  1. Coworkers were talking about it, so I downloaded the 0.13.3 demo. 0.15 was out at the time. I bought it when 0.16 was released.
  2. It follows, therefore, that any technology distinguishable from magic is insufficiently advanced.
  3. Quitting is easy. I've quit cold turkey hundreds of times already. It comes in piles?!? (We had a blizzard last winter. That means the snow wasn't completely gone by 10:00 AM.) I'm on the Gulf Coast here. The AC isn't actually running full-time yet, but it's not far off.
  4. Alpha Spacecraft Two Ship III D Craft[4] . . .
  5. Shhhh! Stop destroying my carefully built rationalizations! On the serious side, though: Not every message is public, you know. Well, a quick check on Amazon shows that it's not much more than a pack of smokes. It's April. Isn't the AC running full-time yet?
  6. Yeah, I've always done that. My ex-mother-in-law long ago convinced me of it. Her house was always full of smoke. Spending a few minutes there was enough to permeate that smell into everything. Those triggers can be hard to avoid, especially when you hang out with other smokers on a regular basis. I was just thinking along the lines of the second. Or at least get in the habit of not smoking at home and try to work on that first, before moving on to other locations, like at work and driving. The weekly RPG session is going to be the really hard one.
  7. I just want to complain that y'all are making me feel guilty for not quitting yet... (I know I need to, but the last year and a half just seem to be one thing after another. Every time things seem to be settling down, something else comes up.)
  8. I have some shots of an older iteration of it, but not a vehicle. I'll try and get one up at some point when I get a free moment. Hrm. Let's see if this works. Huh. Cool. It looks a little funny without the blue background, though. (Of course, ignore the links in there.)
  9. I'll agree that they might be worth going through at least once, but on subsequent reads they don't quite stand up. But compared to a lot of "children's literature", they're quite good, and if they can get the kids started on reading, then they're worth it.
  10. Class names are usually based on mission types (Orbiter, Lander, Station Core, Power Array, etc.). Vessel names are usually named after specific missions (Orbiter I, Mun III, Station One, Lander Flight Test). Mission names are also based on mission (LKO-1, Mun Orbit 1, Station One Launch, Crew Transport 2, LKO SS Construction 5). I have, occasionally, deviated from this and gone with mythological names, names of WWII aircraft carriers, or phonetic alphabet. I don't need to build the vehicle type/specs into the name, since I track everything through a web site I built, so I only need to click on the name/class/mission to bring up specifics such as cost/dv/mass/part counts, etc.
  11. A New Hope. I mean, COME ON PEOPLE. IT SOUNDS SO CRINGY! The title isn't really any better or worse than the other eight of them. Or thousands of other movie titles out there.
  12. Because their job is to be seen, imposing the Empire's will through a display of force.
  13. Huh. What ever happened to that free speech I recently heard about?
  14. Well, yeah. Speech is fine. Pretending that random noises are speech, however...
  15. Some words should result in capital punishment.
  16. I was there with the last movie. I'm not sure exactly what it was supposed to be, but it sure as hell wasn't Star Wars. Episode 7 was definitely SW, though. But I would have preferred not to rehash Ep. 4, over again.
  17. The same way people in Antarctica manage not to freeze. By using appropriate protective measures.
  18. Of course it is. Everyone knows it's going to be a disco ball.
  19. Style is a different category from methods and material. Materials? I'm not sure. They could possibly come up with better materials than were used in the 1200s. Steel reinforcement of stone construction would probably be "better", and replacing the wood roof support with steel would reduce the chances of such a fire occurring again. Methods? Definitely. It makes no sense to use human/animal power and labor intensive means to construct a building. Of course, I'd be surprised if any buildings constructed today looked as good as Notre Dame in 800 years.
  20. If you were going to build a cathedral today, it would make no sense to build it the way it was done 800 years ago.
  21. That's the theory I've seen put out most often. But I think it's a bit early for an absolute determination.
  22. The axe with the huge obsidian dragonglass blade annoyed me.
