  1. It's weird, you post the link, then press enter twice, don't ask my why it works but it (should) does
  2. Not played windwalker but another example would be beyond good and evil, where you sold your pics of creatures and plants to earn money in the game. Hows vf10,000 for a snap of a cactus sound ?
  3. It's already there, in each quote you'll see a little → on the right hand side which will take you directly to it
  4. Moved to modded installs, we'll need more info on what you installed to figure this out.
  5. This'll be really useful for a lot of players @rbray89, so I'm sticking it for January's TOTM
  6. Well done @MoeslyArmlis, this is a great challenge, you're stickied for 2016!
  7. Nice thread @WillThe84th, stickied for January 2016!
  8. This is amazing cupcake, have a well deserved sticky for 2016!
  9. Woohoo! Welcome to 2016 everybody, I'm looking forwards to all the amazing stuff you wonderful people post on the KSP forums this year. But here we're taking a little look back at some of the great threads from December, some of these were nominated by forum members and I think that's the best way to go forwards with the TOTM, so if you see something you really like and think it'd make a great sticky let me know! ( PM's preferred, and not your own threads ) @John FX brings up a good point below, it's not clear how to get to the original comments. The quotes themselves link to the posts via a little arrow on the side, like this. Thanks for the heads-up John! Starting out we have a great suggestion from @nikokespprfan of taking pictures of your missions to earn reputation, why stop there? It'd be cool if pics could boost your funds and science too! I think it's a great idea, that's why it's here Next up we have probably definitely the best VTOL builder on these forums with not only an amazing craft, but a great video to go with it, welcome back @Cupcake...! It's amazing what you can do with engines but it helps to know which is good for what, that's where @WillThe84th comes in and helps us out with his info on different engines in KSP! Great stuff! No TOTM is complete without a challenge, and we have @MoeslyArmlis to thank this month with his remake of @GoSlash27's excellent KSP Caveman Challenge! Great work both of you! From the world of modding comes @rbray89's dynamic texture loader! If you're using a lot of parts this is sure to help @A35K asks the serious scientific question this month to get those of you with an analytical mind mulling the great unknowns, and it fits right in with the recent release of Episode 7. Each of these threads will be stickied in their areas, and don't forget, if you see something worth a sticky let me know I'll leave this open to comments this time, and start a new thread for February onwards, let's see how it goes. Oh, anyone nominating a grump thread will have their inbox stuffed with kitten pics to cheer them up You can find last years TOTM here.
  10. Here's why. This software breaks KSP, you'll need to disable or remove it.
  11. I wonder if wayland and compton will help make KSP smoother, or even if KSP will run at all ... Actually, as you're using ATI graphics how about trying that new radeon driver that has the powerplay patches, it can dynamically reclock ATI cards, which wasn't possible before.
  12. The pic doesn't tell us very much unfortunately WY, a dxdiag hardware report would be much more useful, dxdiag can be run from the start menu by typing it in. The launcher will work to start KSP, just don't click on update, and you can use the launcher to set KSP's graphics settings, though deleting the settings.cfg should have reset them and you should have seen KSP start in a reasonable sized window after that. It's possible you have a bad registry entry for KSP that is setting the graphics, and if you're starting KSP by a shortcut it won't find the settings.cfg, so won't be reset. You could try a program such as ccleaner to find and remove the KSP registry entries, this is safe to do as they only store the screen size and mode. Also make sure your graphics driver is up to date, and that your desktop is at least 1280 x 720 in size.
  13. With KSP in your Steam account it shouldn't be downloading any versions other than the last stable version which is 1.0.4.0861 or the current release which is 1.0.5.1028. 0.23.5 is an old version, possibly you added your old copy from the Squad store to Steam as an external game, you need to remove it.
  14. This has been reported to occur when using fullscreen mode, but not using your desktop resolution. If it's the same thing try windowed mode, or increasing KSP's resolution to match the desktop.
  15. Nice post, oh it turns out you can use the root tool on transparent (non-connected) parts as well, just pick them up first then press 4. We're supposed to be able to activate the root tool then click the craft (or ghost of a craft) we want to re-root, not sure if that got fixed, but normally I just pick up my craft with shift+click then press 4 anyway.
  16. Welcome to the forums Rhombeus This contract is possible with careful adjustment of the Thumpers fuel load, ideally you'd burn out early and coast up to 60 or 70km, hitting 200/260m/s as you hit 46km. Not easy, but you can keep recovering the craft and only pay for the fuel if you add enough parachutes and some landing legs
  17. Yeah nothing in the logs just as you say, I'm not sure what else to suggest. KSP does just crash sometimes, but next time your PC freezes you could try control+alt+F1 to switch to tty1, and log in to the text terminal. You could see if it's only KSP that's not responding in htop, or use startx to get a desktop so you can use your regular task manager. Control+alt+F7 gets you back to your normal desktop.
  18. Thanks for the info Stone Blue, unfortunately it looks like cwc won't be back to update this and he never licensed it so it's all rights reserved. I better close this thread for now, if cwc wants I can reopen it later.
  19. Parachutes wouldn't unfurl in a fairing, but they would in KSP, and they'd stick out the fairing wall. RCS thrusters wouldn't rotate the craft from inside a fairing, but would in KSP. Folding solar panels and radiators will poke out the sides. And players will ask why this happens, there's a fairing, it's unrealistic. Some things don't need to be operable, until you're ready for them.
  20. It would be perfectly fine if it did two things. 1, unstowed parts staged at the same time as the fairing. 2, unstowed parts when the fairing was open to air/space. Having parts inoperable while stowed prevents inexperienced players from destroying their craft by accidentally activating stowed engines. It prevents players wasting RCS on stowed landers. It allows you to use vernors on the rocket while stowed monoprop RCS stays offline without fiddling with action groups. It prevents accidental staging of parachutes inside the fairing. That's just what I can think of now, I'm sure if "activate while stowed" were removed many other situations would be found. As a game mechanic it's not the problem, that it is not working properly is the problem.
  21. It should work but I'm unable to test it (damn you Santa, coal again!), are you getting any error messages in the KSP.log ?
  22. Hi MissMolly, have you tried holding the alt key? It disables surface attach which makes it much easier to fit parts to nodes.
