Sorry to hear that as it is totally possible to do stage 1 in under 5 minutes with good driving and a good design ... thing is that the path you take can substantially affect how quickly you finish each stage My best time in practice runs with stock wheels and 3 Juno's utilizing boost flaps is 5:14 and I know I can improve on that ... and that is with no cheats and only 2 mods, them being BDAc and Roll Cages Rerolled Speed is definitely good for stage 1, however if your vehicle design can't take punishment then it's going to break apart ... keep practicing and I'm sure you can improve your time At first I was achieving sub 8 minutes with Bill's Big Bad Beaver but after a bit of practice I managed to shave a little over 2.5 minutes off my time with the same exact vehicle ... so totally possible

Damn tough too as Val has rolled her down the mountain a few times and she keeps on going and shooting after righting herself My save with targets, Sure ... @katateochi - if you set each of your refueling stations to be 'bases' then when you decouple from them the mission timer will be rest back to 0 ... if you do this just besure to do the 'control from here' deal on your kerbal so that when you decouple you are controlling the buggy and not the refueling station

There were many times throughout this thread and the other one where it was mentioned I guess it got lost in the excitement as the Dakar 2017 challenge is one of the best challenges to come out as of late -

So you do realize that the Dakar events were intended to continue? Hijacking a challenge idea, then hijacking the challenge threads of the person you hijacked the challenge idea from in order to advertise the challenge you created from the original hijacked challenge idea isn't in good form Just my opinion -

So if this challenge is called Dakar 2017 and it is still 2016 .......... I refer you to the OP of this thread where it is clearly stated at the top that the race starts on 1/1/2017 -

Hey all, just a PSA ..... If you set up refueling stations at each flag and use docking ports to do your refueling, when you decouple your craft from the refueling station the mission timer is rest back to 0 EDIT: You will have to set your refueling stations as bases to use this quirk of KSP ... Place your refueling stations then go to the tracking station, select a refueling station, click on the 'i' looking button on the lower right to bring up the craft info and then double click on the name of the station (Black type on orange background) ... Select station as the icon to be used and save -

I'm just going to run them separately ... I'll place a Moose at each flag for the Beaver to refuel This also opened up having targets for the Beaver between stages so I mounted a M230 Chaingun to the top of her

So I have 2 entries and the plan was to run them in tandem as one of the entries, the Mad Moose, is carrying all the fuel for refueling Bill's Big Bad Beaver between stages If it is not allowed to save between stages then I will be immediately disqualified as soon as I go to launch the Beaver after the Moose gets to the stage 1 flag ... I guess I will have to run them in separate saves and place refueling stations at each flag for the Beaver to refuel On the upside it will reduce the weight of the Moose by a half ton or so (she's just under 17 tons now)
