  1. I know they're not supposed to interact that way, but check that video.. When Kopernicus is installed: They do. (you can even see me writing to the Console "What the o_O" after FPS tanks. The last line before that is that it unpacked the lander) The video I linked literally shows the same install, location, craft, and save both with and without Kopernicus, with MASSIVE differences in framerate. It's a <10 minute video with exact time stamps to the most important bits in the video description. Run it on stock -> It's fine. Run it on stock + Kopernicus -> it's horrible. Cheers. Just wasn't sure.
  2. i5 4670k, GTX980, 16GB ram, 512GB 850pro SSD, XonarDX audio. Honestly I'm guessing most people are running nvidia/intel at the moment. Only the newer builds from the past year or two will have a chance of not running that. (AMD wasn't really a good buy before then) I doubt it's hardware related. If anything it'd be software. Though if I'm being honest I'm actually curious whether anyone can confirm this problem does not affect them. The whole, are people not getting the problem? Or are they not noticing the problem? Similar to how I just dialed down settings like scatter to get decent framerate before I saw others mention the problem here. @Starwaster for example has a different problem alltogether I think as (s)he is seeing insanely high amounts of features. Whether or not (s)he is also experiencing this 200/350m problem: I don't know. With regards to ROC numbers, I noted them down while I was testing for both Stock and JNSQ and both default and high quality presets. For some strange reason, reducing the quality setting will increase the amount of ROCs for both stock and JNSQ. (Though it does reduce quads) Quads Features Stock_Default 116 508 Stock_High 208 253 JNSQ_Default 56 246 JNSQ_High ~110 43 Note that Stock was tested on an actual stock install, so that was with Stock Mun vs JNSQ Mun and different landing sites. For the JNSQ_High quad amount I forgot to reload so it showed 0 instead of the proper number. There were 112 quads loaded during landing, so I assume it was ~10% less had I loaded in already landed. @Galileo - I was wondering what your thoughts are on the inverse relation of terrain quality and feature amount, and the framerate crash/recovery at the 200/350m mark while ROCs are enabled and Kopernicus is installed.
  3. To make sure that that is the last error that makes KSP crash, press alt+f12 and tick the box for “flush log to disk”. That’ll make sure the last few entries don’t get lost if KSP crashes before it adds to the log. Which in the case of crashes is the most valuable info it’ll probably cause a lot more disk IO though so I recommend unticking that box when you’ve acquired a fresh log. Edit: I don’t know the inner workings of Kopernicus and don’t know the details around that specific log message, this advice is purely to get ‘moar info’.
  4. That was only necessary for that one update specifically if I recall correctly, though Galileo can chip in if I’m wrong
  5. Well, I managed to find the base mods needed to show the horrific FPS problem: Stock + Kopernicus (+Dependencies) is all that you need. Below is a video that shows the same craft and performance in Stock followed by the same craft and performance after installing Kopernicus. Output log: https://www.dropbox.com/s/sazezeanpntwvj6/Stock_Recorded_OutputLog.txt?dl=0 The video: (time stamps to specific moments in the video description on YouTube. Full video uploaded to offer insight into how I did what) Edit: Considering this thread isn't filled to the brim with people complaining I'm assuming there might be an external factor at play which means some people don't experience any problems. If you are experiencing this massive drop in FPS, consider going without Kopernicus or setting RoCSeed = -1 in your persistent.sfs to disable surface features completely until this is resolved. Either that or everyone that is seeing this FPS drop isn't aware that installing Kopernicus caused it.
  6. The JNSQ_whatever labels only appear the first time you set up JNSQ. It’s the top left slider in the Graphics menu. Youll probably notice that the last couple of options are all called “high”, the last “high” is actually “jnsq_high”. The order is: low, default/medium, high, jnsq_low, jnsq_default, jnsq_high. Your settings.cfg will save the setting properly, this glitch is purely visual but can make it hard to know what people mean by “jnsq_high” etc. im on mobile at the moment so if you let me know if you’re still having trouble finding it, I can give more detailed instructions.
