I think I'm going to choose to take it as the poster's fervent hope that, as my personal schedule and other factors allow, new pages appear soon. I will not choose to take it as a request to stop whatever else I'm doing and make pages, or make them faster, because that would really burn me up. I'm sure it was the former that was meant and not the latter, n'est-ce pas? As it turns out, I think I've got something. One does not simply 'kick in the door' to go to Jool, but I think Bill's Transfer Window Planner (fast forward a copy of the savegame and try out different stuff at different times in a simulated future) works OK. New pages will come... when new pages come.

A Thread for Writers to talk about Writing
Mister Dilsby replied to Mister Dilsby's topic in KSP Fan Works
This is really only the setup. The interesting part of a story like this is what happens after the apocalypse. So, what happens? -
A BadS Asteroid Hauler: the Kranefly Mk.E
Mister Dilsby replied to Mister Dilsby's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Well thanks, but this was actually the v0.90 version of the Kranefly--the thread is after all about a year old I never did get around to posting the v1.0 version which is just now being retired from Kerbfleet service. I suppose this one is still of historical interest, never confirmed whether it still works OK in the present version. In any case it definitely lacks at least one feature of every sensible V1+ hauler: a drill! -
Well you've got a great point. [checks 25th Amendment] Yup, it's right there in ink and parchment. So, a hypothetical zombie/vampire/lich sorcerer President could be perfectly capable of executing the office--perhaps quite well depending on the extent of his supernatural powers--but the Vice President becomes President just because the President happens to be "dead". Is that justice, I ask you? Is that fair? And I suppose the answer to both questions is, "Yes", and "Get me a chainsaw and enough petroleum products to keep it running."

I do love a document that thinks of everything in advance, especially the heretofore unobserved. For example the little-known "Section Z" of Article XVII of the United Nations Charter, specifying that in the event of a zombie apocalypse all the world's industries shall be converted to produce nothing but chainsaws and canned beans.

Hey, glad you've been able to catch up! Yeah, the thread kind of has a life all it's own, which is great if you're here all the time but tough if not. Of course the completed chapters are linked in the OP, but that doesn't help with the one in progress As to the Intrepid, yes I intend to share her at some point after the story's over, like I did with Hummlebee. The docked craft would all be separate of course, as I launched them. Might be a really long wait though-- 230+ comics pages, closing in on 2000 thread replies, and we still haven't burned for Jool!

Talk about reputation preceding a man! Hey, give him a break--he'll be along, with a comment that's not just timely but highly insightful! No pressure Thanks so much! Would you mind making that permission retroactive to 21 May 2015, so I can go back in time and use it then, too?

Yeah, wow, that'd hurt Fortunately I don't think there's much left to stage--I guess the Jooldivers would eject their fairings and maybe decouple something. Could get very exciting for Sarge! And three pages: That went well! Theoretically the transfer window for Jool is 300 days away. But I don't want to wait that long, and neither does Captin Valentina. So I'll be looking at the map, dragging some maneuver nodes, and hopefully next time we'll have a good "strutty-eyed" solution for you.

The Saga of Emiko Station - Complete
Mister Dilsby replied to Just Jim's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
Apparently not. Also, I don't know about Jim but I generally prefer to get errata by PM rather than on the thread. -
Yes definitely There's a map somewhere in Bill's Engineering Updates for those who don't know. Was an interesting exercise to avoid interferences among docked craft, as well as keep some things common (drills=5 and aerospikes=4 everywhere, for example) But some things still don't work right. Group zero was supposed to toggle all craft RCS motors but it does not. I might at some point do a little save file editing to fix it-- I could write a macro that finds every 4-way and place anywhere and adds AG0 to toggle them, for example.

I was wondering who'd notice that KER is only showing half the available ventral engines for some reason--probably because the last time they were fired, four had run out of fuel. But in fact we have eight available, so TWR will be twice that

Teaser: All filled up in less than 24 hours on the surface. Go, Bill! I've decided the Big Musical Number isn't working out the way I wanted, so I'm doing the next bit a different way. That means that the next update may or may not be the end of chapter, and that it will come relatively SoonTM.

Gentlekerbs, I've been leaving this thread open in case any new readers want to make comments on the Kerbfleet Eve mission and comic. I would like to leave it open, if you catch my meaning

I guess I never thought of it that way. I'll likely go to Eve again in 1.1 and beyond, too--why not? Good luck getting your very own purple rocks! You should report on your successions and explosions in your own Mission Reports thread though. I look forward to reading it.

