Really, really great! Not been so sad to be out of replikes for a long time. Many thanks to you and Jebediah for exploring the Kerbal universe to its limits and beyond. Too bad you couldn't get that EVA report from infinity. I'm sure it was worth 1/0 science points, funds and reputation!

What do you think the Kerbin universe is like?
Mister Dilsby replied to GarrisonChisholm's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I'll make the following argument for commonality: since the Kerbin system clearly displays different physical parameters from our universe, and since physical laws tend to cover entire universes rather than an individual solar sphere of influence, other stars and star systems should logically behave in the same way as the Kerbol system. Stars which are hot and massive, but exhibit no relativistic effects such as gravitation lensing. Planets 1/10 the size of Earth, but with the same surface gravity. Moons that cross close enough to each others' orbits to be flung into oblivion, but aren't because gravity effects are subject to exactly one sphere of influence at a time. And drifting through it all, a terrifying SPACE KRAKEN that imbues phantom forces into anything with a lot of parts, or at its nefarious whim disassociates the universe altogether. -
Well sure, but asking an artist "hey, did you take that from my comic?" is right up there with asking a woman "hey, are you pregnant?" It's a lead-in to a very happy conversation if you're right, but potential trouble if you're not. Now if he'd just drawn that one wing section leaning up against the side of the fuselage, that would have removed all doubt BUT! What we need to be discussing is what the heck happened when Fabien, his suit, and Eve Survivor encountered Matrix Jeb at the southernmost probe site. Who is driving the rover? Who (if anyone) is in the suit? It occurs to me that the EVA suits are unisex...

Well...I wasn't sure enough that that was the intent, after all badS pilots walking away from a crashed craft is a reasonably common meme... but if was, I'm honored

LOVE the crayons--wondering if you read Order of the Stick? Burlew did a fantastic crayon explanation of mythological backstory once. So--what do we know? Other than the fact there are no flowers on Eve, probably not ray guns, and maybe not even basalt, a suit transponder left behind does not necessarily mean a kerbal has been stranded inside it... However, aliens.

Eh. Yeah, that's a bit better. Keep workshopping it. I suppose if you want to make something a thing, you really have to... No. I'm not saying it.

Hm. I've noticed that the users most known for their taglines are really more known for what they write above the tagline: Exhibit A: Exhibit B: Exhibit C: ...at least, I tend to notice these kinds of things

Ha! Wouldn't that be a letdown? Well, it's still an open question what he'll see, will he tell anyone, and what anyone makes of that information. I haven't decided all of it myself--stay tuned! Not so much; really, I was going for the quickest path to Jool. No matter which trajectory we took, of course Kerbulus should be visible at some point for a kerb looking in the right direction. This is, I think, the first moment that might be possible--though I do have to do a little study on just how easy it is or it isn't to see a planet like Venus in opposition. That is, how many apparent degrees does it have to be away from the solar disk to be visible at all, and how does the instrument you use affect your ability to see it? That officer appears to be a Junior Looty Lieutenant, J.G. As @Geschosskopf has pointed out, though, she would still properly be called 'captain' if in command of a vessel. Right and right. We'll certainly see more of the two Kenlies as things progress. I'd imagine each of them, though very similar in what/how they are able to see the other side, will react to that information differently. We've already seen that their superiors deal with it in different ways. Sounds like a good thing to do on April 1st next year. "Well, I'm sure glad that's over! Let's get all our science, refuel, and go home! Yay!" But I don't think there's much chance of that. Kerbulans have had no trouble in the past blowing up completely defenseless stranded capsules, or even lovable francophone satellites. And remember, the Kerbals have something the Kerbulans really, really want: the technical know-how to construct nuclear weapons. Now that's more like it. To quote Master Yoda, "You should be."

Well, stranger things have happened. The most plausible answer may be that you weren't looking at the portrait you thought you were looking at, but that's certainly not the most interesting answer. Love the reference to Kerbal science not really understanding gender... or 'invisible birds' ("We can hear them... where the heck are they?") I wonder if the birds nest in the Gus's magical and invisible recovery vehicles that can instantaneously transport anything back to the KSC from anywhere on Kerbin?

