  1. Part II, which explains what happens right after the player creates a new save: Or just a bit befor: Yeah, now after the player joins: After that, I think it's mostly headcanon and speculation (Read my username 4 example )
  2. My take on the lore (Part I): First, some of the scrapped storyline (which for me is pretty convincing) along with a bit of speculation Then, my lore as to why kerbals want to explore space so badly, and why kerbin is so barreen (and why they like snacks):
  3. Too non-ksp-ish; maybe instead a carreer playthrough kind of thing?
  4. btw @Alpaca Z, mind if I upload my submission in screenshots (and the .craft file, obviously)? My screen recorder has been glitching for a while and really kills my FPS
  5. It's sad there's only 1 Dres and Gilly entry... The poor boring rocks need low weight visitors, don't they? I may try Gilly, but not Dres. I haven't even sent a normal weight mission there, so Gilly is better (I haven't gone to Gilly yet either but atleast I am capable of doing Mun and back)
  6. Yet again, It's time for more updates. This time it's only a single mission, (and a tiny contract) but boy, it was MASSIVE. A few days after the failure of the Hauler II, (The rover mentioned in the previous report) I decided that I'd not let it happen again. So, I built a much cheaper version of it, but that thing could still get the job done... We first made sure that it worked, by klawing a mock-up of the target rover: The tests were a resounding success!! However, we still had to address last time's issue with the wheels... My theory is that the fairing's ejection force was to blame. But before testing that, I got a contract too good to decline... So, we got to work Oddly, the decoupler didn't fall even after decoupling with a strenght of 0 (for Jeb's safety). Huh Anyways, it was time for the big deal, the fairing testing. I also decided to assemble the whole skycrane, in case it was also be affected I first tested it with the default fairing values: The wheels broke! I then Tried clamshell deploy with ejection forces less than 30: This time, the wheels were intact, confirming my theory, so, I decided to launch: As the fairing deployed, the panels crashed into the rocket, obliterating it: The rover somehow survived, so I decided to try and lithobrake it instead of reverting the flight, cuz what's the fun in that? But hey, at least a reaction wheel and antenna survived the accident! Gimme those funds back We only got 1.7k funds out of the 16k rocket (including the 7.5% discount strategy I've got)... 10% Let's try again! This time, instead of a fairing, I used another thing... See if you can spot it before I reveal it, in this nice ground shot: Once our orbit was aligned with the target, It was time to land... TOUCHDOWN! After that, the skycrane was separated, and landed nearby to relay signal from the rover (which was actually unecesary thanks to a level 3 tracking station, but very necesary later on...) With the skycrane (from now on referred to as the lander) already landed, it was time to drive off to the target, which was sadly much further than expected... Time to drive After a painful 20 mins of driving at 9 m/s, we finally got to the target rover. Time to haul it! (Violent braking moment) That was a big mistake, because when I tried to grab the rover back... I got stuck I tried using the antennae to get back up, but they simply dug through the soft snow... Normally, this would be game over, but I still had the lander with 800ish m/s of dV so... Eventually, we did it! Then, I tried to re-dock with the lander, but somehow messed it up R.I.P
  7. btw, here's the file for the tourist craft: KerbalX - Capsule 2.0
  8. Moar updates After the telescope, I picked up a remerkably EZ contract to take 2 tourists to orbit and back. I launched them along with Bob inside a fairing very cozy pure stock 3-seater capsule; but this was no ordinary orbital mission; no, Bob's gonna take some sweet science from the northern ice shelf. Here are some images of the flight: I also sent this goofy probe to orbit 4 a contract, but don't have much footage of it And I (tried) to send this rover to another rover on minmus to grab and drag it to its target location, again, there's not much footage, this time cuz the mission was... aborted Welp, that's it. If anyone knows that went wrong, please help.
  9. Big w, however, as a non-DLC user, I always suffer kraken attacks if I just place undersized engines and use fairings to cover stuff up. Wish stock KSP1 had engine plates
  10. Hello dear kerbonats; it's been quite a while since I post an update on my career mode, First of all, we went to Minmus to repair a rover After a bit of no-screenshot taking, I launched a space telescope for a contract After that, Jeb went to plant a flag on Minmus (which I forgot to screenshot)
  11. hmm, ok It's a lot easier with RCS, at least personally, ESPECIALLY with asteroids, as you have to approach them at a very low speed, and turning the ship around last second to fire the engine can cause disaster (which is exactly what happened to me), plus my PC can handle a good 150 parts, and my VAB 250, tho I normally only use 50 or less
  12. Well, you can just do what I'm doing rn in my career, accepting EZ contracts, like probe building, part testing, etc while waiting for the transfer window Also, you could research the klaws to try and catch an asteroid or debris for their respective contracts, which shouldn't be a problem if you happen to be experienced with rendezvousing.
  13. After stranding bill at the mun due to accepting a rover repair contract I couldv'e used a probe for, this is pretty reasonable
  14. Hmm... Interesting. The good thing is that the bugs don't really affect anything important
  15. Hello dear kerbonauts. Today, in my career KSP save, I was experimenting with a rescue ship with a klaw, probe core and empty pod, due to my awful skill with jetpacks and struggles during reentry of an Mk1 crew cabin and a pod. Everything was running smoothly, until I grabbed the target. There were no IVA portraits. I then desperately right clicked the Mk1 crew cabin (In which the kerbonaut was supposed to be) and surprise, she was alive. Transferring her solved the bug.
  16. Hello, dear kerbonauts: Last week I built a lil' boat, (no, it's not on KerbalX yet) and then launched it cuz I wanted to test the cove launch site. Eventually I got bored of driving it and built a spaceplane without saving the boat. Is there any way to get the boat's .craft file without rebuilding it?
  17. Hello kerbonauts! Recently, I've been planning to make KSP blender animations, but I need to recreate the celestials... accurately. Does anyone have normal maps of them? if so, please tell me. Thanks!
  18. Yes you did it correctly. But it wasn't my intent to do the atmosphere thing Should pro'ly remove it befor someone exploits it
