I also suggest working on docking. It can be frustrating to learn, but once you get the hang of it, it'll turn it into a new game.

Eagle when I was 16. My older brother got his at the same time, and we shared a ceremony.

How can I get a clean copy of KSP?
Geonovast replied to srsufofo's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
Backup your saves, uninstall the game, and re-install a fresh copy. If that's all good, start re-installing the mods, one by one. Starting up the game and testing after each mod. Also, get your mods from the links provided in the forum threads here, not twitch. Also make sure they're compatible with 1.3.1 by checking the forum thread. -
Which set of buildings do you click on to launch a ship?
Geonovast replied to Aegolius13's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I almost always have tweaks to do (i.e. adding/adjusting a payload) so I never launch straight from the pad or runway. -
I prefer "If you build a man a fire, he'll be warm for a night. If you set a man on fire, he'll be warm for the rest of his life." As much as I dislike Windows, I love MS Paint. There's something very appealing to how simple they keep it, since almost all image editing programs out there now feel like they need to be on a photoshop level. Pinta isn't too bad. But for quick and dirty editing, you can't beat Paint. It's the only thing I miss about Windows. @Jack5.exe, if you're just having trouble getting it to look the way you like, try using a program that does layering. This will let you move stuff around and make any adjustments to each piece without worrying about affecting the background.

You need to use an image hosting site like Imgur. (Do NOT use Photobucket. They want like $500 to allow hotlinking.) I use CubeUpload. Insanely easy to use and you don't have to have an account. Upload your picture, then you need to copy the full image URL, like this: http://u.cubeupload.com/Geonovast/6c2Screenshotat20171202.png It will automatically convert to a picture after you paste it.

[Minimum KSP version - 1.12] Kerbal Inventory System (KIS) v1.29
Geonovast replied to IgorZ's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
If you go to the original forum thread (there's a link in the first line of the new thread), there will be a link to the User Guide. -
Hit F5 to do a quicksave. Generally good to do right before any major manuever. If things hit the fan, hold F9 to reload to the point you hit F5 at.

Just took this after burning to a return trajectory from the Mun to Kerbin. Felt kinda right.
-
...Kraken #2! Got this far in the re-fuel / rescue op. Val hooked up a pipe, refueled the plane, then disconnected the pipe. She was just walking back to the KIS container to get her command seat to weld inside the plane's cargo bay, when she tripped on the wheel strut, go catapulted under the service, spaghettied, and disappeared in a puff of smoke. I never had these issues with 1.3. I might go back.
-
Today I encountered my first Kraken. Just achieved LKO, staged a fairing... and the craft disintegrated. I didn't even get an explosion. A few pieces did survive, hurling into deep space at roughly 3c. Nobody was on board, but it was a fuel pod being sent to give a helping hand to a pair of dumb-dumbs who flew a plane to the Mun and didn't bring enough fuel to get back.
-
I don't care what you are, as long as you put your hands in the yellow circles.
-
About return trajectories, or getting out and pushing?
-
Since you made it to Munar orbit, you could do a return ejection with the good ole' get-out-and-push method. EVA fuel is infinite, in that it refills when you get back in the craft. Might take a few orbits, but if you plan it right, you should be able to get on a free return trajectory for a Kerbin re-entry. I saw a really good tutorial on doing that awhile back, don't remember where, but it was @Snark who'd posted it.

That's...uh, Kerbin. Interesting test. I didn't time either one, but it seems like their heating periods were the same. The first time, everything cooled down as soon as I slowed down to about 600 m/s, except the cockpit. That was still glowing when I landed. Second test, it cooled down the same time as everything else.
-
I'm going with bug. I just did a 3-pass retrograde re-entry with the same craft. First pass hit atmo at about 3200m/s. I lost all 4 airbrakes in the first few seconds, as well as one of the intakes. Pretty much everything on the plane got red-hot on each pass... yet here we are, cool as can be.
-
Jeb. It's Jeb. Until he climbed out, the cockpit was glowing. Had been glowing the entire time from beginning of re-entry to landing. Is this... normal?

Banned for replying while I was banning someone else.

What Platform do you hhave KSP on?
Geonovast replied to The Man Myth and Legend's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I've got the GoG version, playing on Linux Mint. PC for the mouse (and now ability to mod), GoG for the DRM-free. I've been mainly a console gamer. But really platform depends on the type of game. I'd almost exclusively played FPS games, which work quite well with a controller. However, now that I have a real non-potato computer, I have been playing a bit of Portal and Borderlands with a mouse, and I'm getting used to it. Some games I just can't fathom how they work on a console. KSP is one of them. Starcraft being another. I don't think I'd be able to handle it. I just think some types of games work better with a mouse. Some work better on a console. You get the stupid elitists between consoles, and PCs as well. Shamefully, I used to be one of them. I can't tell you how many times people would try to convince me that Playstation was better than Xbox. Them: Bah, The Playstation is way better than stupid Xbox! It has (insert garbled technobabble they didn't actually understand). Me: Can it play Halo? Them: Uh, No... Me: Well then. It really sucks that the console version is currently broken. Hopefully the new port will be nice. (Unless it's out - I haven't checked). If that's how you roll, more power to ya! I haven't tried MATE on Ubuntu. If I ever run a desktop Ubuntu, I'll definitely go MATE. I think the Unity DE is ugly and insanely cumbersome. I started with Cinnamon on Linux Mint, switched to MATE initially for performance reasons on my laptop, but now I think it's more friendly than Cinnamon. MATE is a really nice DE for utilitarians like myself.
