  1. Fair enough. Though the LH2 is for the upper stage, right? A lot of launch vehicles use different fuels for their first and upper stages, but I can't think of one that uses different fuels for its centre core and liquid boosters. I'm not sure if that would make a difference.
  2. I don't think it really fits in either thread. 'KSP memes megathread' is for memes about KSP and 'Forum Memes' is for memes about the forum. In the end I decided to post it here as it fits here a little bit more than in the forum memes thread.
  3. If you have Raptors and Merlin 1Ds on the same rocket then you'd have to worry about loading both liquid methane and RP-1.
  4. OK...this is a general spaceflight meme and not a KSP meme, but we don't have a thread for spaceflight memes, so I just decided to put it here.
  5. Yeah, I doubt you'll get 685 posts per day. Good luck anyway, I don't have anything random to post
  6. Is it? Halley's Comet is on a highly eccentric orbit of the sun (i.e, not one of Earth's moons), whereas Minmus is on a circular, slightly inclined orbit of Kerbin. Minmus is one of the only celestial bodies in KSP that doesn't have any obvious analogues in the real solar system.
  7. @ShadowZone made this nice breakdown of what we saw in this video: Also, @The Aziz got mentioned, good job
  8. Huh. Elon hasn't tweeted any info on SN7's pressure test either.
  9. No pics, sorry. I built and tested the entry, descent and landing system for an Eve rover. I've been using a standardised rover design in my latest career - in addition to examples on the Mun and Minmus, there is one on its way to Duna. I found that this rover design doesn't fit horizontally behind a 2.5m heatshield, so I decided to mount it vertically inside a fairing for Eve entry. This means the vehicle has a bit of a mass imbalance during entry, but it still manages to survive. The design seems fine for now, but I feel like I might tweak it a little before the Eve transfer window comes around.
  10. They need to build a helipad on top of the new high bay and land Starship on it
  11. Figured out how to embed tweets! Apparently you have to paste it as plain text.
  12. Seems like this image demonstrates the ability to edit multiple subassemblies at once, too. That smaller module isn't attached to the main vehicle but it's not ghosted out.
  13. We only got a short glimpse of it, so I wouldn't jump to conclusions. They may completely overhaul the terrain but they'll probably keep its overall look.
  14. Good to see the developers are still working hard. Some awesome new footage too, Minmus looks amazing!
  15. Take a look at the LabPadre stream too, Cam2 has a pretty cool wide view:
  16. Yep, I believe Lenovo does do an official user manual for a lot of their devices. I'll have to find the one for mine. Thanks for your help. I tested the CPU temps while playing KSP and they were, on average, 95 Celsius or more, but since the ambient air temperatures are quite high today (31 Celsius) I think I'll wait for the weather to cool down before testing it again, just to be sure.
  17. Here's my Kerbin space station from my current career: This is mostly used as a transfer point between Kerbin SSTOs and Mun/Minmus transfer vehicles, so it is not permanently crewed. In the future I plan to expand it so that it can receive interplanetary transfer vehicles as well. There are three vehicles docked to the station in this image: Top is a Kerbin System Transfer Vehicle (KSTV) used to shuttle Kerbals to and from Kerbin's moons Middle is a nuclear tug, used for shuttling large payloads around Bottom is a crew transfer SSTO, with a capacity of 3 kerbals I also have a Munar space station, which has a similar purpose to the Kerbin one - act as a transfer point. Sadly the only image I have of it is when it was being inserted into Munar orbit by a tug (in fact, the same tug shown in the image above). This station has two propellant tanks attached to it for refuelling reusable landers, which can be used for surface sorties and crew transfers for my eventual Mun base.
  18. @BadOaks Awesome ascent vehicle and exploration aircraft! I'm thinking about stealing that design for an exploration vehicle when I eventually send Kerbals to Eve
  19. So recently, I've been having some weird performance issues with my laptop (an old Thinkpad T420), particularly when playing KSP. The game will run fine for a while (~30 FPS) before abruptly dropping down to ~10 FPS. It will remain at this level for a while before jumping back up to 30 FPS. As far as I can see, this cycle will continue as long as KSP is running. Maybe it happens with other games too, I haven't tried. I looked at CPU performance in task manager, and I found that when it goes from high to low FPS in KSP the CPU throttles back from close to its max clock speed (2.8GHz, it's a i7 2640M) to around 0.78GHz, and CPU usage goes from ~60% to ~25%. I suspect thermal throttling, and sure enough when I downloaded a program to check CPU temps it's pretty hot - it's hovering around 70 degrees Celsius with only Google Chrome open. I haven't yet tested with KSP open but I estimate it's probably in the 90s. I guess I probably need to replace the thermal paste, and maybe clean out the fan as well. Fortunately, my particular model of laptop is well-known for its accessible internals (making it relatively straightforward to upgrade/repair), and indeed I found a fairly comprehensive guide on replacing the thermal paste on the T420. I guess I'm going to have to take my laptop apart, but do you guys have any other recommendations?
  20. Testing uploading log files using Google Drive: Seems like this works. As far as I can see someone clicking the link can't see my entire account.
