  1. Built my first rover in 1.1 First off I had to DIYS the landing gear because of stocks mid sized landing gears clipping 1.5 meters into the ground issue Next I forgot about how only 2 radial mounted engines can easily flip around the center of mass when fired. Here is a view of the landing/crash site. I did get the rover off though But science was acquired in three biomes. And going down hills was scary with the new wheel physics but there were no wrecks.
  2. Above 20 km the fins have very little effect. On your upper stages stick to SAS and/or engine gimbal for control for stages above that altitude.
  3. Are you using struts at the bottom of the tri-coupled tanks by the engines to tie them together? When I have used Tri-Couplers in the past if I didn't do that things would flex all over the place at the bottom making the rocket uncontrollable. If you are doing that then try fins of some kind on the bottom by the engines. Think of the rocket as a lever rotating around the current CoM. You will have aerodynamic forces trying to push one way at one end and you need some combination of fins, engine gimbal and sas pushing the other way at the other end to keep it in line.
  4. I did not uninstall right away but once I decided I was keeping 10, I deleted the saved folders and reinstalled fresh just what I needed or was gonna use, just to clean up the HD. For example I had 260 GIGs worth of steam games installed. Most of which I was no longer playing.
  5. To add to the advice given. When launching a rocket. You should search the forums for Gravity Turn. This basically means after lift off when going around 50-100 m/s gently nudge the rocket over about 5 degrees. It should then, if designed well enough, fly it self to about 30 km up. Easier said than done I'll admit, you have to experiment over and over to find the sweet spot. Make sure you have fine control on. You get this by pressing the caps lock key by default. This will reduce the magnitude of the control inputs. Carefully use SAS if things get unstable but don't leave it on all the time at the beginning of the flight, it will mess up a good gravity turn. Good Luck! Remember if you aren't blowing things up occasionally you aren't trying hard enough.
  6. You can turn the setting off in options that forces the kebal to orient to the camera if you want(somewhere, I don't do that so I can't say where in options) and I always switch the camera view to chase or free when on EVA. Leaving the camera on Auto causes problems for me.
  7. I was recently able to land in a new science game at the lesser flats. I was close enough to the slopes and midlands to send Val via RCS to each of them. Hoppers are good but flying by RCS on Minmus for the win!
  8. Sent a crew to the Mun in my 1.1 science game. Bob landed on the Muner midands for the sciencey things And the east crater. Bill and Jeb are gonna make him pay for the drinks though because nobody rides for free.
  9. No problems with win 10( much better experience than Vista or win 8.1) and steam. Just be aware that win 10 has a lot of tracking and info gathering as a default and the first thing I did was turn a lot of that crap off.
  10. I voted for KER not because I use it(I use MechJebs info screens) but because at least a D/V readout in the VAB is something a non-space geek needs to get a handle on designing spaceships. Most people I know who might like the game don't want to do algebra homework for every stage to play it. I think you could have it toggled in the cheat menu with the other make it easier to play stuff. I voted for the Docking Alignment mod because I am an older guy and even the 1.1 nav ball is hard to read. And as far as other automation goes my "twitch reflexes" are not what they used to be, so manual flying can really suck. I do think any options for automaton can also be put in the cheat menu to keep it out of the game for those who don't want it.
  11. Go to the KSP folder in steam. Look for the 64 bit exe in that folder and make a short cut of that. Then put it on your desk top. Launch steam separately if you need steam up at the same time or if you want to check for updates.
  12. I just made a short cut of the 64 bit exe from my steam install (I did NOT use Steam's make a short cut feature) and used that because steam can act funny sometimes when launching or updating games.
  13. Sent a probe to Minmus And since that worked out I sent Val, for the first landing off Kerbin in this game.
  14. I believe that while you can have Steam not update a game, when Steam gets an update it will set the game back to update as a default. And that seems to happen once a week. This used to enrage me with Civ 4. If it is possible, I always try to move my games out of the steam folder just because of this.
  15. I started a new science game in 1.1 and sent Jeb on a short hop over KSC to collect science from the buildings on the west side. It got dark on the fourth trip back to the capsule and Jeb forgot were he parked: And I had my first satellite orbit and return
  16. After a kraken attack plus much trail and error. I was able to attach a fuel tank to my station. And sent the tanker/tug to the refining operation on Minmus.
  17. I don't have an addiction to KSP. I just have a problem with thinking other games will be as good as KSP. I buy other games and only spend 10-15 hours on them. Then I go back to KSP.
  18. I was using a probe to hop around Minmus to scan the surface and ran out of fuel right before I could get that last biome. So it became a rover. Probe core SAS is OP. (it did take 30 minutes to be fair)
  19. I got to admit I've never personally had the issue and I just remember seeing a post on it some time ago. I could be losing my memory though.
  20. I think the distance is 5 meters before the ports reset.
  21. The difference with steam is that it will not update a game copied to a different folder. This is a good thing if you have a moded game that an update will break.
  22. Kerbin Station is placed in orbit. The first Kerbalnauts selected as crew arrive And the station is now operational.
  23. The 2 pilots took turns taking the lander down to Duna today. Cisalla went to a canyon And Tamtine found a rock