No new pages today but things are going well! First, a fueling update. When the drills hit the ground at T +13D 05:12:39 the Intrepid massed 643 tons, and needed 137,000 units of LF, 5300 units OX and 2500 of mono. Now at T +14D 04:41:00 the OX and mono are full, as are the ore tanks with 30 tons total. There's about 110,000 units of LF left to go, or 550 tons. The ship masses about 850 now-- so yes, we're going to lift off massing about 1400t. I've shut down two of the ten drills, as with the ISRUs making only LF and the ore tanks filled I don't need their output. Algae tanks are also on line to convert mulch back to fertilizer: that's actually going extremely slowly. It occurs to me I might never have tweaked their output to be consistent with the latest consumption rates of USI-LS as I said I was going to. At this rate (>200 tons a day before shutting down the two drills, probably 80% of that now) I guess we'll be filled up a little ahead of schedule--24 hours or so. Now that I've gotten the Minmus Four down on the ground and into a padded Hitchhiker container, and also finished the resupply mission to Micarooni, next time I play I'll fast forward to the end of fueling and attempt the liftoff. So, here's the mission to Micarooni as an album. Pretty routine except it started to vibrate, including large pieces of the station clipping through the asteroid, when I made the mistake of time warping near it. I couldn't switch away from the station since it was 'under acceleration'. Solved the problem by letting Gregmore's craft get out of physics range, then having the two crew slated to go back to the surface with him EVA over. Once my active craft (the EVA kerbal) escaped the wonky physics bubble around Micarooni, the game stopped running physics on it and it returned to rails. Always a great day when you outsmart the Kraken! So finally here's Gregmore's mission, with some glamour shots of Micarooni Station. Readers of Eve: Order Zero will recognize the craft still docked on the right-hand platform ... and for those interested in the history of the station, here are the albums covering the installation of the Micarooni control tower, as well as the platforms and "dark side" panels.

Oh, I love that one--thanks for reminding me of it! I'll put up another from the Eve, Order Zero traveling music archive. I know I said I was going to leave the comics in the comics, but I was so proud of the kerbalized picture of the artist (sometimes known as, "The Artist"), I'm going to post it here. From Purple Rain, Prince. Purple Terrain I never meant to leave you stranded I never meant to cause you any pain I only wanted one time to see you driving-- I only want to see you driving On purple terrain Purple t’rain, purple terrain Purple t’rain, purple terrain Purple t’rain, purple terrain I only want to be here driving On purple terrain I never meant to steal so many spaceships I only did it for a friend I promise, I won’t ever steal another It’s such a shame this mission has to end Purple t’rain, purple terrain Purple t’rain, purple terrain Purple t’rain, purple terrain I only want to be here driving On purple terrain

The Saga of Emiko Station - Complete
Mister Dilsby replied to Just Jim's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
His name wasn't Kong, was it? Love that image of "Battle of Laythe Gulf"-- imagining a Doodlebug "crossing the T" of Thompberry's invasion force of cruisers and battleships -
Well sure, there's crazy and then there's Kerbal crazy. Clearly Dongun is still a skilled pilot; he did manage to pick the lab up using the Hauler's claw, and he got to LKO all right. Right, there's a surprising clarity in madness, isn't there? Well, it occurs to me that if @Geschosskopf's gang of freeze-addled conscripts can explore the Sarnus system with such success, maybe this group will be OK going to some closer planets. I played with Intrepid a little last night, got Sarge and Melbe back to the ship and docked the rover. After about 3 hours on the ground, the oxidant is full and we have 120,000 units (600 tons) of LF left to go. I think it'll take 30-36 more hours to do it, then I have to write and shoot the big musical number for when they lift off and burn for Jool (Think I'm kidding? Well I have to have something new to give @Crystal_Mace for her songs thread!) For now, I'll give you a briefly annotated album of Samantha landing that Gliido with the Four aboard.

I hereby grant Mr. Starhawk license to use anything he likes from my stories. Also I'm betting he knows that fenêtre is French for 'window', from the Latin fenestra.

Out of replikes, but we never run out of comments! Very well done on what I would call a 160 degree inclined orbit. Good thing it was Vall and not Tylo So are you finding that the photovoltaics are working OK out there at Jool? Not that those crafts are needing a lot of power, of course--you're not running life support at 0.5 EC/sec per kerbal or doing heavy mining--but I am basically not bringing anything but nuclear power out there and so am wondering how you're faring
-
Almost perfect-- a solid 5/7! I did mean for the last "...or could I" to be spoken by Melgee though, not Kurt. But it doesn't really matter, does it?
