(UNRELEASED) Komorfia : Eye candy in KSP! : Development Thread
Gameslinx replied to Heirloom's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
That is why I said I'd "I don't want to slam this visual mod without playing it" and then "I do look forward to seeing what happens with this mod". I also provided some criticism and solutions, because a lot of people fall into the same pitfalls and I don't want to see someone else make the same mistake. And yes, perhaps I'm not seeing the full picture having not played it, but from what I've seen I'm seeing a lot of familiar stuff. My opinion may change once it's released. Also, my criticism of kottabos' reviews are because there's more to planets than just looking at them. There's gameplay behind them and there's surface features. That's why I specifically did not mention anything to do with the surface here, because I've not played the mod not really seen the surface, but I have seen the cloud maps that look the same as the 5 mods before this. -

Clues in the name : Stock Visual Enhancements. I provide my own visuals, so SVE and SVT are incompatible. Sorry!- 2,454 replies

(UNRELEASED) Komorfia : Eye candy in KSP! : Development Thread
Gameslinx replied to Heirloom's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
Not if done correctly. RE: Stock Visual Enhancements, and my visuals in Beyond Home. And no, the mod doesn't use 4GB of RAM, it uses 8. You said so on the forum thread, which means people will need more than 8GB of ram, and that is not particularly common amongst ksp players. KSP is really not a very graphically demanding game, so there are a lot of people who don't have an amazing rig to play it. The mod looks good, but the swirly clouds on Laythe are cliche and also look like a space engine export, I can't tell if it's been edited or not. I just hope there's gonna be new stuff. The planet wide aurora are my signature thing in 2 of my mods, and one of them is on Laythe already. So nothing new there. There's no motivation for me to choose this mod over AVP or Spectra or SVE or GEA or KSPRC or... You get what I mean, there's so many of these out there already. I just hope there's something new being tried here. -
[1.9.1 - 1.10.x] Beyond Home 1.5.0 (Supports Parallax)
Gameslinx replied to Gameslinx's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Not near the desert airfield, near the main KSC. If you have Kerbal Konstructs installed there should be a cave on the top of the mountains just out of sight from the KSC. Either that, or I forgot to include them in the last patch lol- 1,655 replies

(UNRELEASED) Komorfia : Eye candy in KSP! : Development Thread
Gameslinx replied to Heirloom's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
I already do this on Laythe in Beyond Home and Eden in Before Kerbin but go ahead. If the effect looks nice i'll give it a pass Also, the swirly-laythe-clouds cliche is here. I really hope those clouds on Kerbin aren't the ones from the visible earth website, AKA, the earth clouds that almost everyone uses in their visual mods... Finally, 64k clouds are completely unnecessary. Rest in piece everyone's memory. You only need 8k tops. The extra detail comes from an EVE detail texture, which significantly reduces the memory usage over using 64k clouds to achieve the same effect. I don't want to slam this visual mod without playing it myself, but there are a lot of the same elements as others and a lack of originality. Does this offer something the others don't? I am not seeing anything new being tried here. I look forward to seeing what happens with this mod but please do consider what i've said because so many people make the same mistakes and get nowhere. -

CKAN is really unfriendly to the modder. With planet mods, an awful lot can go wrong when using ckan so I stick to a manual download- 1,655 replies

Scatterer 0.54: Scatterer 0.53: I'm not sure what's changed, but scatterer 0.54 has completely broken the effects on this planet i've made and I am unable to fix them. Something that was changed between these two versions has caused this and i can't recreate the preferred effect (bottom picture) in scatterer 0.54.

I'm working on polishing the mod a bit more before I add IC support but it's definitely in the works

That is because you used Hyper Edit. Press F5 to quicksave and then hold F9 and it will fix itself automatically. If you installed Kerbal Konstructs with Beyond Home, you'll be able to open the Lua Launch Site using the KK button in the bottom right when in the VAB/SPH

Ignoring the tag because I've already expressed my points and here isn't the place to. Homeworld was/is an awesome game. I played it a lot in my childhood and I probably easily have thousands of hours in it. Sadly, nobody has the time anymore to play Homeworld Remastered. You usually had to shell out an entire evening for a good skirmish. Good memories, though. I still play it on and off.

Kerbal Space Program DLC: “Breaking Gound” Grand Discussion Thread
Gameslinx replied to UomoCapra's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Definitely agree with this. And @micha I understand Squad isn't a charity but this DLC sure makes it seem like it. Because mods do everything (that we know) will be in the DLC, the only reason to really buy it is to support the devs. Yeah sure, mods take a bit of time to update after an update but at the current pace nothing is actually being added of much value in my opinion. It's just been mod-merging since 1.3. Whilst i appreciate the effort Squad's going to to make the game more enjoyable, it's a waste of time because anyone who uses Restock, KIS, a planet mod or a science mod will immediately undo all that work they spent reskinning the parts or making the DLC. We don't know the extent of what's going to be added, but sadly I can't give them the benefit of the doubt as much as I would have been before MH because MH was rather disappointing and a lot of people feel the same way about it as I do. So the conclusion to this whole thing is, you can buy the DLC if you want to support the devs and maybe save some time, but if you're unsure or simply don't have the money you're not missing out on anything at all (it'll just take a few extra minutes to fire up CKAN)
