  1. Love your mod sir. It saved my Moho mission yesterday when I had a docked tanker and capsule get this bug.
  2. Mech Jeb has a Maneuver Node editor. Use it in conjunction with the focus view (click on the targeted planet/moon or the orbit of the targeted planet/moon to bring that up). You should be able to fine tune the burn before you get into the SOI.
  3. Went to Moho Jeb took the lander down and planted the flag And after finding out he didn't have enough fuel to get into orbit he resorted to... other measures A rescue tanker had to be sent because the Service Module also didn't have enough fuel for a return to Kerbin. But after many trials the crew returns home Now for the last planet to plant a flag on and have the crew return to Kerbin from, Eve (and its moon Gilly but that's just a victory lap around the track)
  4. Congrats! I've always picked Duna first myself but going interplanetary is a big step in any space program and a great feeling of accomplishment.
  5. So far do good no stranded Kerbals in this play through. But I have a Moho mission and an Even mission coming up so no promises. In fact in my games they don't get stranded, they get a memorial.
  6. Jeb departs for the landing on Dres Which was done in his usual style as the programmed spot for the landing had him flying through a mountain so a quick change in plans ensued. And finally a happy homecoming Only Moho, Gilly and Eve need flags to complete my first ever 'visit every where and come back' game.
  7. I haven't been to Eve yet, but It looks like to me the CM is too far away from the bottom to be stable in thick air. Maybe try moving the CM down closer to the heat shields or add more drag to the top part?
  8. I voted for assemble in orbit. But that is for Duna orbit. I launch multiple payloads to arrive at Duna for assembly. It is more expensive(I also don't play career mode) but I generally build a station at Duna for long term exploration.
  9. I am in the camp of some parachutes. I used 2 radial drogue and 2 radial regular on mine. It requires a burn to slow down for drogue deployment and a final burn at 100 meters to bleed off the last bit of speed (final speed after all chutes deployed was about 20 m/s). The missing leg was due to the kerbal touching a landing leg causing an explosion bug. (which I hope has been fixed with 1.13) It also requires a Service module or station in orbit as it has no direct return to Kerbin capabilities. I used a station and the craft was meant to be re-used multiple times. And as others have said watch out for slopes. I once slid over 2 KM after landing on a steep slope, Thankfully the chutes stayed open and no explosions occurred.
  10. I've always been a space program fan and have always liked to see rockets take off since I was a kid. One day while looking at random gaming videos I saw one about KSP and down loaded the demo. As soon as it was on sale on Steam (.90) I picked it up because I wanted to watch rockets take off everyday. And bonus points if they don't explode..... or not, I am easy to please.
  11. I vote for #1 also. You already spent the fuel getting to Ike's orbit and would use more by dropping down any closer to Duna.
  12. Made a boo boo going to Moho But things worked out the second time around And sent a miner and lander to Dres as a part of my "Put a flag on every thing I can " campaign.
  13. I use a probe core or docking port on top of the part that you attach the sub assembly to and before launching (or what ever) click on it and select "control from here".
  14. Sent out some satellites. One to Dres Launched 2 more for Eve and Gilly. Which arrived and deployed successfully.
  15. A crew was sent to Eeloo to meet up with a lander and miner waiting there The new drop tank equipped Nuc Service Module has over 5 KM/s delta-v available. Val gets the call for landing on Eeloo And, after a long mission, the crew arrives at the Kerbin space station.
  16. Going to Eeloo The pay load is a unkerbaled miner, a lander for the manned mission to follow and a sat for finding ore deposits.
  17. I send a lot of ships to Duna instead of just one. A station core with hab and lab. a service module that carries the crew, a lander, and a fuel tanker. Each requiring a separate launch. This is the basic launcher that is tweaked for each payload To build the launcher I basically use Snark's method and this D/V map for reference.
  18. Minmus because of the ease of moving fuel from a mining operation to orbit. And free mint ice cream too.
  19. Time to bring the Jool expedition home. The mining lander is used as a booster using up the fuel that can't be loaded into the service module (And totally being reminded that 2 large ships under thrust with just a Clamp-o-tron docking port connection has all the structural integrity of a wet noodle) After many small course corrections, with time between them to let the oscillations die down, the mining lander is ditched and the expedition arrives at Kerbin for orbital insertion. The crew enjoys a view of home while an orbit or two is spent letting the engine cool down after an 8 1/2 minute burn. After Val parks the ship at the space station Jeb grabs the science and transfers it to the Kerbin return service module that is waiting there. And after a routine landing the expedition members pose for publicity photos while awaiting pick up.
  20. Set some goals. For me at first, getting to Duna and back was it. Since I play in a Science campaign mostly I needed to get to orbit, go to Kerbin's moons and collect science. Then learn to build bigger rockets, sending probes and rovers. And then finally a Kerbal'ed mission. You don't need to have detailed plans, in fact your plans will not survive contact with the actual mission. Learning to adapt with what you have is the best skill to learn in this game. But I still derp around randomly too. You can accidentally come up with some useful stuff that way.
  21. The Jool expedition moves to Bop. The science lander and service module arrives with the miner lander en route. Magienna is no longer a rookie with her first landing Next the expedition moves to Pol. The miner arrives to meet up with the rest of the group And Bob gets the call for the last landing of the expedition. And gets it done All five of Jool's moons now have a flag for the first time in any of my games. Now it is time to bring the Kerbals home.
  22. I have Flash disabled by default in chrome and I only enable it on a case by case basis. This stops a lot of stuff but it is a pain sometimes. For example, if you have to apply to a job posting online and you get sent to several different webs sites as a part of the application process. Other than that I use MS Windows Defender and try to be careful about clicking on stuff. And if I get something, I run the free Malwarebytes.
  23. I have had a miner on Val, with 2 drills down and running, slide down hill for 2 KM recently.
