Shielding engines from aerobraking
Mikenike replied to Fraktal's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Bite the bullet, attach the extra girder, and lower the angle, more weight but more efficient overall. -
I knew that but what does OTS offer that the academy doesn't??I can go academy and get certified in other things, and if I do well enough, I can go through some simulator training in junior year, as well as have my private pilots liscense by then, (hoping to start training next year, 14-15 yrs old, so by the end, I'll be 16, and I can just take the test and be on with it.
-
Really?? I tought that the academy would have been a better idea than OTS. Out of curiousity what are you wanting to do for the Air Force?
-
My good buddy @Gargamel is honestly one of my favorite mods, up there with Adsii and Dman, and of course, the great Vanamonde. I don't want to put them in any order, they are all great.
-
@The Minmus Derp, he did.

We still don't know how it happened exactly, but it did. Why is everyone pointing out that Tina's eye i out of its socket and start questioning other things, as we can infer by the title, she'll be fine. She survives, because she couldn't have written the memoirs as a dead person, and she couldn't have been a kerbonaut without truly going to space.
-
Had to reread the story, I didn't catch that the first time. Nah I think she'll be fine, judging by the fact that it is memoirs of a Kerbonaut and not of a wanna-be-Kerbonaut.

I am thinking of applying to the USAF college right out of high school. And using CAP to boost my career for now. Joining CAP in a few weeks here. Our local CAP squadron isn't tied to a school or anything, so I get to join no matter what school. But in the USAF if you go through the Air Force Academy you become an officer, which is what I plan to do. I would also be helping my ability to go that route through CAP. If I cannot go through the Air Force Academy, then I would join the Marine Corps and just become enlisted, and not go to become an officer through Annapolis. What do you plan to do?
-
Guess I need to pick mine up off the floor as well. Great. I want to become an officer in USAF, or if I can't become a USAF officer, enlist in the Marines. I'd love to fly for the USAF.
-
I haven't seen that happen to me. @Vanamonde, who is the truly lead mod, you or @Supernovy?? You have the same title, but there can only be one.

I just never saw the Kerbals being as voiced of that type of stuff. I just never saw them being gay.

Well, here goes Fridays new post. I want to say I am sorry for my off time, as I have been busy. All this weekend I ran around doing stuff. Alrighty, lets begin. I love Friday, its just a good day. I woke up, took my retainer out, got in the shower, got out, shaved, and got dressed. I then grabbed my trumpet case, and my bag, and headed out the door with my dad. We got to school about 6:45ish. I walked to my first period, after dropping my trumpet off at the "pound", our band locker room, named for its many cages. I would typically hang out in the band room or in one of the common areas until 1st period, however because of [snip] I can't. So I checked in with my teach, Mrs. L, and opened my chromebook, and hopped on the forums, as per usual. At 7, we got started. To be completely honest, I toned her out and chilled on the forums. Well a short while later, and I was up to my second hour. We went over some things, and presented our group assignments. Easy to do, for me atleast. After that, it was a short trip over to P.E. or as we call it right now, Useless 101. It went by quick, just me giving some basic answers to my friends. In band, we didn't actually play. We helped set up a tent, one of those big ones, like the ones you see businesses have. Half of us, or the other half, helped count shirts from last year. The remainder of the time we sat around and got to know each other. Despite it being 8 weeks in, I don't know half of my classmates names. In physical science, we didn't have much, a small test, which of course, I aced. Next was lunch, typically luch on Friday is fish, because of someone's religion, I don't know why, but it is. And it's kind of obvious that someone finally complained, because we had grilled cheese that day. I didn't eat the grilled cheese, instead I had an apple, and some fries. I moved on to IBCA where we had a test on what finger what key. I can't remember the keyboard like that, so I did pretty bad. Next was geometry, which I also had a test in. This was a vocab test that was kind of easy, and I hope I passed it, cause I have a C in geometry. After school, I went to tennis, one of the many sports I play. Tennis was a breeze, mostly because me and the coach love to talk, and partly because I love tennis. Tennis on Friday, is a relaxed time, because I have had cross country runs for the majority of the week. We have regionals on Thursday, and I don't have school today, as my school district uses the schools for polling places all day. So Thursday's edition will be a little short. And today we will unfortunately not have an edition.

It was a little. But in reality, I'm not opposed to that at all, but I would have preferred it be with a less central and important character.

*SIGHS IN DISBELIEF AND SADNESS*. Since when was Val gay???? Why not have her hook up with Jeb, or Bill, or Bob. Someone who is actually important in the KSP universe. All jokes aside, great chapter with phenominal twists Agreed. Someone needs to send her to the hospital wing at KSC.

totm november 2020 Kerbal Clock Program

I will later, but I'm in school right now. -
I don't even think Stratenblitz and Matt Lowne go over 250 tonnes for their designs. Why do you need a craft of this size? Nine times of ten its easier albeit more costly to bring up huge parts of a space station to LKO or HKO. No difference in wing pieces. @bewing is correct, the BigS and FatS do carry fuel. I stay with Mk2 or Mk3 SSTO's for their flexibity and capability for various cargoes and missions. When I made Jumbo-5, my space station in HKO, I used a 50T craft that was unstable when returning but got the job done. I use a Mk2 for crew rotations and small satilites, as the cargobays are just big enough, and I can run my stations with a crew of 4. As much as I love SSTO's they aren't really worth-it until midgame. Because in late game you can just put a massive rocket underneath the payload and send it on its way. In early-game, you don't have fuselage parts. So, in short, SSTO's for me at least, are very niche, and most reasons to use them can be done better with a massive rocket. Yeah, I love Bradley with SSTOs and challenges. He makes it sound easy.

DCS has taken over combat air sims. Jane's combat sims are gone. If you want a basic storyline, then Ace Combat 7 Skies Unknown, it has real planes that aren't fully modeled (in depth cockpit, fully functional, like DCS), but an actual story. DCS is basically a more in depth game, focused on the real thing and real combat over a storyline. DCS extra aircraft, so anyting other than the TF-51 and SU-25 is $80. DCS is free itself, but the extras cost, but are worth it. AC7SU is a combat and storyling type game. The weapons are not realistic, at least the numbers of the missiles, and some of the weapons, like the railgun. CFS has been gone since before I was born.

One big thing is to use the MK1 PLANE FUSELAGE and not the standard fuel tanks. The standard ones have the same fuel, but also have oxidizer, which is not needed in an air-breathing aircraft. The Juno engines are underpowered so use at least 3 for small/moderate size craft. If you can, get the Whestley as quick as possible. Save mounting off-center engines for a while. Unless you want serious problems at first. The scramjets are useful, but inefficient because they are in the air scram mode all the time. Panther's gimbal is annoying, and imprecise. so disable them unless you need the roll control. Start off small and good, soo, two side mounted Whestley's, Mk1 inline. bunch of fuel, and the NCS Nose cone adapter with the small nose cone.
