Nothing yet. Soon® ?

What would be the point of downgrading these engines to LF/O again? LH/O has advantages in weight and ISP, and as you have SSTU installed the fuel is there anyway.
-
I patched all the command pods and the CB/ST to have level 3 SAS instead of level 2 and also a low power reaction wheel in the tanks (I always add one, so it saves me parts to have it in the CB/ST when I make a drone/tug. I only wish I could add solar panels to the CB/ST But in the end it is a fuel tank, not a command pod, you can simple add a stock probe core (or patch it like I did).
-
You could stick the engine onto the LC2/3 and only use the LC3 tank with a hole in the middle as a drop-tank (use a fuel line). That way only one engine is needed and you save weight.
-
Gheghe, I might be responsible again I fear Giving mage more work. No doubt these engines are just placeholders for future models that were added to appease some requests (ahem) for very light enigines. They could go onto the Lander Core series when they get overhauled eventually. BTW; You can copy the LC tanks and create your own MP version if you want in the meantime. It's quite easy. Or just change the engine's cfg file to use LF/Ox instead.

@Nookos Found the patch and it works, thanks!!! I've been using octosat for all the satellite contracts and it is a blast to use! Right now I am building some drop probes for the planets/moons and wondered if it would be an idea to make a ring that fits to the bottom and has 3 or 4 very simple landing legs on it so we can land the satellite, and also a parachute module perhaps?
-
BTW: I made a J2X and AJ10-137 in 1/4 scale and adjusted the weight/thrusts (7-8kN is perfect for 0.5-0.6 TWR). Looks kind of neat too, with the longer vacuum bells. Now to reduce the monstrous flame FX which are still original
-
Thrust of 5-10kN is fine I think, when scaled down the stock engines don't have much more either and the stage is pretty light anyway. Is there a way to scale down an existing engine in terms of the model itself? ie make 1/2 or 1/4 scale copy?
-
Will there be a second stage engine that is smaller than the RL10A3? I am using the single LC engine and tweakscaled stock engines for small builds right now as the RL10A3 is way too big (bigger than the tank on 0.625 builds) and can not be scaled down with tweakscale.

I just added the fuel switch and seems to work so far (can jetisson and change fuel type).
-
From what I read, it was due to costs that they used the spare fuel tank of the Saturn V for skylab. ^ what he said. Mage, can you implement it, I can test, never knew you made that functionality.
-
On that topic... I regularly use WildBlue DSEV which has tanks that allow in-game switching of the contents. I've not seen this ability on any other mod and is super cool to use as you can convert it from one thing to another (you lose all contents of course and start with an empty tank when you switch). This kind of functionality would be super to have in stations/landers as it means you do not need a separate lander for each resource or a space station that can not store Resource B because it has a Resource A and C tank only. The tanks all refer to a cfg file with the resource and amount/volume ratio, so you don't need a separate config for each tank size, and allows you to add additional resources on your own by just adding a cfg file.
-
Skylab was not a fuel tank converted into a hab while in space, it was an old tank Saturn 3rd stage tank converted on the ground into a lab and then launched on top of a Saturn V. I don't see converting tanks into habs in mid flight as anything realistic or desirable. I'd rather see actual station parts with habs (like Cx) than converting shipcore tanks into habs.

Is there a way to patch the science parts to show up for contracts? The first post links to a MM patch, but the link points back to the same message.
-
@tater I once built a similiar ship with the Orion capsule and an H1 engine where 6 stacks of tanks were decoupled from the bottom up when they got depleted. You need to add fuel lines between sections though as there is no crossfeed. @davidy12 There are already panels and RCS on the Orion SM, and it is the latest version. I think you are just referring to the old concept with round solar panel version before it was replaced for the current one.

Re folders: Not a big deal either way. I tend to run 15-20 mods and add/remove them depending on which save I play, so having mods contained in one folder makes life easier. The manufacturer tabs are actually very cool to keep the parts together (saves skipping through tons of parts to find what I need), not many modders use these. Gotcha on the soar. I actually send it into orbit and release a satellite, kind of like a mini shuttle. So it's user error on my part Was it meant to return or is it just a disposable 2nd stage? I love that you have the entire setup now, really cool!!!

I don't see why the apollo one would need to be made shorter for one occasion? Most things are OP for the Kerbal system anyway.
-
Mage, I've asked the guys at NASA to take a look at the new heatshield, and they are examining it as we speak.
-
there is one for the soar, one for the A300 and one for the Octosat. I tried moving them into one directory ("octosat" but then they do not show up (paths probably defined in the cfgs). Also the soar does not want to be stable when re-entering and coasting down, it only tumbles if you do anything but point nose down. Do I need FAR or something? If I pull up just a little it will flip around and start tumbling.
