An observation about the 1.12.x "sound bug"
miklkit replied to DeadJohn's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I used to have that bug but do not have it now. I totally replaced everything over time and I suspect it was the OS change that made the difference. Currently on a newer version of win10. -
Do you have a screenshot that makes you laugh every time?

Is there intelligent life out there? -
Eh? They are fun to land to me. Beats the heck out of just dropping a capsule into the atmosphere and hoping it lands ok. In vacuum they are just heavy rockets with weak engines.

I wish that spreadsheet was in the game.

KSP 1 & 2 Lore - Make Up Your Own!
miklkit replied to intelliCom's topic in Prelaunch KSP2 Discussion
Can't make any suggestions, but KSP feels too empty and needs more backstory. -
I built a rover and delivered it to Duna. It was only when I was well on my way to the North pole that I discovered that I had not assigned some action groups to it. Is there any way to correct this in the field?
-
Landed at Ike and got my closest landing ever. Now it's only a matter of time until I land on top of something.

There is no such thing as "absolutely safe" in KSP. This game is all about experimentation. You take the time to build lots of rockets, so take the time when building your rovers so they work well. As for that video, you took a rover that needed repairs and then added a lot of stuff to it. This made it have a high center of gravity so it flips easily. Then you tried to mess with the wheels without lifting them off the ground first. Much hilarity ensued. I use hinges to lift a rover that needs work off the ground to prevent flipping.
-
About rovers, play with friction control and traction control to get a reasonable balance that keeps it from sliding while stopped and still lets it do fun stuff without flipping. Sometimes it only takes a little bit of friction to let the rover work well.

Been away for a while. It turns out that it is indeed a setting in scatterer. Go into steam->steamapps->common->Kerbal Space Program->GameData->Scatterer->config->Planets->Kerbin. There you will find atmo.cfg. Open it and look for "adjustScaledTexture". Change it from "True" to "False" and save. This fixed it for me.

Hi! I've been away for a while and just got back. I have gone into steam->steamapps->common->Kerbal space Program->GameData->Scatterer->config->Planets->Kerbin and found the atmo.cfg and ocean.cfg. In atmo.cfg I found "adjustscaledTexture" and set it to "False". It is not in ocean.cfg. so after that one change I saved and started KSP and the problem is solved! As a humble end user I have never touched any of the settings before and am now wondering why it is set to "True" in the first place. This has been bothering me for well over a year now.

Graphic Problems
miklkit replied to HECHICEROSPACE's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
Black bars all over the ground? That is a known issue and there are fixes for it. Unmodded, there is someone on the Steam forum who knows how to fix it. Modded, install Scatterer and Waterfall. It looks better and the black bars are gone. -
I'm trying to track down the cause of a graphics anomaly and some think it might be Scatterer related. I have previously moved my save file and deleted then reinstalled KSP with no change. Just deleted and reinstalled Scatterer with no change. If not Scatterer, then what else could be doing this? Graphics mods are: Scatterer, Waterfall, and EVE.

In CKAN it's Kerbal Space Ponies.

Duna Base got a visitor. Just dropping off parts and crew swapping. Then taking off for the trip home. Note the mission time in the top left. Still managed to get back safely.

disappearing encounter nodes.
miklkit replied to miklkit's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I'm not having any luck with careful warping either. That 8 year flight was done by carefully going up and down warp speeds. This is just something I'm going to have to deal with then. Sigh. Taking 6000 m/s for a 2000 m/s flight is now SOP. -

miklkit replied to miklkit's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I have become far more careful than that and always sneak up on the encounter at normal speed. I get close to it by warping slowly (warp 4) then stopping and checking because the encounter disappears when warping. Sometimes. Sometime it doesn't. And sometimes it is just gone and I can't find one. It is different every trip and is taking all the fun out of it. I have heard some opinions that it is Steam that is messing up KSP. Dunno about that, but am thinking about creating a non Steam install and trying it out. -

I've gotten to the point where I plan on doing corrective burns, but this time there was just no way. I tried prograde, retrograde, radial in, and radial out. No way. It had way more fuel than needed normally, but this time it didn't have nearly enough. MJ is slightly better than the built in thingy and way better than me. It usually saves a lot of time to just let MJ do everything with just some fine tuning by me. All i get on my own are flickering and disappearing lines.