Well, I wonder if this might be the time to disclose that the author, though presently an amateur boxer, holds a black belt in aikido--an art dedicated to escaping injury, and sometimes messing people up, without 'fighting back'. And 'underinformed' does not necessarily mean "unprepared', as we'll see in today's update!

Congratulations! I look forward to visiting your mission report thread. Really what I need to do it take the index of a Julia Child book and just write NOM somewhere over every entry. Fortunately French has a lot of "non" sounds in it so there are plenty of opportunities. Right, that's the stuff KSMC drivers pack when they're surfaceside for a long haul. Some of the NREs come in 'boil-in bags' that you can just drop into the nearest purple puddle on Eve. With a surface pressure of 5 ATM it's a perfect unholy union of pressure cooking and sous-vide! So, I haven't been completely idle on KSP since April Fools. I did take Intrepid 40 days ahead in her journey, which would have gone much quicker if (1) I didn't insist on stopping every 20 days to send the science data home, and (2) if time warp actually made the transmission happen any faster. I'll admit I would be a bit more inclined to tough it out at extreme low fps if I didn't see 1.1 coming right around the corner. Meantime, I'm working on stuff I know I'll need for the next chapters of the story. I guess it's not too much of a spoiler to tell you I'm building some new Kerbulan warships and fighters. Very happy terrified with how those are coming out. I'll just say this about the Mk2 Kerbulan anti-ship homing missile: remember all those shots of Kenlie Kermulan blowing up hapless capsules and targets around Eve? I used TAC Self-Destruct or other "special effects" to make that work. I don't need TAC Self-Destruct any more.

Say Hello to The Rep Grand Group! [07/19/16 UPDATE!]
Mister Dilsby replied to Endersmens's topic in Kerbal Network
The list could also be considered a public service for anyone who might look at a fellow forum-goer and ask, "why does this clown have more rep than me?" Often the answer can be found in @Endersmens description.- 929 replies

Well, you can fool some of the readers all of the time, and all of the readers some of the time--but yup, April fools, and I'll have the real pages up as soon as I can make them Yeah, not that I'm going to ever have kerbal relationships for real, but as I've written them Bill and Val makes more sense to me.What Val really needs in a friend is someone she can deal with as an equal and who will not annoy the mulch out of her. Her approach to flying and command is different enough from Jeb's that the two of them together don't satisfy either qualification. Bob--well, he's Bob. Can you imagine living with that guy and his 'concerns'? And outside of the Original Four, only Dilsby comes close to her level of expertise, but the dynamic between the two of them is more teacher and student. So yeah, if I was going to go that way for real, it'd be Bill and Val. Oh, just for that I'll make it canon. And I'll name him Wesley Kerman. And I'll put him in a goofball 1990's rainbow stripe flightsuit and have him solve every problem the grownups can't with a skillset that rivals Martystu's. Nope, just me. I've been planning this for a while, and obviously could have put in the joke practically anywhere on the trip. I didn't get nearly as much done in the game or the comic this week as i planned, though...something happened right after Easter that required my attention for several days. Things are just now getting back to normal. Who knows how they really do it? It looked funny and it reminded me of Mork and Mindy's kid. Thanks! I was a little surprised to not see a more 'official' joke on the forums. Maybe it's because of the mayhem that happened last year, or perhaps everyone's busy with 1.1. Well, glad I could keep the tradition going in some small way. Two out of three of those guesses are correct.

Sure, I suppose it's the least I can do. Just try not to use the ceremony as some kind of cover to assassinate all your enemies, OK? Yeah, I'll have to get around to that eventually, especially as more details get revealed. I'll have to do the General Order list over, if nothing else. As far as seats, quite a lot--there's room for 12 in the habs, two in the science labs, four in cupolas, seven bridge seats, two down in Engineering, two more if you count the Mk1 capsules I'm using as 'turbolifts', and then the various cockpits and cabins on the attached landing craft (totaling 11, last i counted) So that's room for 40 kerbals total. The trouble might be the life support system; we can only recycle mulch at max efficiency for 12 kerbals, so the 13th will consume NOMS at a higher rate. Should be enough margin to handle the extra load--but anyway, nothing to worry about until it actually hatches.

