  1. You can: Reduce the sensitivity of the controls in the options menu to give a slower and thus smoother response. Turn "soft control mode" on by pressing the Caps Lock key. Use a USB controller with an analog stick like an Xbox controller while flying. Use a mod like Mouse Aim Flight;
  2. I only find the Science Jr. unwieldy on landers due to it's height. Besides that it's pretty trivial to include on any reasonable sized rocket in my opinion. @Alshain makes a pretty good point though, science is so plentiful you could totally just ignore the Science Jr. and still fill the tech tree easily.
  3. Giving us your system specs would be helpful. What kind of CPU/GPU do you have? Generally speaking; if high part count is the issue, it's the CPU holding you back. Another question, what do you consider "high part count?" 100? 200? 300?
  4. This mod (which I highly recommend) not only corrects some errors in the stock COL indicator but also provides a very handy chart comparing wet mass aerodynamic stability to dry mass aerodynamic stability in any given craft. Should help with trouble shooting your problem.
  5. Version 1.1.3 is on a new version of the Unity engine so most of the known Kraken bugs have been fixed. I'd say this is indeed the right place for such a thread though. Here's the wiki page detailing a lot of the Kraken bugs from past versions: http://wiki.kerbalspaceprogram.com/wiki/Deep_Space_Kraken
  6. Are you entirely sure your keyboards ALT key isn't just broken? Can you use it correctly for things other than KSP? Have you tried changing the MOD key to something else and see if that works?
  7. Whenever the engineer in me gets bored or runs out of imagination I let him take a break and I go play some mindless Counter Strike for awhile. You can't "force it" ...if you don't feel like playing KSP; don't. It's not a job, you'll have more fun if you leave it for a bit and come back. If it's just KSP that's boring you but your inner-scientist is still raring to create, try a differently themed sandbox-building game. I recently tried TerraTech and it's great fun, sort of like KSP but more focused on ground activities and building rovers and such. There are lots of great games out there, don't feel limited to playing just one of them all the time. (Which is the reason I stopped playing WoW a long time ago, when you pay monthly for something you start to feel obligated to play it and it becomes a second job that isn't fun.) Anyways, best of luck!
  8. Great find! I'm definitely gonna use this design on a future lander.
  9. Really? I'm surprised...mostly every forum I've ever been on has a rule against necro threads. Even if they don't it's typically considered "in poor taste" by the community. I mean it just makes more sense to create a new thread about the same topic than to go posting in one from 2013 which probably contains lots of outdated info and users who most likely aren't even members of the forum anymore.
  10. Unless you've got the reward sliders turned way down, money just isn't a big issue in Career mode. I can't see this being practical or worth the time except for role-playing purposes. Also, yes. This "idea" has been mentioned several times before.
  11. This mod has a comparison chart for dry vs. wet stability. It also fixes some errors with the stock COL that can make it appear incorrect at times. I highly recommend it.
  12. I mean...I don't see any reason to not have a center of craft display...but I've never really had a problem "guesstimating" where the center of a given craft is via eyeballing it. As far as dedicated counter weights, how would these be any different than using a fuel tank for instance? Weight is weight. If a craft is unbalanced, shifting fuel around or adding more tanks to one side or another is a simple and effective solution. Seems like this would be an easy thing to mod in maybe? Perhaps someone out there is more qualified to say.
  13. Happy to oblige! Next up is ummm... @pandaman
  14. The odds of someone being able to diagnose your issue when you have that many mods is slim to none, it could be any one of them or a combination of two or more of them. I'd recommend using fewer mods as a solution. Otherwise your own only hope is to troubleshoot it the hard way by uninstalling/reinstalling them one at a time until the problem goes away. You may be able to find the culprit if you use the debug menu in the Alt-F12 cheats, and look for red lines. I know there are a couple of mods that focus on debugging other mods, as well as showing any exceptions they might be throwing but I can't remember the name of them. Best of luck!
  15. From Wikipedia: A vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft is one that can hover, take off, and land vertically. So yeah, doesn't matter how you do those three things, so long as you can do them.
  16. Press Alt-F12. Then select the box that say "Show biomes by color in map." Now you can see all the different science biomes on the Mun/Minmus sorted into a handy color coded chart.
  17. User base is too small to make it a priority for starters. Not to mention how much of the game is spent in 3rd person/Map mode/Building crafts in the VAB/SPH. Good VR experiences tend to be developed from the floor up as VR games, not tacked on as an afterthought. I doubt this will be seriously considered unless there is a KSP 2 or something.
  18. To be more specific, you need to upgrade the Tracking Station to level 2 as well as Mission Control to level 2 before you can place maneuver nodes in career mode. You can right click the buildings from the career "home" screen to access the upgrade menus. The Tracking Station level 2 is 225,000 Funds, Mission Control level 2 is only 75,000 Funds. Together that's 300,000 Funds to unlock maneuver nodes.
  19. Cessna buddies! I fly a 172 with a friend a couple of times a month, we rent it from a flight school. What a fantastic plane right? Simple, reliable, tried and true. If I was going to own a plane, it'd definitely be the humble Cessna, she's not flashy...but she'll get you where you're going in one piece.
  20. -The placement of the plane when spawned is based on it's placement relative to the floor of the SPH. -You'll have to more specific than "wonky" or I can't help you. Also, what do you mean by "flaps"? Flaps are for landing/takeoff only. Do you mean aerodynamic control surfaces in general? -You are using radial symmetry mode then, switch to mirror symmetry mode and they will work fine. -On PC holding the "Alt" key enables node snap mode which will fix your problem, no clue what the key on Xbox is. So yeah, none of these are really bugs.
  21. KSP like a lot of Unity games uses a sort of "fake" fullscreen mode. This mod will put it into "true" fullscreen, which may or may not fix your problem. Be forewarned, it tends to crash the game when you alt-tab. (At least for me.)