  7. What he means is that FAR and stock are pretty much incompatible. Remember: a stock craft can still be built with proper physics in mind, but it’ll still behave very different in FAR, mostly in the “need more wings” category. Turn it around and a good FAR craft will behave very different in stock aero. The vision here is that it would be nice if a properly designed craft had similar lift capabilities in both stock and FAR. Which is that ‘one variabel’ thing blabla referred to. After all, the point is that “if it looks like a good plane, it should work like a good plane”. (When focusing on the aspect of lift)
  8. It works for me. Not sure if the look is 'authentic', but it's there
  9. Or use Nertea’s Dynamic Battery Storage mod to work around stock’s EC system quirks.
  10. The nullrefs on right click/hover over the administration building are known. Nightingale has been rather quiet lately so I don't think it'll be fixed anytime soon, but those nullrefs shouldn't negatively impact your game beyond those moments in the SpaceCenter scene. I don't know whether DMagic knows about those basic-dV nullrefs though, so you may want to give him a heads-up with regards to those.
  11. Since it says "Active vessel unreadable" I'm wondering whether something snuck into your savefile that shouldn't have. I have no knowledge about the ins and outs of KAC except that I have not seen this type of behavior locally. Maybe worth a try to load your persistent save, then ALT+F5 to create a new named save, ALT+F9 to load that named save, and then doing another regular save over your persistent.sfs file? Make a backup of the persistent.sfs file just in case. ps: Holy deployed-science batman that's a lot of log spam
  12. Honestly? I'd LOVE the voxelized "Makes Sense™" approach to drag, but stuff like area ruling makes me feel limited due to the legoblock nature of the parts. I think there used to be a version of FAR that was greatly simplified, yet still more logical than stock, called NEAR but I might be wrong. I hate building sweet looking rockets only to realize "oh right.. all those parts in that structural tube aren't actually shielded from drag.. because stock aero and no ModuleCargoBay..". Anything that'd address that would receive my firstborn child.1 1- Terms and conditions may apply.
  13. Well it works. But I'm pretty sure some buttons don't like to be pressed anymore . Though that might've been due to the UI scaling thing.. (couldn't get it to go back to the toolbar after checking stuff out even though I could navigate the minefield that was the scaled alarm drop-down succesfully). Your mileage may vary
  14. Yup, that's why I figured it'd be a no-go. I decided to at the very least go for a completely clean KSP install with just JNSQ + Dependencies. No custom CFGs, launch params or anything else that can interfere. Just got done with sending another craft to the Mun (why oh why did I use that 1 modded girder in my other save..) so I was able to at the very least confirm that I can reliably reproduce it. Tomorrow I'll do some comparing with JNSQ_Default and perhaps even some even more in depth stock vs stock+Kopernicus and/or Stock+Kopernicus vs Stock+Kopernicus+ReScale. Though my plan was to just do nothing at all and listen to the rain after a rough week.. We'll see which plan wins out.
  15. Yeah doing a cloned clean KSP + JNSQ now to see if I can pinpoint it. I shall return with science. Soon™
  16. Wait until you see this: https://imgur.com/a/sZVyKvg JNSQ_High -> 63/8/5 JNSQ_Def -> 330/84/20 Nope, it's not a typo. Yep, I triple checked the settings.cfg to make sure I had the correct preset active. Both screenshots taken directly after loading that save, and then loading it again (ROC stats don't show the first time), without moving. Crap.. I forgot to compare the framerates.. Edit: I think it's time for this bit -> I am running the JNSQ 0.7 official release on Kopernicus 1.7.3-1 on 1.7.3 with ModularFlightIntegrator 1.2.6.0. Any commits made after that release are not in my install. How about yourself? ps. I'm guessing that removing Kopernicus to see whether it's actually Kopernicus causing this is a no go?