Yeah, i thought it was time. Appreciate the comment, but could you please edit to remove the images from your quote? You can see how it would clutter up the thread with many duplicate comic panels. And we have enough 'reproduction' problems as it is

Hey, I really appreciate you guys being patient about the lack of updates over the last few days. I needed some time to reformat the story and ships a little bit. I've been reading the great stuff @Just Jim and @Parkaboy are doing and realizing that there's a dimension missing from my work. Hope you like it! Yup. General Order 34 is still secret, but it must be something about not taking your boots off if you're in a crew cabin overnight with an officer of the opposite sex. Oh, myyy! This will certainly complicate things when the Kerbulans show up!

Woo hoo! That's great news, I can't wait! -
Clearly she's keeping up everyone's spirits, right? What a great leader! But yeah, she's tough to work with sometimes because her badSery gives her only about two expressions: (1) content to be sitting on the ground (2) absolutely thrilled to be anywhere else. I sometimes use a not-stupid, not-brave, not-badS stunt double when I need her to look 'concerned'.

Correct. It's really not so 'baffling' when you think about it. Love it! Bill will be very happy. Just be sure you opt in so you can get early-access updates to BSP

Well, there's an average of 1.0 twins alive. I wonder which? -
Well, now that @Endersmens has updated the rep ranking list, I suppose I had to make some kind of comment. But seriously, I'll always feel like this is a crown I've usurped. I think it's obvious that the new replike system favors content like mine over more useful stuff like moderation work. So, :hail: to the true king @Red Iron Crown--may he only have cause to visit this thread for his own entertainment And other stuff--what did Lisa not see? What's missing from that cruiser? And was that really not not-Kurt speaking in the last panel? Don't ask me, I don't know either! ETA: And whoops, before you all do the math, I calculated the 'signal delay' in Lisa's transmission by dividing Intrepid's solar altitude (rather than distance from Kerbin) by the speed of light--and misplacing a decimal point--so that number is wrong for at least two reasons. It might actually be so wrong it's close to being correct, so I'll leave it in

Yup. Just like the fools who lock B.A. and his friends in a metal shop about 32 minutes into every single episode of the A-Team. I pity those fools, truly I do. -
I'll not confirm or deny that But before you think Kuzz Jr. murdered me with a sharpened piece of dark chocolate for making him transliterate Greek, here' an update of what I've been working on. Not much with Intrepid or the comic, just some routine Gliido missions to return crews from Dwagonfly, Kranefly and the decommissioned Munstation. I left Kranefly 'mothballed' in orbit, it might be useful for shunting things around at some point. The other two craft I de-orbited. Also did a quick contract, completing the "Kerbin 3 Challenge" that Qwammer failed at by landing on water instead of land. True to Gene's word we sent a "nice, cheap probe", and here are the mission pics:

So did the kids. Clauselle pretty much always looks terrified unless the ship isn't moving, so I have to go with what she gives me. The pot is, of course, a Le Kreuset. Hm. HMMM! DAAA NAAAAAAAAA! Thank you! I really wanted one of them to play trombone as I do, but the hands just don't line up. Oh well. That could be fun--but really in my head, they're just like ours only smaller. Perhaps Tedus is playing the kornet, and not a trumpet, I dunno. Since we got sick of watching the kids tear the house apart and hope to heck they find everything before it's time for church, I started doing a sequential clue hunt some years ago. They each wake up to find a plastic egg with a note in it that leads it to the next one, etc, and finally to the basket of goodies. My daughter has some riddles and a cipher to solve and a bit of French to read. Kuzz Jr. will have an easier time, but he's going to pay for his Percy Jackson-induced dabbling in Greek with one clue requiring a fair amount of transliteration. At least there's no logarithms this year.
