I have for some time, ArmA 2 ... nowadays (with regards to 1st person military games) I more play Red Orchestra 2 / Rising Storm in Realism mode

(IMPORTANT QUESTION!) What's the best recording software?
Godot replied to quasarrgames's topic in The Lounge
Action (by Mirillis) seems to be nice ... but it is definitely not free (aside from a 30 days test version) -
It depends on the situation ... some people, for example. clip 4 Mainsails together on a 2 Bicoupler arrangement in order to get something that has more power than one of the new engines, but consumes only roughly the same space. I´d definitely call this too cheaty for my tastes, as the clipping in this case involves more than half of the diameter of the Mainsails (no surprise, considering the fact that the distances between the attchment points of bicouplers are just meant for normal sized engines) and gives you a huge advantage. Other cases, where the advantage isn´t this big and/or the clipping involves a minor percentage of the parts, I wouldn´t see as problematic

I can confirm that ... the standard 80 day LS module should give you 320 Kerbal days of supplies
-
Well, if a Kerbin year now is 427 Kerbin days, this seems to be correct
-
Kerbin Time. You can easily see it on a Mun-Mission ... formerly you would make to to Muns SOI in ~6 hours ... now you need one day for this

Are your asteroid capture missions manned or unmanned?
Godot replied to katateochi's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I only just started my first AR missions ... but I started all of them manned (so that my Kerbals can inspect the asteroid durign the process of getting towed in [read, that is gives you science points for each Biome the asteroid is in]). Might change it, if the missions turn out to be too hazardous -

The hills next to the base are the perfect place for rover testing ... if they can navigate this terrain, they can navigate almost any terrain on normal grav worlds
-
Yep, I started a new career ... that´s rather the norm than the exception for me when new major updates for KSP are released

Is the Orange Tank still your standard "yard stick"?
Godot replied to PTNLemay's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Never has been. I always use tons as my measuring unit, even thoug I sometimes I have used orange tanks to simulate payload. Although Fuel in spacestations usually has been delivered in orange tanks in the past, here I prefer to refer to it in tank fillings of the spaceship that gets supplied by the station (for example a munar ferry in case of a spacestation orbiting mun) -

Test of continuing KER developments [0.24.2]
Godot replied to Padishar's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
Addendum to my previous posting about problems with the display of dV for separated Landers (that were part of Apollo style missions) My second lander version has all necessary fuel lines ... nevertheless, the Flight Engineer for the Lander has problems, displaying the dV for the Lander (of course it has fuel and the engines are correctly supplied with it, else I couldn´t have landed on Mun ) The lander alone (which I previously created as subassembly, before uniting it with the Apollo style spaceship) however correctly displayed the dV values ... so it seems to have something to do with the combination and separation of spaceship and lander, I guess -
[0.25] RasterPropMonitor - putting the A in your IVA (v0.18.3) [8 Oct]
Godot replied to Mihara's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Great Mod ... first time in KSP that I actually control large parts of the mission from inside the cockpit A tiny thing (that you probably already know for yourself) is, that UT (I assume, MET as well) is calculated in earth days instead of Kerbin days ... maybe enabling us to switch between these 2 time scales would be great -
Test of continuing KER developments [0.24.2]
Godot replied to Padishar's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
Works fine for me, maybe with one exception ... I had an Apollo style Capsule / Lander setup for a Mun landing, both (i.e. capsule and lander) with their own KER Flight engineer. When I separated the lander from the main spaceship, it didn´t show any dV for the landers engines/fuel tanks. (I might add that the configuration was a little bit faulty: Planned was, that a central tank would supply 4 outlying engines (who also had heir own fuel tanks) ... but I foirgot the fuel lines leading to the outlying engine/fuel tank combos ... nevertheless, KER should have shown me the dV for the fuel in the outlying tanks, as they, correctly, supplied the engines) -
Orbital Lifter Stages are designed so that they get detached befoe orbit is reached ... stages detached on way to the planet will get decoupled so that they don´t get in the way of parking orbits. Also, every stage that falls back on Kerbin is outfitted with Parachutes, so that it has a chance to go down in one piece and be recovered, in order to get recycled/used again

Kerdits ... or, in Analogon to Battletechs C-Bills: K-Bills
-
Did it for a while via Excel, before I discovered kerbal Engineer Redux. Now I let KER do all the work and only notice basic values of my rocket types in Excel (like total costs for a rocket [or specific stage], or its dV and intended Payload)
-
For me it is just On and Off ... I have phases when I play it intensively, then I don´t touch it for a while only to take it out again. At the moment, for example, I just wait for the ARM-Update, which will be the time when I start a new space program from the ground up again.

Yep, if we were to mention non NASA landers, we also would have to mention the 2 russian Lunochods as well as the chinese moon goddess with her jade rabbit
-
There were a few games ... I think most notably Civilization, Frontier: Elite II and Pirates!
-
Noone ... I found it by chance during a google search, downloaded the free version (0.12 I think it was at this time) and was convinced of the game after a short time of playing

NASA To Land A Man On An Asteriod By 2025
Godot replied to The Jedi Master's topic in Science & Spaceflight
So, were the NASA scientists successful in convincing the congressmen that 1. Extraterrestrial aliens pose no threat for terrorism and 2. alien planets are too far away to invade them for oil and other resources ? -
For the first time in I don't even know how long...
Godot replied to tntristan12's topic in The Lounge
I read it, and I have to admit that it definitely makes a lot of sense ... it even puts more sense/reasons into removing Episode 1 (aside from the obvious ones, which are the removal of an annoying character [young Anakin] and minimizing screentime of another one [Jar Jar Binks])
