  1. A late addition to our October line-up but worthy of the addition is the first Gameplay Questions and Tutorials thread of the month. Congratulations to keptin for his excellent thread on basic aircraft design
  2. There's 2D in KSP, look at the settings screen Unity can handle 2D just fine I expect, or ersatz 2D made of 3D planes.
  3. Pledged to Elite Dangerous already, can't afford both games :/
  4. Call me old fashioned but I still love going to the Mun. But there's so much to explore on Kerbin as well
  5. Much like discussing cleverbot can do And I thought this was a thread about Minmus...
  6. These are beautiful, I hope someday KSP looks as good, and I hope this thread takes off, so I've chosen your thread SolarLiner as the Space Lounge thread for October, congrats
  7. Excellent work BlueSubstance, and well done for being Octobers Fanart thread of the month
  8. Congrats Temstar on your excellent craft designs, and coincidentally for making the Spacecraft Exchange thread of the month
  9. Well done SkyRender for posting a brilliant challenge, you've made the challenge thread of the month for October
  10. Nice biplanes minerman, these are not easy to make, I've tried
  11. October sees something of a theme with the new threads of particular note this month, starting with SkyRender's New Bobcat Colonization Challenge Building a base is always easier if you have the right tools to do it with, so joining Skyrender is Temstar and his Modular base creation kit! Bases are great but you need somewhere to put them, and how about BlueSubstance's Planet Idea's? Wouldn't you love to see these in KSP? I would And as well as BlueSubstance's planets, SolarLiner reminds us that other games also show how beautiful space can be, even though his thread is new, it's worth a look at the SpaceEngine images found there.
  12. Odo, please try to avoid multiposting, it's a little messy Also, MechJeb is an addon for a computer game, there are far more important things to be upset over.

    Hi!

Welcome to the community Sundancer Just ask away if you need help, we're all friendly here and will do what we can for you
  14. Everyone has to start somewhere, even your early work kerbtrek was undoubtedly poor, but you got better... KSP is open to modification, this is a good thing, and yes, people new to modding will try to cut their teeth on a KSP addon, and why shouldn't they? Some will improve in skill, and reach the heady heights of sumghai, Kyle & Winston, Bobcat, cardboardboxprocessor... Others will be happy with their one or two mods and move on, but that doesn't mean those addons are of no use, everything is made by someone to fill a purpose they had, to scratch their itch, and it may be just the right thing for someone else too If you don't like an addon, don't use it, but don't deny others the chance to spread their wings and have some fun
  15. I think you'll have to try it to find out as it's not something that players routinely attempt. I doubt you can make it fully reusable, expect to have to discard drop tanks at least.
  16. Brilliant work Hayoo, the style is great
  17. Yeah, not with that name Nice craft though, well done
  18. A Vtol would probably be your best bet, as the collision at speed is just too much, might be possible with the big pylon and loads of struts though. It'd be interesting to see if a seaplane could take off, and you could use chutes for the landing
  19. There's no real sense in "Mod hate", addoms really expand the game and for a great many people they make KSP more fun, there's just a group who think they are somehow pure if they eschew mods. I fly stock mainly because I can't keep track of too many addons in my parts lists, but I know how much mods add to KSP, and try them from time to time. Squad want KSP to be modded, the game is open to addon makers, this is deliberate, why complain about it? Some people like to fly by hand, others not so much but they still like to build and be a part of the KSP community, and the MechJeb hate just gets old real quick now, it's unnecessary, and never has been. MechJeb isn't cheating, using addons isn't cheating, unless you're competing in a challenge where addons are not to be used, go ahead and install what you like.
  20. The MScorefonts should do it yeah, though I have had mixed results particularly with KSP in Wine. The two fonts you need are linked in the opening post of this thread, Arial.ttf and ArialB.ttf, both need to be in your distro's fonts folder
  21. For continued and repeated abuse of challenge rules set by posters, 1096bimu has been disqualified from this challenge, please also note a new addition to the Challenge Rules for future events. And now for my entry, all stock, on the runway and getting me a place on the non-sepratron board with a somewhat hard to see 338m/s
  22. Welcome to the community FLutterFlight Getting to orbit is easier when you follow one simple design guideline, lightweight craft are easier to fly
