Whaaaa? If I posted a picture of my face right now I'd have to put--I dunno, blobs or big red pi-symbols or something over my eyes to properly express the confusomancy that has taken charge of my person. I knew i shouldn't have started doing my taxes right before reading this... ETA: *clink* and a re-read. Orbles! Yay Orbles! But oh, the cost... have been reading a new Doctor Strange comic recently, which really plays with the concept of magic having a cost someone must pay--and Very Bad Things happen when this is not done, and a big bill comes due. Will the kraken come calling? I'd leave the ladders extended just in case.

And moving on... now I know why I waited until the last possible moment to make a ?!!*&@ chessboard in powerpoint. ...and let's not think too hard about what the pieces should look like, OK? Busy weekend, and I still have to be the Bunny later.

Yeah, that's kind of the way most of us prefer to get errata (I've been writing in English for over 40 years now and I still make mistakes) PMs are generally preferred because (1) however respectfully you put it, you are telling EVERYONE the author got it wrong, and forcing him to respond publicly, (2) the back and forth discussion takes the thread off topic, and (3) about half the errata people send me are actually not mistakes at all, so aren't PMs just better for all concerned?

The Saga of Emiko Station - Complete
Mister Dilsby replied to Just Jim's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
It's funny, all those years I heard my dad mentioning those I thought it was a "hooligan" tool. Makes perfect sense if you think about it. -
Don't forget, the Kerbulans are also the Mirror Universe Teelfbrek. And possibly Klingons. Also, King Hippo from PunchOut!. no not that last one but ooh maybe

Well, I dunno. All that might happen in one thread. Maybe 'Kerbfleet: Marathon or :B-Team or something like that. But it won't happen until after 1.1 so I have time to think about it a bit.

We knew this would happen eventually. Well, your sig says you've gotten purple rocks from there before--now it's time to go get Milry!

Dire news indeed! Thanks Parkaboy for the recap of Fabien's story, and also for the convenient guide to "who's where". Val's speech is inspiring, but she may have made a mistake in not explicitly saying who's in charge at each location. If kerbs disagree, she won't even necessarily be awake to sort it out--and like she said, they have to stick together!

Ding ding! Yes, "Marathon" is the working name for that "new class of high-endurance mining cruiser" I've been talking about. Had not thought to install Outer Planets yet, but I could. I suppose I should kerbalize the name somehow, maybe call it the Dunathon, and make canon that 42.195 km is the exact distance the legendary Phidippides Kerman had to travel by jetpack from near the highest point on Duna to escape the atmosphere and bring science to his captin--dying in the process, of course, when he failed to achieve orbital velocity. But 'KSS Marathon' sounds cooler to me. 'Dunathon' sounds like Mort is doing song-and-dance numbers on TV to raise enough funds for a mission. Anyways... yeah that's what I'm working on. I don't want to commit the launch until 1.1 is out and mods are stable, because I do need all the life support stuff to work as well as the reactor to power it. I also want to be careful about overlapping the books; I think it worked OK without continuity issues when the end of the Duna book overlapped the beginning of the Eve book, but it could get easy for people to get confused... especially when the mulch impinges the intakes as the Kerbals and Kerbulans inevitably collide. But there's still a few planets left to explore even without adding Sarnus to the mix, and we will explore them!

A 10 Thunderbolt II
Mister Dilsby replied to TedwinKnockman66's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Very nice! You might just consider tweaking your two vertical stabilizers down a hair and increasing the camber of your outer wings a bit to match the original even closer. I really like how you did the cockpit! -
Oh my, don't get my hopes up...Intrepid is only about 800, and might get near six once she fires all of her nuclear weapons at Kerbulus puts the scansats in orbit around the Joolian moons and sends in the atmospheric probes.

[Broken 1.1] [Stock] [Another Helicopter] Minicopter
Mister Dilsby replied to Jon144's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Best, or at least truest instruction ever in Spacecraft Exchange. -
And let's let that explanation stand for all the stuff in the Planetary Base Systems IVA, which appear to have been rendered for use on the surface, so there are cables on the floor, books on the tables, etc. So like I said we can expect a gap of a few days before the next pages. But I can always tease Here's Intrepid just after Kerbin SOI escape: So it turns out that we are able to store data in the lab, it's just that every time we do so the dialogue says there wasn't enough space. Looks like a bug, but a benign one. I'm keeping the lab loaded up with data, of course, and transmitting every 20 days or so--you can see that with Bob and Lisa in there, it makes science at quite a prodigious rate. That'll make Mort happy, since we're licensing 100% of it now, to the tune of 2594.58 kerbucks per science point, or about 28,500 per day for as long as I can keep the data buffers filled. So I have some external shots now, will get the rest plus the "sound stage" IVAs, and the new pages will appear when they appear. In the meantime, a riddle: what masses about 200 tons, is 42,195 meters long, takes a middle-aged guy in good shape about 3 1/2 hours to finish, and will start appearing in its own thread some time after 1.1 is released and certain critical mods are updated?

