Even more tourist contracts: Jeb "Ahh.....the explosions are free of charge. All apart of the service" And Val gets the closest.
-
I had a contract to get science form the Mun and the Kitchen Sink Mod 2 did the job. Which gave me enough science to get parts for a new business. Tourist rides. And now a series of launches ferrying tourists to orbit. The Legal Department said we had to since we took the the money and spent it on upgrading the science building.
-
I sent my second kerbel into space. Val also was the first kerbel to preform an EVA. An I launched a Polar orbiting satellite to get science for a contract and stuck relay antennas on it to become a relay sat for later missions. I have more fuel on it in case I get a move the satellite contract.

I had a contract going a different direction But I did get a Mun encounter at no charge because of the requested orbit.

Started a new career game. A sub orbital test of the Terrier. And my first kerbal in orbit.

How to Get a Rover Down to the Mun
N_Danger replied to Little Kerbonaut!'s topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
If you have the tech, A conical fuel tank with tall landing legs and radial engines like the the Thud can have enough room underneath for a rover to be placed under it with a de-coupler on the top of the rover. If you have access to the robotic parts you can do some interesting stuff moving the rover off a landing platform. -
That was close to what I was thinking. I only visit a biome once myself. And I don't use the science lab in Kerbin's SOI and didn't use it at all this last play through except for looks on a space station. My only real issue is farming KSC and Kebin in general for science. When I do a science play thorough I give myself 150 science to start and then set science gain to 50%. I was going to drop it down further this time around. Maybe not as deep with the funds.

I have not tried a re-scaled solar system. My only concern is that kind of mod would involve too much fiddling around with. I am not well versed in coding. As this was my first try at a career game I may just restart and see how it goes. I will keep your advice in mind though and take a look at what's out there. I am thinking about more/different planets though.

I played Jool pool. Vall Laythe Tylo Real close to Bop And finally Pol And with that I think I need to start a new game. I was trying career for the first time and didn't turn the funds and science gain down enough. I have blown through the tech tree already, I'm swimming in funds and need more of a challenge.

With KER I just use it for finding a launch window. I then use a Delta V map to plan the mission Delta V budget assuming the most efficient transfer. I add some extra Delta V to cover contingencies. The advantage of a transfer window planner is that you can get a rough D/V requirement at any point without waiting for a perfect alignment of the planets. I use a mid-course correction more for setting my PE than my inclination.

I had a plant a flag on the Mun contract. So it was a chance to train more kerbals and have it paid for. After a very close suicide burn, a good landing (When at 100 ms velocity , I was mostly horizontal passing through 500 meters in altitude. I didn't go vertical with 2 ms velocity until 56 meters in altitude. White knuckle time) After returning Gilski was called on the carpet for the dangerous stunt. Later at the bar Jeb paid her tab because "That was some badass flying"

After finding out I need to have two separate launches to complete a rendezvous contract. I send another mission to Ike. At least I can get 3 more crew enough experience for a fourth star. Hanging out for a transfer window back. And arrival back at home sweet Kerbin to finish the contact.
-
I had sent a mission to Ike. It consisted of a lander and a return vehicle launched together. I un-docked the lander and went to Ike but upon returning to the vehicle in orbit I did not get a contact completion for a rendezvous two vehicles in orbit around Ike. Does this kind of contract require 2 different vehicles to be launched separately?
-
With open contracts on Duna and Ike. I launch a mission to take care of them. The landing on Duna is always exiting. Chutes fully deploy at about 1.8 KM in altitude, And a final rocket assist for landing. A ...discussion on who gets to ride on the rover Bob wins and gets the science. After returning to the service module and refueling a successful landing on Ike is made. After returning to the SM there are preparations for the return home. And a successful return close to KSC to close out a big mission. And go SpaceX! Go Dragon!

Why didn't the heatshield do anything?
N_Danger replied to KerbolExplorer's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
You shouldn't need an engine to land. The parachutes will slow you down enough. -
I recommend Kerbal Engineering Redux (KER). It has a lot of informational read outs for various parts of the game and you can pick and choose what you want out of it. It has customization, you can have heads up displays with what you want on them or none at all. It has a window in the tracking station that will tell you when your launch windows come up for a selected planet. With that and a Delta V map you can plan missions and get anywhere. No doubt there are mods that do just transfer planning out there.

Help with maneuver nodes
N_Danger replied to KrisKelvin's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
When you are in this mode there is a scale to the right that you can set the magnitude of the clicking. 1 meter per, 2 per, 10 per etc.. -
Using the Kerbal engineering philosophy of MOAR. I got to Gully with enough D/V to make orbit. And enough battery power to collect all the science.
-
I stopped launching from steam at 850 hours so probably just over 1000. I still play like a rookie though.
-
I flew my mission to Gilly. I left Kerbin with what I thought was enough D/V I was wrong. I ended up in a very elliptical orbit around Eve. And I had too little fuel to rendezvous get into orbit. I had to settle for a fly by. Forgetting to have enough battery power to transmit science from all the instruments was a bonus. Back to the drawing board for this one.
-
I built a probe for a Gilly contract And tested a way to get it there.
-
Had a contract to go to Ike. At least in KSP you don't have bad weather. Got a good burn into a Duna capture from LKO. And here we are
