with my GPU, and shaders are GPU based, not CPU (afaik). Other mods I am using: Various part mods, EVE. (the lag started as soon as I installed Scatterer, and goes away when i remove it.)
  11. Nothing out of the ordinary loading. No spam, no errors. After removing and reinstalling the mod, it still causes considerable lag. I have also disabled ocean shaders. Version: 1.2
  12. Small issue with the ocean shaders. I'm using an Asus 1080 Strix (reference, GTX 1080) GPU and an intel 4790k CPU at 4.0 GHz. And boy has the framerate taken a dump with over 200 parts. As in, noticeable lag (when I shouldn't be getting any since shaders = GPU).
  13. Small update: Sorry for the editing error near the start where it shows multiple planes when there's only 1 flying later. I got the scenes mixed up in Premiere! Not really a big issue, only a 10 second clip
  14. I'm on my phone again, BUT I live streamed the painstaking 8 hour mission spanning over 400 years. Here's the link if you want to see the craft, I'll probably link the launch since a lot of the live stream was in map view. Here you go! PS: Starts at *about* 3-5 minutes in when I launch. That's the best look at it. Other than that, the moon landings. Tylo got me good and proper, but I limped to Vall. Also, I completed the challenge today! I did an Eve atmospheric flyby which counts towards the challenge which is nice! https://www.twitch.tv/gameslinx/v/95308557
  15. In the style of Danny and Nexter's Lab... I present my own take on "funny moments"! I'm starting a new series with some other really cool people, Matik2002, Sylver and myself. We decided to make a 'tv series'-like series on the channel, and so there will be a few of these videos dotted around my usual ones.I feel like i really want to re-visit Kerbal Space Program again, because I really enjoyed it last time, and I know a lot more about it now. So prepare for some more challenges! Of course I won't upload JUST Kerbal Space Program so don't get worried.I spent a good few days on this video, even though it looks a bit short. That's because I'm learning Premiere Pro CS5 (2015) and it's pretty difficult to start with. I hope you enjoy the video and I would really appreciate it if you guys left a like (and smashed that sub button with a pancake). Sidenote: please don't get mad at me if it seems like I "copied" Danny and Nexter - They are really successful with their videos and it seems with my others that I'm doing something wrong. Aside from that, the video is from the characters' Point of View instead of my own/narration. I hope you enjoy!
  16. In answer to your first part - it's for 'boasting rights'. I want to do the grand tour mission in an SSTO. All I need to do now is take off from eve - I'm landed
  17. So I want to make a large, stationary landing pad above KSC on Kerbin There's some things we need: Option to set the craft to "hover mode" which is Drone core only. Drones have this ability today. The ship does just that - hovers until fuel runs out. With physics warp, it is put on rails but uses fuel 4x as fast for 4x warp. For 10000x warp, it uses fuel 10,000 times as fast but stays perfectly still. If you want to land on it, the drone will instantly adjust the thrust of engines to stabilise the landing zone like a VTOL. In the case it cannot do this, the craft will begin to lean. What do we need? Pipes. Pipes which can pump ore and process it at the top, turning it into fuel for the hovering landing pad. Basically I think landing on artificial aircraft carriers should be a thing, but I'm not really sure how to go about this. I hope you understand
  18. Well usually you would have the shield underneath everything meaning your fuel tanks would be connected. Only way i think: Have a structural pylon or girder stick out of your vessel slightly, and add a fuel line from 1 tank to the girder, and from the girder to the next tank. The girder can be any size - even an OscarB tank
  19. Try doing multiple launches of the base parts with a rocket that has the DV to get to the mun. Use a fairing and keep the Mun transfer stage on the base part in orbit. You are not going to the mun. Launch the other base parts and assemble the base in orbit of Kerbin. Now, if the COM is alligned with all of the engines, you can continue to Duna. Or, you can send up a very big rocket for Jool but attach it to the assembled base. For this, use a 6-way 1.25m connector structural thing, and dock the base parts onto it. Dock the transfer stage to the bottom where the weight will be similar. Though that takes time, it never fails to work for me!
  20. Can confirm this happened to me once but I just assumed I deleted the fairing myself. Another bug is that there are gaps in the runway and tiny but annoying gaps in planetary surfaces. That really needs addressing as it flips up my SSTOs
  21. Stock music is KevinMacleod's music (royalty free) and I got bored of that a long time ago. I prefer NCS playlists / electro / dub step even though space and dubstep never mix!
  22. I hate mechjeb it really feels like cheating. KE is much better as it just provides readouts for your crafts. Mechjeb does everything for you from taking off to docking. Touched mechjeb once, never went back and proud
  23. I was thinking if I could visit eve first, top up as you said on Gilly, send down a small probe with a 1.25m shield and head back up with a nuke or two, and then tap the SSTO in orbit with it to count as a rendezvous, then leave it behind. Or tug it to Kerbin reentry and fill again on my mun. But that's a lot more weight than I'd like to add for getting off Kerbin, but I can try!
  24. I'm planning on finishing my grand tour (ish) mission very soon. I have visited: Kerbin, Minmus, Duna, Ike, Gilly, Moho, Laythe and Pol I have yet to visit: Tylo, Bop, Vall, (Eve?), Eeloo, Dres My problem: With my grand tour mission, Normal mode states that I only have to fly by a planet. But I would like to complete it on hard mode where I have to land on every planet in the system in 1 launch. Super mode - surprise me. So I made an SSTE - single stage to everywhere. Well we all know I am not taking off from eve. Too heavy, not enough lift, too little DV. So if I was to complete Super-hard or Hard mode, am I able to get away with doing an Eve flyby through the atmosphere? I'd like to know that (even in the answer is no) will I still qualify for the grand tour? Obviously since my craft is an SSTO with mining equipment currently parked on Pol, I cannot take off from eve like I said earlier. Pleasep help! I'm 6 hours into the GT and I'd love to qualify for Super-Hard! (In an SSTO!)
