  1. I started a new Science game, with a lot of mods. SCANSat was one so I sent a probe to map the Mun. Jeb went to the beach.
  2. Jeb gets the go head to land on Gilly. And does some goofing off while he is there." Look mission control I can jump over my lander!" And then after an uneventful trip back to the Kerbin Space station, the crew lands in the taxi capsule. And finally a line up of the original Kerbalnauts for Jeb's retirement party. This was the last flag, oddly enough, I needed for my goal of planting a flag on every planet or moon (that you can land on) and get the kerbal who put it there back home to KSC alive. (PS Jeb's new Party Bus is the bomb)
  3. The SM comes into orbit a few days later and waits for Val to rendezvous. After getting all the science Val zips over to the SM to climb aboard. Next stop, Gilly.
  4. Val enters Eve's atmosphere. At night. Because the orbit and fuel situation required it if we wanted to land on...land Val was able to plant a flag(which later the lander slid over and destroyed) and get the science. After much dodging around the lander and trying to "climb out" from the ladders on to the platforms, Val is finally able to get on board and leave. Starting with this: and ending up in orbit with this: I finally got a flag on Eve and a Kebal back into orbit to tell the tale.
  5. That's the same with me. On the slightest incline you go sliding off and not just with wheels/legs, even just structural parts used as landing gear will slide. Note the speed of an 150 ton craft on a less than 5 degree slope on Kerbin.
  6. Tested the Mk 4 eve lander. It has been declared safe for kebals. There are minimal explosions(gotta move some batteries) on the way up but otherwise it gets into orbit. Ok now it is time for Val to suit up. We are going to Eve soon
  7. Try playing around with the angle of attack parameter. I notice you have it set on 5 degrees. Try increasing it. I use the ascent guidance in MJ a lot but you got to keep an eye on it as it can do crazy things depending on what you allow it to do. I personally don't let it stage or deploy anything.
  8. I got my rear end handed to me over and over again by Eve. Takeoffs are hard there apparently . I think I need to make a different lander and try again. Also when Val climbed down the ladder the ship started sliding and shaking, she had to hang on for dear life. I think the place is haunted by invisible demons myself.
  9. One never drinks cheap booze while conducting flight operations. You drink the good stuff instead.
  10. I always forget that Kerbals will sneak on board an un-kerbaled test fight of a new vessel or a vessel that is sent someplace intentionally with out a crew. (I'm looking at you Jeb)
  11. That happens everywhere, I landed a 150 ton ship on Kerbin and had it slide at .1 m/s for for 5 minutes on a less than 5 Deg. slope. This was using wing parts as landing legs so I think it has something to do with how friction is calculated and not just the landing gear/leg interaction with the ground (though that's crazy too).
  12. Build a prototype Eve lander and a booster to take it to Kerbin orbit. Then tested the re-entry of said lander which went... poorly
  13. Love your mod sir. It saved my Moho mission yesterday when I had a docked tanker and capsule get this bug.
  14. Mech Jeb has a Maneuver Node editor. Use it in conjunction with the focus view (click on the targeted planet/moon or the orbit of the targeted planet/moon to bring that up). You should be able to fine tune the burn before you get into the SOI.
  15. Went to Moho Jeb took the lander down and planted the flag And after finding out he didn't have enough fuel to get into orbit he resorted to... other measures A rescue tanker had to be sent because the Service Module also didn't have enough fuel for a return to Kerbin. But after many trials the crew returns home Now for the last planet to plant a flag on and have the crew return to Kerbin from, Eve (and its moon Gilly but that's just a victory lap around the track)
  16. Congrats! I've always picked Duna first myself but going interplanetary is a big step in any space program and a great feeling of accomplishment.
  17. So far do good no stranded Kerbals in this play through. But I have a Moho mission and an Even mission coming up so no promises. In fact in my games they don't get stranded, they get a memorial.
  18. Jeb departs for the landing on Dres Which was done in his usual style as the programmed spot for the landing had him flying through a mountain so a quick change in plans ensued. And finally a happy homecoming Only Moho, Gilly and Eve need flags to complete my first ever 'visit every where and come back' game.
  19. I haven't been to Eve yet, but It looks like to me the CM is too far away from the bottom to be stable in thick air. Maybe try moving the CM down closer to the heat shields or add more drag to the top part?
  20. I voted for assemble in orbit. But that is for Duna orbit. I launch multiple payloads to arrive at Duna for assembly. It is more expensive(I also don't play career mode) but I generally build a station at Duna for long term exploration.
  21. I am in the camp of some parachutes. I used 2 radial drogue and 2 radial regular on mine. It requires a burn to slow down for drogue deployment and a final burn at 100 meters to bleed off the last bit of speed (final speed after all chutes deployed was about 20 m/s). The missing leg was due to the kerbal touching a landing leg causing an explosion bug. (which I hope has been fixed with 1.13) It also requires a Service module or station in orbit as it has no direct return to Kerbin capabilities. I used a station and the craft was meant to be re-used multiple times. And as others have said watch out for slopes. I once slid over 2 KM after landing on a steep slope, Thankfully the chutes stayed open and no explosions occurred.
  22. I've always been a space program fan and have always liked to see rockets take off since I was a kid. One day while looking at random gaming videos I saw one about KSP and down loaded the demo. As soon as it was on sale on Steam (.90) I picked it up because I wanted to watch rockets take off everyday. And bonus points if they don't explode..... or not, I am easy to please.
  23. I vote for #1 also. You already spent the fuel getting to Ike's orbit and would use more by dropping down any closer to Duna.
