  1. My guess is the really high end parts, and interstellar travel will require X amount of multiple resources; but resources won't be universal to all planets/asteroids. You want to see the next system, you need to harvest multiple planets in Kerbol for the right stuff. In this case, the complication won't be setting up factories, but managing the 'HUB'. All resources flow into the Starbase. It'd make for a good progression for the career mode. First step, get to these places, mid-game, build a Starbase/Shipyard; endgame, get to the next system; and start again. Isn't that what all the hard-scifi novels do with colonization stories?
  2. I'm excited for the Orbital VAB. All my larger ships have been assembled from orbital boosters with docking ports on the side. Building a ship in a complete piece is something I've been looking forward to since before I knew it was coming.
  3. I'd pay a few bucks for PAIGE's voice to be Cortana from Halo. Maybe Miss Minutes from Loki.
  4. That's kind of the million Delta-V question at this point. how long does each 'stage' last, how long between patches and updates... For that matter, what may have changed between the ESA showing and Release Day?
  5. The first thing that makes gameplay frustrating in KSP1 is the steep learning curve. The second thing is the times when I've had to make refuelling runs from Ike or Gilly to make my interplanetary ships fit for the return journey, or constant Kerbin to Minmus runs for science/tourist missions.. If PAIGE can help with both, she's my new hero.
  6. A trip planner? Huzzah. Already, I can tell my favorite part is going to be the VAB. Does anyone know if the EA has the 'Direct to Orbit' cheats? Once we unlock the Orbital VAB, they'll all have that option, but if we can build multiple craft in the one VAB session, that makes a difference.
  7. In fact, it's two weeks before release. Assuming the Devs got this before we did (obviously), I'm guessing they know where to start.
  8. I will admit that the list is clearly designed to invoke the KSP2 roadmap, but I wouldn't bet on it just yet. The only reason we're thinking it could be the new game is because the other channel said it was coming on the same day. If one of them is real, maybe both of them are. We won't know until we see at least one. KSP2 has had a bad press week with the shock specs announcements. If they decided to show us footage now, it's an effort to get the hype train back on track.
  9. The Hail Mary... Oh no, wait; that's taken.
  10. In short, this hurts; but it's not a deal breaker. I'm just barely tech savvy enough to assemble a PC, upgrading part by part... I've only ever bought a totally new PC once in my life, more than ten years ago. At the time, i spent more money than I was entirely comfortable with; because I wanted a bit of 'future proofing'. I've had the same box for more than ten years as a result. It might be time for another 'future proofing' investment. This is gonna hurt, no question; but it would open up my PC to many games I never even looked at, because the specs were so far out of reach.
  11. Maybe it's not removed, so much as 'optional'? If you have an unmanned craft, it's not a factor. If you have a ship without radioactive elements, it's not a factor... Maybe the indicator only appears when applicable.
  12. I doubt the CC will have even hinted they'd seen the game if they were forbidden from talking about it until Launch Day. One thing that occurs to me: Every game of the last ten years that's been a massive disappointment? They didn't let anyone see anything. If they're taking the KSP equivalent of 'influencers' and giving them time to explore, there must be some confidence behind that. If we do see sneak peeks from the Content Creators, then listen for the enthusiasm. If it's there, that'll be more encouraging than anything get get from a cinematic trailer.
  13. My first PC game (beyond the stock Microsoft stuff) was the original Myst. I was a kid, and had far less patience than I needed. Fortunately for my KSP career, I kinda overcame that.
  14. I think this time they're saving up for something big on Friday. (Saturday, my time).
  15. I know, I know. I'm a bad hype-junkie. Two weeks to Launch day seems like a good time though. Nice round number, gives people some opportunities for upgrades as needed...
  16. I'd settle for the system requirements.
  17. I keep hearing that the 'foundations' are built on most of it already. The 'fine tuning' stage where they decide how easy everything should be, how powerful or efficient the engines are, all the 'tweakables' are the stuff they're leaving up to us. If the bones of each segment are done, then it could be a few weeks between updates. Most likely a few months. The thing is, those judgements get made by gameplay. The more players, the more feedback, the wider the base of the beta testing, the faster they make those decisions. I hear people talking about how they won't play until 1.0, and they don't get that they're only holding the Full Release back. The success is decided by the people who show up.
  18. I replaced my main hard drive on my PC a month ago, and since then, KSP1 has been freezing thr machine now and then. I'm willing to upgrade the rest of my PC. Some of it is more than 12 years old. I just need to know what to aim for, and I can't do that without getting the specs for everything I'd want to play.
  19. Any ships I need to assemble in Orbit for a long term mission are broken up into 'Class'. Inner planet missions, where regular fuel and Solar Power will do the job, I call 'Bova Class' after Ben Bova. His 'Grand Tour' Mars books were the first 'Mars colonisation' books I ever read. Outer planets, which need RTG power to keep the charge up, I call 'Clarke' Class, in honor of the 2001 series, focused on Jupiter. Breaking up the 'Ship Class' makes it easier to build multiple ones, because the sections are named and numbered in my saved designs, according to what's needed. I fly them up like an assembly line. I use characters from favored novels for the ship names. My first flights to Duna were called the "SS Lewis", and the "SS Watney" for the characters in The Martian. Jool explorations were named the "SS Bowman", and the "SS Nagata" for the characters in A Space Odyssey, and The Expanse. Not sure which author I'll use for the Interstellar Class Craft in KSP2. I'm thinking maybe 'Niven', because I liked Ringworld.
  20. Are you sure it's manned? I admit, it looks like a capsule, but I don't see a hatch, and the solar panels might be blocking the exit. I heard a rumor that you have to deal with cabin fever and such in KSP2, so you have to time your long-length missions. Nothing to confirm that, and I admit I'd be grateful to send my zero stars on long one-way flights around the sun. (I think we all do that on KSP1) Honestly, I'm loving the look, and if this is as 'realistic' as it gets, I'd be a very happy space explorer. I mean, why do we need hyper-realistic planets and ships, when we're playing as little green plant-men?
  21. One thought: Rendezvous. When I did Jool missions, I sent a large digger with a lot of engines on it. When my actual crew got there, I had a return booster waiting, full of fuel gathered from Pol or Bop, to bring them home. The Parallel Mission would only be able to work if there was only one craft in orbit at a time. Send a second craft to the same moon/planet, and there can be no interaction. Try to dock two craft during a single mission, and what happens?
  22. If recording missions is a thing (And I've heard rumors to that effect), then it's probably easily doable. (And certainly a lot easier than juggling five or six missions with an Alarm Clock.) My thing is this: You get science points on a flight to Duna, then you can't use them to unlock anything for the length of the mission. Not an issue once you've unlocked everything, but who knows what else might be unlockable when you reach the Interstellar stage?
  23. Mine too! Less than a month to go. The last few days are the longest.
