My wish list is very short
Geonovast replied to Zeiss Ikon's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Depends on how it's better. There are so many factors. Like you said, it uses one processor. So while most people would say an 8 core processor is "better" than a 2 core one, if that 8 core is running at 2 ghz, and the 2 core is at 3.5ghz, all other specs aside, KSP will likely run better on the 2 core. This is why, when I bought a new computer with KSP in mind, my main concern was clock speed. This is especially a concern with laptops, as most consumer laptops I've seen have had fairly low clocks, even with multiple cores. I'm assuming this is because of heat and battery life. -
Unless you have a computer capable of handling massive rockets, this is really the only way to build a space station. Remember, that when you have two ships (like a tug and station component) docked together, the game treats them as one single ship. So if you have a tug with an RCS tank and RCS thrusters docked to a station component with just RCS thrusters, the tug will use the thrusters on the component, because it's one ship. Since I've got a pretty decent computer, I've sent stations up in kits, and assembled the whole thing with one or two launches using a tug / orbiter. https://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/index.php?/topic/27292-what-did-you-do-in-ksp-today/&page=1460&tab=comments#comment-3170031

totm aug 2023 What funny/interesting thing happened in your life today?
Geonovast replied to Ultimate Steve's topic in The Lounge
Last night I had one of those "my god, I'm old" moments. Me and the mini-me went to Sonic to get some easy dinner, left mommy at home. Carhop brings out our food, and the kid says to me: "That's an interesting Jeep you have there. Is it really a Jeep, or did you just glue Jeep stuff to it?" I said: "No, it's real. They made these from '86 to '92." Carhop: "Oh, I wasn't around back then." Granted, I was born during the production run, but the kid had clearly never seen a Comanche before. He was probably born this century. So naturally I went home and played my video game while sobbing uncontrollably into my burger. How many do you have? I've got 4 printers. Had a 5th, but gave it to my brother. -
Possible to get mods for old versions of KSP?
Geonovast replied to Draconiator's topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
You'd have to check each individual mod. I see quite a few that still provide downloads for older versions of KSP, but I'd say it's insanely unlikely that new mods will be developed for it. -
Today I finally got enough mods installed to break 1,000 MM patches. It's just amazing the work people have put into making this game even more incredible than it already was out of the box. If you've created or helped create a mod, thank you! Lucky. All my friends are boring.

Who is the most significant person on the forum to you?
Geonovast replied to cratercracker's topic in Kerbal Network
I haven't been here long, but I like it. There are a few people I notice I interact with more than the rest, but I don't know if I really know any of you yet. So I guess the moderation staff is most significant for keeping this forum a place I want to come back to. -
No save game loading
Geonovast replied to UHU's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
Google Drive is what I use to upload stuff like that. The autosave file is: Kerbal Space Program/game/saves/<name of save>/persistent.sfs Where the Kerbal Space Program folder is depends on your OS, what version of the game you have (i.e. GoG, Steam, Store install), and if you told it to install anywhere else. What version of the game do you have? -

Can you upload the save somewhere and provide a link? -
Adding parts whilst in orbit.
Geonovast replied to Quinceya23's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I'm assuming you're using KIS/KAS? I've been getting into the habit of attaching hand rails first so the Kerbal can grab on before attaching the part. To move heavier stuff, you just need more Kerbals in range. -
I was told there'd be cake.

I lost all my craft because i deleted the save file
Geonovast replied to Legopilot's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I did the same thing once. I tried a lost file utility, but no dice. I wish there was an option to simply have the game refuse to create a new game with the same name, instead of overwriting. I mean, it does warn you, but who reads that stuff? -
I thought it was incredibly frustrating until I learned how to line up the prograde marker with the target marker on the navball. Now I'll typically have to make almost no adjustments while drifting in for the last couple hundred meters. Usually none if I'm in high orbit. I love docking now. The Navball by itself can be very intimidating until you get used to it.

Thanks for the advice, I think I have some basics now, and it's just gonna need practice at this point. Although I'm probably "cheating" a bit with the anchors and KIS struts. I just gotta remember to quicksave before I load the vessel, as once in awhile it rips the struts off and/or explodes on load. Although it did that without the struts too

I've got quite a few that I really like, but I think the only ones I must have at this point are KIS/KAS and Konstruction!

Nope! Uh, @Lo Var Lachland? I guess? Maybe?

Mounting my rover to a rocket
Geonovast replied to Starchaser's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
You don't really even need to drop it. You can touch down, and just decouple as soon as you touch down. With the drop in mass, the thrust you're applying to slow down should suddenly be enough to start pushing the descent vehicle back up. Then you can land nearby the rover. -

I thought they announced they weren't ditching it because of the backlash? It really would suck if they got rid of it, MSPaint is one of the very, very few redeeming aspects of Windows.

Cargo-hold part placement problem
Geonovast replied to JohnM_83's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
This doesn't work for me, I don't know if it's a Linux thing, Nvidia thing, or both, but I have to use right shift. Same with the debug menu. It's right shift + F12.- 5 replies

It's not that the games need 16, it's that the computers tend to be doing other things. OS is gonna grab a few gigs, modern browsers can be memory hogs, for some reason, Spotify usually sits slurping at least a gig. I think you went the wrong way. 8GB is a bit high for NASA. 8MB might be more like it.
