  1. I had a Science play through where I went to every body possible (except asteroids) and landed a Kerbal. Then I returned her/him to Kerbin. And EVE was the most challenging for sure. Tylo was tricky too.
  2. About Mach 1, then the rocket flipped over and exploded.
  3. Rockets, Large Rockets and Large Extravagant Rockets.
  4. Every few games I get a visit from the kraken. Pinwheeling space stations, flying to pieces, are my favorite one.
  5. Duna is good. Atmosphere for chutes/retro assist landings but not too demanding lifting back off. It can be done without docking. However I will echo the learn to rendezvous and dock suggestions, you can pretty much build anything and go anywhere you want after that. The tech's needed for docking are RCS thrusters and docking ports so I would suggest that direction down the tech tree.
  6. Sent a new probe to Urlum (OP mod) The transfer burn is uneventful. This my first probe without solar panels, so I used a fission reactor from KA. The first mission is scanning Prlax. I have 2.5 KMS for more exploration after this. And it will serve a relay satellite in the end.
  7. I brought my kerbals home from Duna. The first to leave are Val, Bob and Kimey. Then Jeb ,Bill and Marliana left a day later. The Science Station served them well but time to go home. Happy landings were had by all. I also tested a prototype Jool/Saternus science vessel.
  8. Val makes a sunset decent into the Western Canyon. It is kind of melancholy feeling as the last of the surface expedition pictures on Duna are taken. The last of the science is picked up and while that is being worked on in the lab, preparations are made for return at the next launch window to Kerbin. Mean while back on Kerbin, I practiced the rapid unplanned disassembly of my booster rocket on the launch pad. I got it down to one second after liftoff.
  9. Jeb takes the lander out to Ike. Does a back flip off the lander at the first site. If you are going to get an EVA report flying over Ike's Lowlands, do it in style. He was more restrained at the Midlands site. And back with all the science. There is enough fuel in the tanker for one more landing on Duna. Everyone gets some rest. Bill will pack the parachutes tomorrow and then Val will take the lander down.
  10. The first rocket I made, after watching a Scott Manly video, almost made it into orbit and after that I "got it".
  11. Moho 5 mission results Moho 7 (Please don't ask about 6) Moho 8 gets to orbit. And then to Moho. Now I'm gonna go get a much needed beer.
  12. Jeb made the case for a Duna landing even though only one lander was left and thus no back up if it failed. Reports that he "stole" the lander are mere rumors and innuendo. Liftoff is routine. And Jeb returns with the science. I also failed at arriving at Moho. I got there but couldn't stop.
  13. Sent some probes to Saternus Then things went kinda kerbel First I sent 4 probes. When I got there there were 5 moons. Who knew? Not me of course. I got Slade Tekto And Eeloo. Note the need to point at Kerbol as I only have solar panels and batteries for power. And I missed Ovok. Was moving too fast with too little T/W to make orbit. I did get some fly by science though.
  14. After breakfast Val steps out for a morning drive Duna is big And 25 KM later. I found a thing Val noted that the rover handed better without the deployable solar array. And when asked what happened to the solar array she was quoted as saying "Never Mind!" The return to the station went well. Aside from running out of fuel and needing rescuing by Jeb. Really well.
  15. Val takes out the next rover for a trip to the northern basin (love the new biomes) By having nerves of steel I didn't need a breaking burn for chute deployment. Val hops out to plant a flag. And then to bed because I landed at Kerbol set. And tomorrow is a big 15-20 KM road trip to... something spotted by a satellite.
  16. Jeb gets first crack at Duna and takes the lander and the first rover out. Obligatory photo op. Then a road trip to the next biome And after a full day of collecting science Jeb returns to the station.
  17. Mech jeb, which I unashamedly used for 200+ hours, it is not perfect in all respects. Docking is one of those 'not perfect' things. All of mech jeb's autopilots are wonky at times and waste a crap ton of fuel at all times. Using the information readout functions in mech jeb is highly recommended instead. And another vote for learn to do dock(and rendezvous) manually, if you play science or career It really opens up the game early on in the tech tree if you can.
  18. I sent a Station Core to Duna to meet up with a tanker sent earlier. Then at the next launch window I sent Duna Explorer 1 with Jeb in command. Followed 4 days later by Duna Expedition 2 commanded by Val. Which ironically, ended up arriving before Duna EXP 1. But everyone finally arrives and the team is ready for science stuff after a good nights rest.
  19. Sent a fuel tanker to Duna. And launched.... an un-kerbaled lander/rover combo for validation on Duna. The take off and successful achievement of orbit clears the vessel for Kerbeled operations. Now to send a Kerbeled expedition to Duna. For all the science.
  20. I won't fire it up unless I can play at least an hour. I can only play during the weekends so from about 5:30 to 8:30 in the mornings generally. Now sometimes I been able to justify playing "while waiting for the laundry to get done".
  21. For the science! You may as well stay a while after going to all the trouble to get there. A station makes a good "base camp" for further explorations and can act as a back-up habitat(to await rescue) if things go wrong.
  22. I will put my voice in with the folks saying get PC/Mac for the mods.
  23. Sent some satellites to Jool And got a Tylo encounter with my breaking burn. So released the first sat. Tylo, Pol, Bop, Laythe, and Vall all get their Satellites. It was a little tricky at one point with 3 of the Sats having a braking maneuver within the same 2 hour window. And the Science was good. I could only run one scanner at a time due to electrical shortages but no worries other than that.
  24. I found out that at my current tech that I can just barely keep in contact with Kerbin when going to Sarnus And mean while back on Kerbin, Jeb's insurance rates are going up again.
