  1. I did notice that when you did it and thought it was a good solution. The visual with the multicolored stripes just didn't work for me though. Prior to seeing Parkaboy's solution I did "multiple voices" by joining all the balloons into one and just making it white rather than my usual branch-of-service differentiation scheme.
  2. Glad to see that foreshortening the Klaw in that image increased the foreboding As to what's up with Val: if you think you've seen that exact image of her before you're not wrong. I did not use a recent screenshot for it.
  3. 6/10 I have seen several of your 28 posts in the Mission Reports section. A few of those posts contain comics!
  4. Yes. Just edit the original post, go to "Advanced", and you will see the thread title in a text box you can edit. I do it all the time
  5. Kerbfleet! The original KSP webcomic series! Often imitated--and frequently surpassed! Three more pages
  6. ^^yes, please, relax. As much as I enjoy the high reply count and views, this is not a chat thread and doesn't need to get bumped. New pages will come out as they come out, and comments will appear when and if people have something to say about them.
  7. This might be a better topic for the "writers talk about writing" thread, but I think there's a world of difference between picking up a visual technique from someone and 'plagiarism' (which I don't think you meant to be confrontational, but that's not a word you want to throw at another writer even if you're kidding ) For the record I don't think what you're doing with my stuff is plagiarism either. We're all adding to an open source fanon, and if my characterizations resonate so well that you can't help but use them in your own Kerbalverse, I'm honored.
  8. Excellent work, wow! Looks like we have yet another talented writer/artist on the Forum I can watch and learn from.
  9. It's a few hundred days until the Hohmann transfer home, but I anticipate Kranefly having a LOT of dV to spare (it's already been to Gilly and back for a top-off), so I may leave sooner than that. In any case I will probably not have any Interlude until everyone is (hopefully) on the way out of Eve SOI. As to the next mission, I have always intended to wait for 1.1, add life support (if it's not stock in 1.1) and go to Jool. Could indeed make a stop at Dres on the way. Will consider doing something sooner depending on what's in 1.0.5, but I have to say this is becoming a but exhausting... If I do an Interlude in this book, it will be a teaser for the next. Am already thinking up something...surprising
  10. Really enjoyed this, +rep. Appreciate you showing failures as well as successes, working through problems is what makes the game so much fun.
  11. Yeah, it wasn't fun. Careful readers will note that it actually got dark on Eve between the time I started the surface dock and when I finally finished it. I chose not to show all the work, but at one point I did have to reset the ports in the .sfs because the M7's showed "docked" not "ready". Anyway--dock accomplished, and refueling has begun! And now a request: I could use a couple of custom IVA suit textures to do the last chapter of this book, when the time comes. Interested party(ies) please contact my by PM. I know what I'm looking for in the suit designs and can provide prototype artwork for you to turn into Texture Replacer-ready suit files for me. Thanks in advance!
  12. I like the look of that album very much, and also the new "press conference" sig banner!
  13. Always quicksaves, but you'll be pleased to know my F5 to F9 ratio was pretty favorable this time! Surprisingly easy. Slow going climbing the hills, as I had to stop to refuel every few kilometers, but not at all difficult. I had to reload just once, when I let the speed get above 40 m/s going down a steep hill...otherwise pretty uneventful. Took less than one sol to drive the full distance. Yep: five seats in the M7, five Kerbals on the surface (Jeb, Dilsby, Bob, Bill, Tedus).
  14. I noticed you made some changes in focus and narrative in you last update. Why don't you talk a bit about what you changed, what motivated you to do it, and what you think works and doesn't work in the comic right now? I think you (and others reading the thread) would get more out of a discussion than a bunch of open-ended suggestions.
  15. The base image was from a barometer scan--I thought it appropriate. Love that Eve surface multiplier!
  16. Boost and coast, boost and coast, refuel (repeat) Good call--here's the current roster as of this moment in the comic: EVE SURFACE M7 Lander-- Lt Kernel Jebediah Kerman (Pilot), Lt Dilsby Kerman (Command) Billmobile-- Looty Bob Kerman (Science/Designated Driver) Lt Comder Bill Kerman (Engineer) 1st Looty Tedus Kerman (Pilot) EVE ORBIT Mortingale-- Comder Valentina Kerman (Command) Kranefly-- Enzin Gregmore Kerman (Pilot) GILLY ORBIT Evestation-- Looty Lisa Kerman, Jr Looty Melbe Kerman (Science), Enzin Clauselle Kerman (Engineer) Alouette-- Abandoned
  17. Let's get rolling with Chapter 8 and a Kerbfleet PSA for the weekend: enjoy that hydrazine responsibly! 1000x time warp is effective for this as well--electric charge goes to full, fuel cell shuts off, and tanks get heavy! Yes it is I'm afraid, I already have a song picked out by another... Artist.
  18. You're not kidding! M7 is about half full of oxididant and not-full-at-all of LF, and it all has to come through one drill and one ISRU, powered by one fuel cell bank, 2 RTGs, and a couple of OX-STAT panels. ETA: assuming everything works as planned and I manage to dock the two ships together. Aye aye, quite true! This is why I designed the Billmobile the way I did; those aircraft wheels are quite robust up to about 40 m/s on Eve. Very rarely have I driven anywhere without a lot of F5/F9, and this one did the 25km from its landing site to Dipperkraft in one go. I'm as surprised as you are--I really thought I could get it closer than I got the Billmobile! Oh well. No hurry, this offer is good any time Seriously? I think I tried that once and it ripped the drill off. Already have one picked out! Just need to finalize the lyrics and Kerbalize yet another musical artist.
  19. This should help get things back on track somewhat. So you all remember that super-secret feature HarvestR was putting into 1.0, people thought it was going to be n-body physics or multiplayer or some other implausibly complicated thing and it turned out to be...rocket exhaust bouncing off the ground? I didn't really appreciate what an awesome addition that was until this Eve landing. Whoo, M7 down in a cloud of purple smoke! Wish i could have gotten a cleaner shot with F2, but I was a bit busy at the time. Next up--who, if anyone, is sober enough to drive the Billmobile? How long will it take? What traveling music will I use? Just how hard is it to perform a surface dock with a rocket car in 1.7g? And what will Mikki--who won the contest by having the least faith in my atmospheric landing ability--decide to do with her prize? Tune in for Chapter 8, coming soonish!
  20. I tend not to; I use the term 'gentlekerbs' to apply to both males and females, and pretty much just call them all 'kerbals'. The exception is when I use a language that has gender, like French; thus Clauselle Kerman is 'une kerbelle' and a hypothetical Claude Kerman would be 'un kerbal'. Come to think of it this might not even be canon for me, I probably only used it in a post and not in the comic itself.
  21. Fantastic, great way to tie a neat bow around Volume 1. Still some loose ends, of course (biggest one I can think of is the sabotage/murder/Dark Fabien explanation) but I trust all will be revealed in 'time'.
