  1. Try lowering the render quality, it has a big effect on the shadows
  2. My Kerbals spend their downtime making snacks, watching KSC "safety" videos (What to do when everything around you explodes!) and drawing straws to see who'll be on the next flight (Moved to Fanworks, Suggestion because people can suggest what Kerbals do)
  3. Actually, I think when the devs were discussing planets and Minmus was brought up, HarvesteR was having a snack
  4. Unity uses physX in software for cross platform compatibility, you're just successful because your PC's whimper in fear and do what they're told
  5. Maybe it's not so easy to make their physics engine use multithreading, that's the real problem here, Unity can and does offload other processes to other cores when necessary but cannot do that with the physics. KSP may be the most physics intensive game running on Unity, sure other games may have physics engine dust, broken glass effects and more ragdolls but they aren't part of the core game and can be faked in other ways if the players PC can't handle the physics. But in KSP you're kinda stuck, if your PC cant do the maths fast enough, you ain't orbiting.
  6. What do you mean by fit? Not even the Octo2? Or, try what I do and either hide the Octo2 on the bottom or clip it inside the rovemate (works for the larger probes too)
  7. Wow, significant new content rather than the usual "+1" or "Is this still going?" posts, we can let this necro pass
  8. We're getting far too many megathreads and showcases :/ Sorry but I'm merging this with the main thread.
  9. Deep fried (micro)chips Sounds like a bad idea, and you'd be laughed at if you took it to a computer shop for repair.
  10. Maybe that you need LC_ALL=C depending on your localisation, can you try "LC_ALL=C ./KSP.x86_64" in a terminal? (you need to be in the KSP directory) I think those other commands can also go there, but LC_ALL=C is the most important
  11. Hmm, it'd be good to see the logs, can you upload them somewhere? LC_ALL=C %command%_64 is what you need for the launch option so Steam starts the 64bit binary, but you can also try just clicking on the file to see if that works.
  12. The devs do read it when they have time, they are often just too busy, not just with KSP but their home lives as well, many are in relationships
  13. Anything else in the logs that may be a clue? Also don't forget 64bit is experimental still. Maybe you need mono installed on the system
  14. But at about 1% efficiency it's kinda useless. Doesn't mean it won't get better eventually though
  15. Yes it's okay, there has to be some other life even if it's only plants
  16. Rockets rely on heat right? So what about a thermite rocket?
  17. There are two modes for EVA, auto-align-with-camera-mode and freeform mode, this can be selected in the settings screen/other input tab. In auto-align mode your Kerbal will align with the camera, in freeform you can pitch and roll by holding the left mouse button and moving the mouse, and yaw with Q and E. What you are seeing is your Kerbal aligning with the camera, you can adjust camera mode with V, and this is the easiest mode to use. Freeform is tricky, but worth a go Also, welcome to the community !
  18. Welcome to the community Christian Have fun on the forums and don't forget to check out the German section, but feel free to post anywhere, though we do prefer English everywhere else. Your English is good by the way
  19. Do they really need to be? And I'm sure smaller ones could be made but how complex a computer do you really need? If it works then the size would just have to be accepted, look at the size of the Venera probes, they can hardly be called small
  20. A better name would be "The Don't Keep Suggesting" list, but also in regards to rovers, more ways to keep the flipping things on the ground would be good. For example, softer (or tunable) suspension so the wheels follow the ground properly instead of bouncing you up into space.
  21. I think it was in one of Arthur C Clarkes book where there was a race by foot on the Moon, turned into a heat loss via conductive soles story, made me wonder where was Nike during this time
