high performance mode doesnt shorten the life of your pc, its needed in a lot of circumstances to tell your pc to give the app as much power as it can. like gaming or video editing needs all the power it can handle. also if your CPU supports "boost" mode it will underclock when not in use even when its under high performance mode. my Ryzen 5 is overclocked to 3.9 ghz and will sit idle at 1.6ghz until you boot something then it will kick right in at 3.9ghz and never fluctuate. same with my videocard. i tick high performance mode so it will go straight to 1.9ghz on the cores turbo rather than fluctuate causing stutter because the game wants full power but its being limited to 1.3ghz or less in balance mode

its a old heatsink fan combo from 5yrs ago you probably wont find it on newegg, it was made for AMD boards.
-
just says cooler master on it, no other identifying marks. this thing is noisy as hell you wouldnt want it anyways lol
-
this isnt always true. i have a cpu fan on my other pc that will spin upwards of 8000 rpm and sounds like a jet engine.

Jeb, Bill, and Bob were on a mission to Minmus........... to study what Kerblin and the Mun look like from far away............... they didnt think to bring a shower, the stink leaks from the craft. and terraforms Minmus.............

yeah i know i just try to encourage people to take the plunge, watch videos how easy it is, and build something they will appreciate for less money vs these 999.99 pc's people buy that barely run games.

if you built your own PC you could build a rig for kerbal and other light games for about 350.00 using Ryzen 3 2200g series with the on chip Vega graphics. then you could add dedicated GPU later to transform it into a mid range gaming rig. cpu 99.99 motherboard 75.00 ram 85.00 psu 50.00 case 40.00

A better Mun landing approach
invision replied to MPDerksen's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
if anyone wants to learn how to land ill be playing for a bit and you can see how to go about it -
i still get stutter too even stock game but its short and only happens every so often however compared to 1.2.2 which i played for over a year 1.4.1 runs leaps better and smoother. i have all the same mods from 1.2.2 and updated them all to 1.4.1 and the game runs 60+ fps almost all the time and will hold this frame rate for hours and reach 100+ fps once in space. if i play 1.2.2 the game quickly goes from 60 fps to 30 then by the time ive landed on the Mun or where ever its at 15 fps (20min of gameplay) and the only way to fix it is going to tracking stations and re-loading the craft and it goes back to 60 fps for a while but will start to dip if i go to another body.
-
its more than likely the newer game engine and how it handles tasks. for example in 1.2.2 i would make a decent sized craft of about 60 parts, id start around 70 fps and drop to 30 during launch, then it go back to 60-70. By the time i land on the surface of a planet or moon the game is down to 20 fps then 15. if i go back to space from that surface i may get 40 fps. it will get worse the longer you play. going from tracking center to the ship seemed to fix whatever was making the game slow and will play at 70+ fps for a while until all of the above happen again. now i can launch and hold 60+ fps and have 100+ fps most of the time and maintain 70+ fps the entire game session now, and only atmosphere re-entry or enter seems to drop it to 60 fps. this is running about 15 mods and EVE.

A better Mun landing approach
invision replied to MPDerksen's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
heres a super easy no thinking about it way to go to the Mun from the start pitch slightly east (thats the 90 degree marker on nav ball) towards the ocean. once the atmosphere arrow is in the dark blue area pitch 45 degrees on the navball continue to fly at 45 degree's and press M for map. when our AP reaches 60km we pitch to 30 degree's when our AP is just under 70k pitch 90 degree's and bring AP to 75k-80k we time warp to about 15 seconds to top of AP and burn for orbit now we time warp and let the mun pop out from behind kerblin and click prograde on navball and burn engines. go to map and target Mun. we burn engine until intercept and click the mun and choose "focus view" to see exactly where our orbit is now i very gently low thrust in prograde until the PE is where i want it. DO NOT GO LOWER THAN 10K when close to PE choose "retro grade" on navball and slow down until orbit is reached ...................................................................... and thats all there is to it. now you just have to land. hope this helps. -
played 1.2.2 for over a year then switched to 1.4.1 and im glad i did the game runs much smoother

oh wrong kind of Easter egg
-
ah good to know. i havent looked into how laptop hardware is recently configured and assumed they are still soldered to the board
-
the only way for certain to get the game running better is to buy a new CPU (cant do that for laptops) my old AMD fx-8120@ 4ghz ran kerbal pretty badly once you got to over 50 parts or so, but it ran most other games smooth 60 fps but kerbal would start at 60 fps and slowly drop to 30 or less and stay there. then i built a new pc and used a AMD Ryzen 5 1600@3.9ghz and my fps went from 30-60 to over 100 fps and will stay around there for the entire play session. 300 part craft using the FX-8120 net me 10 fps 300 part using Ryzen 5 net 40+ fps thats pretty good considering you can buy Ryzen CPU's starting at 99.99

Now Making History is out is Multiplayer next?
invision replied to sysigy's topic in KSP1 Discussion
multiplayer could be done actually pretty easily but not in a open world sense. instead they could add team based missions with 3 players each getting a random kerbal role or choose your role depending if your flight skills are up to it. each player could play the role given and the pilot would navigate and fly the course and landings. the scientist could test experiments along the way, engineers can maintenance loose parts from rocket shake and fix anything that breaks. objectives could be used to start a automatic time warp giving all players a chance to fulfill duties. examples could be getting to orbit, performing needed science and if things need to be repaired from lift off. if all players fill objectives the next phase could be burning for planet interception. once interception is complete the players can all agree to a automatic time warp that will bring them to their next objective. obtaining science and routine maintenance while around the sun. given there will not be much for the pilot at this phase maybe they could fill some other cabin duties while scientist and engineer EVA to reset science and fix any need parts. once complete all players can agree on a final time warp to the planets SOI. the next phase of objectives can be obtaining an orbit, do more science and maintenance then come down for landing or give the player an optional side quest to land or orbit any moons near by. make players land in specific areas of interest to collect data and send it back. the mission could end somewhere around that area once objectives and goals reached to keep missions on the short side of under 1hr. maybe have a leader board for competitive players like "fasted to the Mun and back under 12 ton" and meet the objectives so people could compete against other on their own time. -
did jeb eat the beans again?

i dont know what Jeb did but apparently Eve was very upset with him
