  1. I suppose it's just easier to put "unsurvivable" on the landing and rescue the capsule in some unforeseen manner than to install Apolloesque floaty things and invest in one or two recovery craft for a more guaranteed rescue. I suppose they could hire Spacex's Mr. Steven...
  2. Tin can with string. It has excellent battery life, and service is practically free.
  3. Hm. Apparently the jetpacks are operable even when the occupant is... out of commission. Remote control, perhaps? Or mind powers?
  4. That middle video, when the technician's poking it with a stick is simply beautiful. An entirely new level of art and science, unprecedented except by Boston Dynamics and their hockey stick. I wasn't aware that they were working on any such program, but good for them. That's actually quite impressive.
  5. @Geonovast If you aren’t already, perhaps try using the Beta. It’s still Blender-y but actually has the vestiges of a normal user interface rather than the traditional “un-terface.” Blender is a unique creature, but hey, it’s free.
  6. Could be that they didn't and Rosuki & Co. will have to re-appropriate the pieces of Continuum infrastructure. Houston, we've got a cliffhanger.
  7. Make sure the toilets still flush, the radio still works, and the sun still shines. You never can can be too sure when a psychiatrist and a plumber did the wiring.
  8. Calling 911 because this thread doesn’t have a disclaimer.
  9. @The Wandering Cosmonaut There are quite a few good fan works out there. Here are a few I personally enjoy: Forgotten Space Program is both well written and intriguing and in between the mission-report and novella categories. I would recommend reading the "prequels" as well once you get a good way into the story. Duna, ore Bust! (and its sequels) are KSP classics and some of the funniest fanworks on the site. Plan Kappa is an excellent fan comic in the style of Kerbfleet with a suprisingly gripping storyline. It has paused on a cliffhanger, though, as the creator hasn't been seen for a while. The Moderation Nation Space Program is definitely a fun mission report. It's interesting to see the collaboration between multiple users. The Camwise Logs is a novella set on, instead of Kerbin, Earth. It's an interesting, well written take on Kerbal Space Program. Shadows of the Kraken is a novella style work. It (and especially its sequels) are a bit darker than most fan works on the forum, but they're still good, reference packed reads. Alien Skies is a mission report with some of the most challenging mods installed. It's a good library of crushing failures and surprising successes. The Truth Can Now Be Told is a series of interesting photographs and narratives that highlight a largely unknown portion of our lunar program. 2001: A Space Absurdity is a hilarious and beautifully illustrated parody of a film/novel that bears the almost same name. LOST on Laythe is an original story in the same vein of Space Absurdity. Another excellent work, both for funniness and pictures. I'd highly recommend all of these for your reading list, but there are, of course, more than a few other excellent fan works around the forum. Enjoy!
  10. @Simog Much more creative than Blue Origin's Blue Moon rover deployment system. Hopefully nobody's inside the bases while the rack is turning!
  11. So they survived. Tough little creatures. The fleas, that is.
  12. @astrospacedude I may be wrong, but I believe the Kopernicus mod will fix that to some degree. I think they incorporated the fix you linked a little while ago. Enjoy!
  13. This species would resemble a 70s era automobile. Their skeletons would form a car frame shape, overlaid by a photosynthesis capable, paint-like, shell. Their “engine” would be composed of a quick firing bone and muscle system arranged in a similar manner to a railway pump cart. This would drive the “wheels,” composed of a wood like substance with an air bladder around. Within, the “cabin,” or stomach, fed by a mouth in the region of the gas flap and another under the engine, would have digestive fungal growths resembling luxury seats. Although their cognitive ability would be somewhat limited, their fantastic speed would allow them to catch unsuspecting prey. They would communicate via air blasts released from a bladder that produced a honking noise and bioluminescent lights positioned around the perimeter. Alpha organisms would assert their dominance by blasting deep bass from another “speaker” organ, although this would frequently cause them to be executed by other members of the pack.
  14. What if they wanted to remain forgotten? Just a story idea. Alternatively, incompatible communication software could make it difficult. Out of curiosity, would it be easier to just create a new save, copy the old vessel list and astronaut roster over, and use the search and replace feature to set all the vessel types to “Unowned” or “Debris”? Is there an obstacle or more efficient way? Or is that what you do already? Thank you! I’m glad to see this wonderful mission report up and running again.
  15. State and discuss triumphs, congratulate other forum members, and, in a general manner, talk about the sunny side of your life.
  16. Still not working. KSP is broken.
  17. ttttttNo, it's notttttt justtt you. ttttt tt Why won't the stupid SAS turn on?
  18. What about these things? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fireless_locomotive Not intended to be an indirect comment of any sort, I just think they're cool.
  19. A bit late to the party, but great job on the DLC so far! I think that expanding surface exploration is an excellent move, as currently the surfaces are a bit drab. Landers are currently kinda land-flag-return affairs. Now we will have even more reason to randomly ignite their engines and soar off to harebrained, zero success impromptu landings across the surface. A question, with all that extra science, will we be getting a small career revamp? Even if it's just a tech tree re-arrangement, that would be great and fit well with the overall theme. Thank you and keep up the great work!
  20. But gravity. In space. (That still bothers me.) Also, I noticed in the trailer that they used the slow-motion cam for action shots. Practically the only time they used that in the original trilogy was when Obi-Wan died, and even then it was just frame, frame, frame. In other words, don't make my cheesy 1970s space opera into a cheesy 2019s action movie, bub.
  21. Not any problems I can see, stock parts or modded. Things get busted up, leak, and overheat as usual. Perfect! Thank you for making our explosions simultaneously less explosion-y yet infinitely more entertaining-y for the past three years!
  22. Whew. Looks like they (at least mostly) put it out. I had visited there a month ago; kind of a shock to see it go up like that. It's certainly a blessing no one was hurt, though, and great that they were able to save most of the historic structure. If I remember correctly, the roof was a 18th or 19th century replacement.
