  1. Didn't they say this a year ago though? Not to say I'm not excited, but let's just hope this doesn't turn into Falcon Heavy V2.
  2. You have the same problem that I do! 10,000 Apollo Command modules and Service modules, but no lunar modules.
  3. We had -50F windchill earlier this morning, and about -40 right now. F and C are equal at -40. I went outside with just pants and a t-shirt on, it was cold. That's a 100+ degree difference between inside and outside with windchill.
  4. With the 90km apogee they also skipped the "send astronauts to space" part.
  5. So does the measured mass start from low Kerbin orbit or a Kebrin-Mun transfer orbit? If it's Low Kerbin Orbit you might want to put a limit on the altitude.
  6. Where should the spacecraft start from? Low Mun orbit? I don't see a specification up there, that could definitely affect what the minimum mass is.
  7. For all those whose dreams seem out of reach Chapter One - Dreams of Space Hey, I didn't want to start another huge project, Since I have trouble finishing them, But this one will be shorter, I have an outline, 16-18 parts, At most, Enjoy. Mod list (KSP 1.6.1): Inspired by: This Reddit post. It made me think about the other 99% of the space program and how it would be interesting to drive around and do stuff. So I asked the name of the vehicle mod (it's called "Grounded") and went wild with every ground relevant mod I could find, and came up with a story. I hope you enjoy the story, and I hope I can keep up with it!
  8. Maybe it's a ploy to attract employees. If they enshroud everything in mystery, people of this next generation will want to know the secrets, and the only way to do that is to be a foreign spy or an employee.
  9. “ A compact fuel tank, designed for small upper stages and landers. Rockomax takes no responsibility for the Dawton Kerman Aboveground Pool Company stickers on the inside because it totally is not a swimming pool frame we stole from their back lot. — Rockomax Conglomerate ”
  10. Sorry to interrupt the argument, but if the whole extremely rapid reuse thing works out, at what point do you think will they stop livestreaming some launches because it won't be worth it any more?
  11. That's a tough question. It's not 1.5, I completely skipped 1.5. I'm tempted to say 1.3.1, because a few things I have are still being played in that version. 1.6 is new enough that not all mods are working, and many have been abandoned, but it has some cool stuff... 1.4.5 is also used, but less commonly than 1.3.1... And Realism Overhaul is still 1.2 for me. So I'm going to go ahead and say "Version 1.8" and hope that the devs make it a good update!
  12. Where at? In the hopper thread all I can find is confirmation that the bulkhead is on: Which is great progress, though. I wonder if they could fly it without the fairing if they really wanted to.
  13. Yes! An unblocked stream! https://www.isro.gov.in/pslv-c44/watch-live-launch-of-pslv-c44-mission
  14. Correct! It's been a while since the last ping here! @Rover 6428?
  15. Finally... I don't want to jinx it, but school was pushed back 2 hours due to weather, so I should be able to watch this one! Unless I accidentally sleep in...
  16. Hey, y'all... Sorry I've been so inactive with my mission reports lately, it's been busy. It's the time of the year where I have a competition every weekend or so and there's studying for the ACT, school, clubs, dealing with what is potentially a relationship, general stuff, a few things I don't want to talk about, etc.

I also have an idea for yet another story but I'm really hesitant to write it. I am already questioning my ability to finish my two main mission reports before college and I don't want another thing on my plate, but I think it would be interesting.

      Appreciate the banana for scale.

Looks big enough for a short poem. I wonder if you can tape together two things of poster board to hide the pvc weight. Also I believe that stuff is kinda stiff (poster board) so it might be worth adding quite a bit of weight to help is unfurl. Or maybe could do an accordion style thing, where it unfolds instead of unfurls? That's more machine dependant so I'll just toss it out there, but I think you have a better idea of how it's gonna work. You know, cause you're building it and I'm not :P

Hmm, accordion style, that's something I hadn't considered. It would probably make deployment more reliable, but it would make the message slightly less legible. I could do it with the mechanism I already have in place. Unfortunately, there are some components that protrude slightly into the poster's path. The unrolling means that the poster will harmlessly roll over those parts, but with an accordion it may get stuck. Thank you for the idea, though.

      Another suggestion:

      “Roses are red

      Violets are blue

      Your eyes are (color)

Will you go to prom with me?”

I’ll admit that’s a bit generic, though. Just a suggestion.

  17. I think Starship will have an easier time re-entering than Apollo, because it has more surface area per mass, and can also generate more lift during re-entry, so it should need a thinner TPS than Apollo needed, although it probably won't be 10x thinner. Especially if they want to re-use it.
