I learned to avoid it (by proper staging, so that all lifter stages are decoupled when the Periapsis still is below Kerbins surface and all interplanetary stages are either decoupled in deep space, or during reentry). But my games in earlier versions also had a ring of debris around Kerbin (stopped it, when I saw the negative impact on my framerate)

I ahve begun using FAR for my games ... which, I think, answers the question with a clear YES
-
I guess we´ll see an extensive rebalancing of science points/tech costs, as soon as they have added additional Biomes to the larger planets (like Duna and Eve)
-
Which now also makes Apollo-Style landings feasible again (i.e. Spaceship + separate Lander). Also, the new science lab means that you don´t need clusters of science, if you just equip your spaceship with a science lab (and then repeatedly dock the lander to the orbiting spaceship in order to transfer science and reset the science modules on it)
-
It is already 0.24 compatible? I am impressed

If your solar panels are still active, i don´t think so ... if you only have solar panels that have to be unfolded, but haven´t unfolded them when you still had energy, you are screwed, of course

[1.3.1] Ferram Aerospace Research: v0.15.9.1 "Liepmann" 4/2/18
Godot replied to ferram4's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I guess in KSP there is no weight distribution within a certain part ... with other words, the Boosters only get lighter as a whole (without a shift in their weight balance). However, under the assumption that your middle engine is active as well from the beginning on ... your topmost fuel tank gets lighter and lighter (as the fuel for your rocket engine is taken from the top first) and then (after the topmost fuel tank is empty) your middle fuel tank. So, what Ralathon said is correct ... your weight distribution shifts to the lower part.- 14,073 replies

And here hotfixes for a few of the not working mods: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/62222-Hotfixes-Some-hotfixes-for-some-mods-for-23

Dang, there have been so many situations in the past where this knowledge had been very handy. But, well, I guess my Kerbonauts in the future will get much faster back to their ship, if they´re running out of jetpack fuel
-
Patcher worked for me. Has it always been the case that a Kerbonaut on EVA is running if I press Shift + W ? (instead of just walking with W alone)
-
I´m not sure which mod it is, as I have Kerbal Engineer Redux, FAR, DRE, TAC, City Lighs and the procedural fairings installed, but fact is that with these mods installed, a regular EVA is no more possible ... Mech is just flying/bouncing around, fulfilling a really crazy dance upon leaving the capsule Only ddleting all (except Kerbal Engineer and City lights) mods solved it
-
Most probably it is already out and the Admins would just have to flip a switch to give it free ... just they don´t do it, because they want to see us suffer
-
Are we there yet?
-
Almost 1 PM here in germany ... they should really release the patch now (joking of course ... I don´t expect the patch to arrive before maybe 10/11 PM of our local time)
-
Yep, I use them in cases where tests revealed, that separated stages may cause havoc on the remaining spacecraft, but I also use them for launch escape systems (and in these regards they already saved the lives of numeous Kerbals)

I or my part have gotten into the habit of other people ... erecting some kind of mobile home on my ship, that includes, at the least, all crafting stations. I will still make surface bases, but they are just an addition to the base on the ship. Usually, if I have a planet and several moons, I make the more habitable one my temporary home base, so that it is rather easy to return (with a cost of just 1 fuel) It is funny btw. (but also in good old CRPG tradition) ... you can plunder the houses of friendly villages at your own free will and noone says anything ... but never ever run around with a weapon

Elon Musk : "Retire on Mars" : feasible?
Godot replied to BrickedKeyboard's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Well, he (or they, if we assume multiple inhabitants of the mars colony) would already run into problems with creating a self sustaining artificial ecosystem. They already tried it on earth with Biosphere 2, some kind of huge sealed greenhouse, in which it was planned, that a couple of people should survivbe for a set time span without any supply from outside, just with the ecosystem to feed them, supply them with O2 and clean water and process their wastes (and only electrical power and sunlight getting supplied from outside). The first attempt failed ... due to sevral parameters of the ecosystem getting out of control (like animal and fungal growth) but also due to unforeseen reactions of the building material with the produced O2 (meaning that, due to the absorption into the building material, the O2 level was slowly falling). The experiment ended after 2.5 years, during which the inhabitants of the complex had to be supplied from the outside with O2 and other things (thereby invaidating the experimental paradigmum). A second attempt was a little bit more successful, but lasted only 0.5 years, so it is unclear whether the experiment would have fared better in long term. If we already have this problem on earth (where we have good estimations about animals and plants and their behavior) you can guess what probably would happen if we tried it on anothr planet, with another gravitation, other composition and strength of sunlight, other day lengths and so on and where we would have only extremly limited ways to estimate, how the whole ecosystem 8which we want to transplant to Mars) would behave under the alien conditions). And on Mars, any help (like supply runs) would be a long time away, considering the fact that even under good conditions, a trip takes half a year ... so, if there are any problems on the Mars colony that require an emergency supply run within less than half a year, the inhabitants are, without a doubt, lost -
What would yuil build with Saturns Rings? Most of them i would preserve ... and with a little bit of the material I would build a space hotel with view of Saturn and the remaining rings ... the view should be epic
-
Well, what should they do? They didn´t have the technology to send a huge army to Mars, in order to precautionary invade the Martians Didn´t keep novelists, of course, from writing Horrorstories about martians really attacking us (just remember War of the Worlds ... which, when first broadcast on radio, caused a very real mass panic )
-
And surely also 1 handshake away from several american presidents and their wives
-
The best ... difficulty to say ... maybe Elite/Frontier ... don´t think there was another space game that gave us a similar large universe in which we could travel, trade, mine and fight

Crowd-Funded, Water-Propelled Satellites?
Godot replied to Neil1993's topic in Science & Spaceflight
The big question IMHO is, how big the ISp of such an engine is (compared to "normal" ion thrusters, but also in numbers) -
Resources - postponed, cancelled or reserved for a DLC?
Godot replied to czokletmuss's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Actually IIRC, if you preordered KSP before it went to Steam, all future DLCs are free for you -
What has got you interested in science?
Godot replied to Unimatrix1's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Dunno, I was already intrested in science and space early at school. Fortunately my parents fed this curiosity by buying me a series of illustrated books about History, Technology and Nature that was suitable for children/teens