  17. I can't tell what setting I'm on with the menu remember I'm 100% sure it was on JNSQ_Default. Especially since I just manually edited settings.cfg to JNSQ_High because I didn't feel like booting KSP up twice if I could help it This is what ROCs I had when I loaded up the already-landed save with Bob EVA'd on the ground: "192m from lander -> 28-35 FPS, 4 quads, 347/87/20 munstone/crater/largecrater. " so that's 454 total in 4 quads, on JNSQ_Default, while loading a stationary/landed save. Checking with JNSQ_High right now. Bah, who needs sleep? ! Yep. That's exactly what I'm seeing too. Though my FPS doesn't crash quite that hard. 360m away from lander everything is fine, get within 200m of it and it dies again. Turn off ROCs and all is fine regardless of distance to lander.
  18. Tried pressing F8? It should show in the top left corner (quite small, white lettering) and in the console. Any noticeable differences when moving 400m away from your lander with a Kerbal and then moving back in? (200m was the moment where FPS degraded again for me upon coming back) None of this makes any sense in the first place. I'll do some proper checking tomorrow and I'll get back to you on that. edit: Seriously.. If any of my friends would come to me with a problem report like this I'd probably recommend them to nuke their C:\ drive and reinstall everything from scratch because I'd assume it to be a classic case of PEBKAC. (Which is still possible, I admit)
  19. Hmm.. That would work very well with @NESD's mk1 open cockpit.. (It's NESD's right?)
  20. Worse FPS I think. That's why I went to JNSQ_Default though I haven't yet compared the numbers to see if _default made a difference. Any specifics you're curious about that I could test?
  21. This would be great! Currently on 1.7.3 I'm seeing some quirky behavior with Bob's Panic Box though: - Opening the settings menu in the Editor will always reset the window to default (off?) settings. - Not seeing any way to modify/check things in Flight (no toolbar or PAW entry) I figured I'd see if there was a 'default.cfg' in the install folder so I could edit those and be done with it but since that's not an option I figured I'd post this here. The mod still works, though I haven't actually tested whether it also works with custom settings. (and it aborted due to AoA once even though I was in space, but below the default 100km. Unsure whether I'd set custom values that time) https://www.dropbox.com/s/gucpu7xla02b56x/BPB_LES_output_log.zip?dl=0 edit: forgot to ping @linuxgurugamer
  22. No worries, it's nothing gamebreaking Expected behavior: Open UI, allow changes by user if so desired. Observed behavior: Open UI, changes instantly made by application. (target altitude being set to current altitude at time of opening UI) Expected behavior with cruise control off: Autoset target altitude to current altitude to prevent sudden control inputs upon activating cruise control + altitude. (so basically current behavior with the exception that it happens if cruise control + target altitude is already on)
  23. AtmosphereAutopilot { use_neo_gui = false } I'm going to go with "I don't think so"
  24. Ever since I reinstalled AA I have this new snazzy UI that appears from the toolbar button. I’m seeing some quirky behavior that I wanted to run by you: When having cruise control active, set to altitude X, and climbing to that altitude, opening the snazzy new UI will set the target altitude to the current altitude. This with just opening the new UI, not pressing or sliding anything. It’s a nice way to kinda say “keep me here” but since that’s what ‘level’ is for I wondered if it’s a bug. Edit: no log at this time as I kept forgetting to save it and post here. Let me know if you’d like it.
  25. No I haven't done any playing/testing with the scan arm. Yes it's JNSQ. Currently more focused on the FPS thing Yes if you think logically. That's why it's even weirder that the non-kerbal vessel + ROCs has a different outcome than kerbal-vessel + ROCs. Because of this I am very much interested in whether or not this can be reproduced by others having similar FPS problems to know whether they're related or if it's an isolated issue. Edit: I went through the log and followed the ShowFPS output for the moments where they change. There is nothing in there except "Packing asdf" just before the FPS increases and "Unpacking asdf" just before FPS decreases again.