Developing Duna (pic heavy) - ^_^ with Part 11 ^_^
Mister Dilsby replied to Brotoro's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
Topic of the thread is @Brotoro's mission, folks. Usual culture I've observed in Mission Reports is that a thread about the OP's mission to X is for the OP's mission only, and not a catch-all for discussion of all missions to X. General "Mission to X" threads appear elsewhere in the Forum, for example in the Challenges section. Around here, you might suggest ways the OP could solve problems they're facing in the mission, but if you think you did it better, you make your own thread--and expect the same kind of courtesy from your fellow forum-goers.- 305 replies

No worries... I guess i have the same problem You're right though it is asymmetric... maybe that just makes it a more terrifying weapon. Hm... perhaps the Empire should also use bad kerning on the flag, that'd really mess with their enemies.

The Saga of Emiko Station - Complete
Mister Dilsby replied to Just Jim's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
Well, Thomp did identify himself as their step-dad. Parental figures are always particularly vulnerable to their childrens' shenanigans, and he may be doubly vulnerable due to being a cyborg. My kerbucks are on the twins -
Sorry, I did not. I looked it up later though and it makes sense. I guess i just haven't played that genre of games. And not just the females--Kirk too! Believe me if I could have made Val's uniform sleeveless I would have. Also, of course it's just Spock who had the beard, not every male Imperial. But, you know, South Park. Henceforth complaints about the artwork, demands for new missions, exhortations to post faster, and any and all statements beginning with the words "you should..." will be answered by our customer satisfaction officer, Valentina Kermulan.

Thank you! But with great power.... ...must come great hand-waving. Ha! That's the real reason, isn't it? (though actually I do, or I will very soon. All of this happened on "sound stages" but the time will soon be right for... oh, I've said too much.) Well, I can't let you pin me down on exactly what either Bill can or can't do. But let's just assume that they're somehow limited to what you see in the comic. Bill Kerman only goes in the file to fix something that's wrong--he's kind of like The Doctor in that respect. Really, he (or Clauselle) is my in-story explanation for whenever I have to do something to the file to fix a game problem. Bill Kermulan on the other hand... well, since I haven't actually played the Kerbulan space program "fixes" like that haven't come up. So let's just say for now that what Evil Bill can see and affect is just the roster of Imperial personnel. You'll notice that the file says KERBULANS not KERBALS, and there are some other subtle changes that would make those lines not actually work in a persistence file (and the part you can't read says "Traitor = FALSE") Yes... Bob's got the blue uniform, so will he be a "kerb of honor in any universe"? We'll see. Speaking of similar character roles, Val Kermulan really surprised me, in a good way. The only thing I really had planned was for her to level Jeb with a right cross. Then she "told" me Bob needed a whack too, just in fairness. And then... everyone settles down, and Team Evil stands together to plan their next move. I swear I didn't write that--it was all her idea. Well for one thing, Leader Gene isn't in the file, he's hard-coded. And Val a Commander and not him? There's actually a very good reason for that--but you're going to have to wait

The Saga of Emiko Station - Complete
Mister Dilsby replied to Just Jim's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
I'm not surprised Remember when Evil Kenlie used the Kerbfleet flag on the side of Evestation for target practice? There were a couple of pages of polite argument on exactly how far he should have recoiled, should he have spun around, whether to figure it out by conservation of momentum or energy, etc, etc, etc... Not one person questioned the BLAM! BLAM BLAM! BLAM! sound effect. Why? Not because anyone would think you could hear gunshots in vacuum--but because I think they all knew that if I'd had a bunch of holes just silently appear it wouldn't have made any sense. It was necessary for the story, as was your emitter -
Was on a roll so I kept going. I think this ends the Evil Interlude. Might be a gap of a few days before I figure out the next bit. but I think we'll have plenty to talk about until then What, did you think Evil Bill wouldn't have a Tantalus field? Also, that panel of Bob Kermulan getting backhanded by Val is now officially my favorite ever.

I think the answer to your first question could be Lt. Bailey. The answer to your second could be Uhura... or Mirror Brad, if he's the jealous type.

Now that is a high compliment, thank you. And if @Parkaboy hadn't raised the bar so high, I wouldn't be trying so hard to reach it. Zany, isn't it? So of course the way this all ends is that they all meet, the Kerbfleet guys explain what all that stuff on Intrepid is really for, they make friends, and everyone goes on their way in peace! Yaaaay! I'm afraid @Deddly has it a bit wrong. It's not that the Kerbulans are fearless--it's that whatever danger they're facing, they're motivated by something they're even more afraid of. The lower orders fear their superiors' rage, and the agonizer. Those superiors are in constant fear of assassination. And that, of course, is how Leader Gene holds it all together: not just with everyone's fear of him, but by cultivating and using their fear of each other to keep control. And what's Leader Gene afraid of? Losing that control might well top the list. Well, she's just a Legate now so maybe it hasn't come up yet. On this note, I found myself wondering how the whole bridge crew of the I.S.S. Enterprise managed to survive intact up to the point of the "Mirror Mirror" episode. You'd think someone would have at least whacked Mirror Chekov already... well, I'll just say that not every one of Our Heroes has a living Kerbulan counterpart: some of them are already dead.
