  1. Neil Armstrong and the other Apollo guys were basically just payload.
  2. I have seen another model that sat on top of the Saturn (instead of being radially mounted) but I couldn't find the image.
  3. In my career save I have a fuel base on the Minmus Greater Flats. I thought it would be a good idea to have a automated rescue vessel for the inevitable contracts. I also thought having a few drinks while I was building it was a good idea... I almost always build sky-crane type craft to deliver things but for some reason (see above) I built an in-line return stage. On launching the return stage I realised I had destroyed the probe core and reaction wheel with engine exhaust. I try flying that thing (now renamed to "half-safe") occasionally for laughs and the inevitable explosion.
  4. Saturn-Shuttle / The concept model for a Saturn V and Space Shuttle combo.
  5. It sounds like you might be pushing the rocket too fast through the lower atmosphere. I generally try to have my rockets moving at 250m/s at 10,000m. Ok so your launcher will need about 3500dv. If you are set on playing stock you can use the Tsiolkovsky rocket equation or if you don't want to do the maths you can install this mod that will give you the figures in the VAB. Also you could look in the spacecraft exchange for a lifter that can get 26 tons into orbit
  6. When the flight instructions for your SSTO includes the line "allow the rocket to flip over 3 times at 30,000m and power up again when close to prograde".
  7. Go juice same as very fast fatness many times. E=mc²
  8. Year 103: Ferkin Kerman discovers a form of fuel better than sticks and rocks in what will be referred to as the "Great Home-Brewing Disaster of '03". R.I.P. Ferkin Kerman.
  9. Launch a manned capsule and recover it - your reputation is displayed on the last screen.
  10. I never recruit Kerbals, I rescue them and add them to my program however when I saw Ferkin Kerman in the astronaut complex I had to have him.
  11. “Whatever your mind can conceive and believe the mind can achieve regardless of how many times you may have failed in the past.” Napoleon Hill Very Kerbal
  12. @ZooNamedGames - Pilots who are colour blind contributed greatly to WW2. There are also many colour blind pilots' associations in the US, the UK and Australia.
  13. Another place you can find fuel savings is in landing. I used to be really conservative when landing and waste a lot of fuel. If you are mod friendly most of us use informational mods to determine Delta v when building our vessels. I can't really live without Kerbal Engineer Redux these days (I played without this for the first 6 months or so basically guessing how far my vessel will go - very hit and miss. KER gives you a baseline figure for how far you can go in meters per second on top of lots of other information).
  14. Greetings Broke dead dogg. Failure in KSP is only a ticket to more adventure. The salt must be taken with some salt due to the problems with the console port.
  15. Welcome to the forums, KerbalXcer.
  16. BBc's Space Race (2006) is a worthwhile docu-drama about the beginnings of the USSR/USA space programs.
  17. Ablator also gets eaten away on an ISRU vessel without adequate cooling.
  18. This mod might help - It freezes time while you land your boosters.
  19. It's most likely the wheel bug, mate - it will be patched in the next update.
  20. Greetings CVerts and welcome to the forums.
