Space X Style Landing Burn
invision replied to thevegimobil's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
since your going to land it and recover it just use more fuel as it only going to cost you fuel which is cheap. also use airbrakes and it should slow you down enough you only need about 10 real seconds of fuel to kill off the last bit of speed. -
Refueling a Interplanetary MegaShip?
invision replied to Crillion's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
i find it easiest to place a drill, smallest ore tank, and fuel converter on the ship and land on any moons nearby to fuel. so launch - get to orbit - go to mun and fuel -get back into kerblin orbit - go to destination if the ship is massive it may be easier to fuel on minmus from near zero gravity tug -
you could and it will be all the same this was just speaking from someone who may only have the budget to buy 1 card. then once the card is paid off you could buy another ect.
-
on the flip side if your someone like me who has a bunch of mods and too lazy to update them all and rather run the old version and never have steam update it open steam go to game and right click select properties find beta tab select which version to run

its free money so you cant blame them you can buy a GTX 1080ti and it pays for itself in 120 days. then buy another and pays itself in 60 days.....and repeat this until you are rich.
-
id only consider it if you had a gtx 1070ti or 1080

Dirt Rally i bought this game because i love racing games and thought it looked cool, had loads of great reviews on steam. but little did i know i had just purchased one of the most hardcore rally games out there. starts race "dont worry guys imma pro, i beat all those need for speed games, im a boss behind the wheel." 5 seconds later * wrecks car* so the last few weeks have been like learning how to kerbal all over again except jumping over hills and drifting 90 degree hairpins turns. great game tho when you arent watching a tree come at you doing 120mph

if you want a new PC because you just do than yes buy it/build it just dont base the way it runs using KSP as you may only find it runs slightly better. just keep in mind the current prices of video cards will give you depression. ram is also through the roof. im just looking out for you man, dont want you wasting that good money.
-
KSP has terrible coding, you can have the best CPU in the world and it can cripple it. all you can do is make sure only important items stay in orbit like sat's and space stations if you have too many things in orbit it can really bog down the system, sometimes the save file is wonky and only solution is new game. also more ram may be a good idea if you use 8gigs just to give you an idea of what i mean i built a new PC with a Ryzen 5 @3.9 ghz with a gtx 1080 @ 1924mhz i was entering the muns SOI and my fps went from 90+ to 15......yes 15fps something in KSP commited suicide and i went to tracking station then back to ship and my fps was back to 90+ so something somewhere in KSP's coding is just not right.

that card should be fine for 1080p gaming. so you have a decent rig actually, what is it not doing you want it too?
-
it doesnt seem worth it honestly. you will only gain about 15% speed but would spend 50% more money comparing the i5 to i7 in the gaming world theres only a 10-15fps difference so you really wont notice the gain. i would buy a new videocard if you havent already. thats where you will see the biggest system gains in performance for gaming.

you can set your ram speed in the bios. if you dont know how to do it look it up online its usually pretty easy. one thing to note which may or may not pertain to you is "did you add ram to this system?" if you did and the old ram is "1600mhz" it will run your faster newer ram at 1600 too so it matches the slowest ram stick. if all ram is 2400 mhz then go into bios and change the speed from 1600 to 2400

okay i found the perfect balance. just use 1 tank on the rear and this thing flew like a boss months ago i was inspired by the XB shuttle and made a similar style setup.
-
turn off only the tanks on the back added for balance, the main rocket remains untouched. once in space you can enable the use of them. use low thrust as balance is still awkward and you should be okay. if you turn on the mono engines on the shuttle and go for orbit it seems to fix the stability issue and you can go full speed.
-
yeah i know. lol was too lazy to spin the rocket also dont forget a battery like i did and have to use the cheat menu
-
its a balance issue so heres a dirty way to fix it. its still not perfect and starts to wobble a bit once out of the atmosphere but it makes it to space and will let you play with it. okay the shuttle weighs almost 7 ton, so we take a fuel tank or 2 and we make it the same weight on the other side, right click the extra tank and turn off the fuel. we will use that fuel later. i added a tail fin for flight stability, and 2 reaction wheels. (pic 3) ------------------------------------------------------------ since we are professionals we can just fly 45 degrees from the start TALLY HO! we can now turn the fuel to the tanks back on and shoot for orbit main tanks drained and decoupled, shuttle on its own fuel. (mono) now its time to land.

this game shouldnt have been ported. it cripples decent pc's i can only imagine how bad it runs on console and watching all the dev notes and posts for month its clear they bit off more than they expected. honestly they should just fully refund all sales if they cannot give users a game that isnt broken. hasnt it been a year now since its release? and its still broken?
-
invision reporting in. it seems the cold in space has caused some small issues and we are currently experiencing shrinkage
-
we have a mission to go deep probing. mission control said its going to be hard. it wont be too long.

I swear, it isn't for KSP. Well, mostly not. Okay, partly not...
invision replied to Zeiss Ikon's topic in KSP1 Discussion
i wouldnt build a pc right now, the prices of graphics cards are through the roof and it would be silly to pay 450.00 for a 225.00 card. i bought a gtx 1080 1 week before christmas for 520.00 and now that same card is 900.00+ this effects all modern graphics cards -
i left a computer core on them so it was counting them as vessels

Are the bugged tutorial missions ever going to get fixed?
invision replied to AtamTab's topic in KSP1 Discussion
i felt the same way, i wanted to smash my keyboard. how could a game be so hard? this crap dont work. unfortunately its one of those games where you have to learn space nerd stuff to git gud. hang tight and ill give you a pretty easy to understand picture tutorial........ okay so we want to head east thats towards the ocean next to us we start turning about 5 sec after left off towards the 45 degree marker on the navball and we pretty much hold it there for most of the flight we decouple the boosters it asks us to press M for the map, bring up your navball if it isnt. we can still control the rocket from this screen. at 900 ms bring the rocket to 35 degrees on the nav ball. when the AP on our orbit line reaches 60k bring rocket to 90. we will be completely sideways now burning for horizontal speed. we are going so fast now our height will increase on its own. hold this until it reaches 75k and stop. okay hard part done, now we time warp to 73k and we put thrust on low and try to time as we pass over 75k our orbit burn is done. and thats how to get into orbit \o/ -
speaking of asteroids. when i figured out how to grab an asteroid i was quite happy. so over the course of the next few weeks i would gather one when i played and put it in kerblin lower orbit. i started to notice the game played worse and worse. my pc was not impressed with me. i would launch and watch my fps tank to 10-15 fps when i got into low orbit. i ended up just starting over.
