I feel really silly asking this--somehow my ships no longer seem to heat up when going at high speed in atmosphere, either when re-entering or in the case of a spaceplane going to orbit. I also get no 'Mach effects'. I opened ALT-F12 and nothing seemed to be turned off. Is there another key that toggles the effects that I might have pressed accidentally? Would like to have the proper 1.0.4 deadly atmosphere back before my ships reach Eve, because where would the fun be otherwise?

0/10 Never heard of you! (But not surprising given this is your 73rd post ) Glad to know you Cliftonm!
-
Yes, that's much better! Obrigado! Yeah, that's pretty much Kerbfleet for you... I can recall three spaceplane landings so far, and somebody was yelling in every one of them! ETA: A fourth landing, and the exception--Tedus's solo crash of the Dipperkraft. Heh, I know you could! But in fact my Kerbalverse is nonviolent so I wouldn't be able to use it However, I may beg of you a favor depending on what sorts of cockpits are available in 1.1! - - - Updated - - - Thanks! Have been wanting to work that one in for a long time. Glad I could do it without someone actually dying.

The "You know you're playing a lot of KSP when..." thread
Mister Dilsby replied to Phenom Anon X's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I wanted to name our new gerbil Jeb, but the kids decided he wasn't enough of a badS to deserve it. -
Well, this is the interlude that became a chapter I guess-but it's finally finished! Those of you who liked it, thank you! Those of you who didn't, well at least it's over. And I had fun doing it so bleah Yeah, I was not going to promote Kenlie because I like the Kenzin Enlie pun so much, but after carrying this interlude for 16 pages and managing to bring the Gliido down in one piece I can't exactly deny he deserves it. Kenty Loonie, maybe? This weekend in gameplay I'll be finalizing the Kranefly/M7 and Mortingale's burns for Eve encounter and capture, and we'll most likely pick up the story with the ships entering Eve SOI!

I can totally see this happening to Janny. Need an IVA mod that adds a drawer labeled "Blunt Trauma Weapons". Well it might--KER is incorrect, I actually have less than half as much dV as is shown on the display. But I think all I have to do is get an orbit. Between Martingale, Kranefly, Evestation and Alouette if I can't get everything refueled I should turn in my Powerpoint license.

Hah, yeah... BTW since you've been playing with Hummlebee you might have noticed I did something a little smarter on that ship--Brakes group triggers everything but I have a separate AG to toggle off the wheel brakes for landing. Also, teaser!

Well, I know what's wrong with the brakes now--absolutely nothing. Once again I have outsmarted myself; I moved the wheel brakes to AG0 thinking that I would want to have AIRBRAKES on at touchdown, but let the wheels roll for a bit before stepping on the pedal. Did this in the previous version of Gliido and did not even look at the action groups before launching the 7P. Oh well--what's done is done, and you'll all see what happened to Kenlie, his passengers and Martystu just as soon as I can make the pages. So now that that's solved I officially <3 this new Gliido! Handles better in atmosphere than anything I've ever built. In a separate trial I overshot the runway, did a 180 and landed on it--all without turning on the engine. It gets to Micarooni Station with fuel to spare, and of course from there it can go pretty much anywhere in the solar system. Hopefully it'll survive 1.1.

What Are Things You've Heard That Made You Facepalm?
Mister Dilsby replied to michaelsteele3's topic in The Lounge
That really puts the Au in "Auuuuuuughhh!!" -
Absolutely! Neither pilot is Air Service, but I'm sure that's on their minds. Whoops, too bad I never bound those to the brake key--would be nervous about deploying them one at a time asymmetrically, but yeah that's an option. Me too--in fact I quicksave nearly as often as I take a screenshot. (hm, maybe I should bind those to the same key...) If Bill was aboard no doubt he'd go in the file and fix the brakes somehow--but he's not, so it's up to Kenlie to make sure everyone walks away from this!

[CANCELED]My space program [CANCELLED]
Mister Dilsby replied to Thegamer211's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
Very neat little station! The storytelling is also very crisp and clear. Well done Gamer! -
I know! I was soooo mad, I mean this is indeed the very FIRST time flying the 7P (though yes I've had experience with similar airframes) and I managed to drop it from ?!@$% orbit to the absolute front center of the ?!@#$ *&@#! runway--- ^&!@$ deadstick mind you! And then this happens. That is IT I've had it with this game and I'm not playing KSP any more until after work.

...seriously? Just for that, this should be the only update you guys get today! Oh, all right then. So is this one of the known wheel bugs? Because it seems like it should be. Either that or I somehow disabled the brakes in SPH. Torque is set to full on all wheels and it's still not slowing down. Aaahhh! Save us, Martystu, save us!

Well, I think she was once a cellular peptide cake. Now THAT was a bizarre episode. Thank you! It means "Edited To Add", I didn't know what it meant either before I started on the Forum

Did I spell her name wrong or something? Seven actors get billing, and Marina Sirtis is one of them.

It was a bit subtle, but I already did it Remember, you can never tell which kind of lookie is looking at your story... until it's too late! I'm glad these minor characters are working for you guys, though there is no way I can fit them all in a future story and do it justice. Remember, classic Star Trek works with about seven 'bridge' characters--take your pick between [Kirk, Spock, McCoy, Scotty, Uhura, Sulu, Chekov] or [Picard, Ryker, Troi, Data, Worf, Crusher, LaForge] So far we've seen the following characters developed to some extent: Command Pilots--Val, Dilsby Pilots--Jeb, Tedus, Kenlie, Gregmore, Newdun Engineers--Bill, Clauselle Scientists--Bob, Lisa, Melbe, Kathna, Janny That's fourteen--twice the magic number. I'll have to make the final selection based on practicalities as much as anything else--how many billets I have for a given specialty, skill levels, visual/speech differentiation, etc.

I'm pretty much going down the bad fanfiction trope list and checking them off, so yeah and sorry, that is the fake--it's just too small to see well. I copied it in from the "soooo cool" panel. It's a level worse than that, I'm thinking about writing Kenlie's writing when I should be playing KSP instead of doing what I'm supposed to be doing!

You're right, they do react pretty similarly. Well, I can use that Things are just about where I want them to be now around Kerbin. I should be able to land the Gliido (or try to) next game session, and after that we'll get back to the main story. Currently 20 days from planar correction burns for Eve...

Right, it'll be Kenlie, Gregmore, Newdun, and the two science kerbelles. None of them have a distinctive dialect or an orange suit, and there's be only two different speech balloon colors among the five of them. And I'll do the whole thing without character portraits so you'll just have to guess who's speaking based on which end of the Brutalist-designed ship the words are coming out of. Fun galore!
