@Pavel ☭ It may be a trim issue. Try holding down the "alt" key and pressing the "x" key; that will reset it. If you have a joystick connected, it might be giving faulty input; happens all the time with me. Try re-calibrating it, increasing the dead zone, or removing it. P. S. - You only need one ModuleManager version. You can delete all the others.

Sometimes, I despise my obsession with efficiency. I had a rescue contract and two recover part contracts. I looked on the roster: "Oh, he's an engineer. He can screw the parts to the ship; all I'll need is a small craft with a pilot to bring the screwdriver." Now, ladies and gentlemen, let me present you with a sanity test: Can you guess which parts of the craft were not present at launch? That's right, the LES and the gigantic turbofan engine. And I had to land with these. It was successful, but poor Ribfen had to jump out of the pod while it was still in the air and switch some parts around to balance the weight.

@FreakingoutOMG Try going to the KSP folder (the one that contains the GameData folder) and opening "settings.cfg." Find the line that says "MISSION_SHOW_EXPANSION_INFO = True" and set it to "False." That should make it disappear next time you launch the game.

@Spazmatastical The "Mod is Outdated" popup can usually be safely ignored. It does matter in some more complex mods, but not in a simple little patch like this, and not with a small version change like 1.4.2-1.4.5. As far as the patch itself goes, make sure that you have ModuleManager installed. Otherwise, any ".cfg" patches won't work. Alternatively, you could change the "disableAfterPlaying" attribute to false in the part's config file, located at: GameData/Squad/Aero/InflatableHeatShield/HeatShield.cfg. Enjoy!

When you hide a user's signature, does it notify them? Also, how do you report a user's profile or the user themselves?

An interesting first Munar encounter...
GearsNSuch replied to gruesomebrat's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
Were... Were they able to come home safely? That's always the biggest concern. Nice job, though. I love it when the lines line up like that. Hilke will certainly have some interesting stories to tell, assuming he can survive twelve days with Jebediah... A similar event is in the spoiler. -
The Icons of the parts are missing
GearsNSuch replied to Alakelele's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
@Alakelele So, it would appear that you are running the game with the "-force-d3d11" argument. Currently, that causes the icons to disappear (as well as a whole lot of other problems). Try disabling that. -
I will be very disappointed if this does not (re)appear. The Titanium Shuttle has always been one of my favorite craft in this mission report. Glad to see it return. Thank you!

About to purchase but.......
GearsNSuch replied to anoldgrumpytroll's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
@anoldgrumpytroll In my experience, the latest version of KSP works just fine on a 2012 bottom-of-the-line Mac Mini running High Sierra. I believe the issue mentioned in the thread linked above was resolved when they updated to Unity 2017. I think you'll be okay. Enjoy! -
Ground Effect Development Thread
GearsNSuch replied to Capital_Asterisk's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
This certainly looks interesting. I'll have to try it out. By the way... If it's convenient for you, would it be possible for you to publish your Kerbals-popping-out-of-the-capsule-when-it-explodes mod? I'm willing to try anything that increases my astronauts' chances of surviving. -
The Soyuz spacecraft itself is an incredible feat of engineering with an amazing safety record. It is the oldest and most reliable craft currently available. If I had to guess, however, the lack of failures has led to complacency in the manufacturing process. A false sense of security, administrative errors, and lack of funding are most likely the culprits, rather than a flawed or poor design. To summarize: Soyuz program good, management bad. Soyuz goes to space, management drills holes. Maybe the Kerbals did it...
-
I'm not entirely certain that everyone on the Soyuz construction team is a "skilled technician." Probably not a truckload of random fellows off the street, but equally unlikely for everyone to be the best of the best. After all, I'm sure they have the construction of the Soyuz down to a (supposedly foolproof) science. Also, due to pressure, sleep deprivation, or the effects of various substances, even someone with years of experience in the field might make a similar mistake. Whoever did it most likely didn't report it for fear of losing their job. As far as the astronaut theory goes, there are much more effective ways to go home early, such as feigning severe illness or, to be honest, saying that the stress is too much. Not saying it's beyond them (they are people, after all), but very unlikely, considering that there are much better options.

[KSP 1.6.1] Stock Visual Terrain [v2.2.0] [20 March 2019]
GearsNSuch replied to Galileo's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
@Neldonax No, unfortunately it will not work without Kopernicus. In other words, if Kopernicus doesn't work on your save, this won't either. Next time, you might want to look at the "Requirements" section on the mod's first page or test it yourself.- 1,019 replies

Why is it that I never have any screenshots of important missions but always have an abundance of pictures from grindy contract flights? Well. Thank you, Genovast.

LOST on Laythe - Chapter 17 - Guess Who's Coming for Dinner
GearsNSuch replied to purpleivan's topic in KSP Fan Works
The way you portrayed the "kerbal-ness" (semi-organized chaos, F12 engine, prophetic television shows, etc.) of it all is quite comical. The screenshots, of course, are the usual PurpleIvan Quality™: simply stunning. I am very much enjoying it so far and looking forward to more in the future, especially the part when they discover that "Tiddles" isn't actually going to hit Kerbin. -
Perhaps you should rename that solar panel / radiator module to "Kessler's Syndrome." I don't even want to think about what all of those tiny bits of panel flying around did (or would have done, if they were persistent objects) to your space stations. Or your computer. Hold on a minute...
-
@Dexter9313 The mod Flight Plan might be what you are looking for. It shows all the events that will take place in your current mission and displays the total ∆v.
-
Kerbal Space Program just wouldn't be the game we all know and love if it weren't for bugs. Squad had done a pretty good job of fixing many of these, but they will always hold a special place in our hearts. So, what particularly entertaining, strange, or interesting bugs have you encountered?
-
@Enzo-004 Yes, this mod does work in 1.4.2. I consider it an almost essential mod and have used it from version 1.2.2 to 1.4.5. In case you don't know, here's how to install it: Download it, unzip the file you receive, drop everything in that file in to your "GameData" folder, and launch the game. Go to the VAB and mouse over an engine. If the mod is working, then at the end of the engine's description it will say "Plume configured by RealPlume." If it is working for the default parts but not for a specific mod, that mod might not be supported by RealPlume. Enjoy!

I never thought that this was what would finally push me to create an account, but what I have to say today cannot be left unsaid, as it has been for three days. The "KFC" logo you created. To say that it redefines beauty would be an understatement. -----Addendum 1----- Ah. Thank you for the link. I really can't help myself when I see a piece of "fine art" such as that. Speaking of fine art, I will have to give your challenge a shot. Looks quite interesting. And potentially crispy.
