totm aug 2023 What funny/interesting thing happened in your life today?

Only the one? I've had at least four distinct displays like that within two blocks. Amid many smaller ones. -

No. I mean Civil War1. Parliament's been slighting castles, and I think I heard someone decapitating a king. Wait. What are you Canadians getting up to now? 1(Civil War was the first thing that came into my head, since I've been watching a documentary that involved the Civil War. No, not that one, I mean another one.) -

And now my neighborhood sounds and smells like a Civil War recreation. -
Just had an impressive line of storms move through. Lots of cloud-to-ground lightning. And it's supposed to keep storming until late afternoon tomorrow. Hopefully, it'll clear up in time for grilling. At least it's supposed to keep the temperature down.

Y'all are missing the most important change here. If the moon were to be replaced by a black hole, we'd have to put up with an endless1 stream of moon hoaxers asking "How could Apollo land on the moon if there is no moon?!?" 1Ok, even more endless than it is now.

I would like to tell you how cool that is, but profanity is banned. I am therefore sadly unable to say how <insert expletives here> awesome your build is.

Seriously? "Excessive Heat Warning"?

Where I live is outside of any city limits, and the county has no laws against fireworks. Be happy that people wait until near the 4th to set off fireworks. Around here, they randomly go off throughout the year. -
It's a sauce. How you use it, however, is entirely up to you. Use it as a sauce, or a dip, or a spread, or a condiment, or eat it out of a bowl with a spoon as a soup for all I care. The real problem is Now I want some guacamole, and I don't have any!

I have to admit, our Saturn V may be the only one made entirely of flight hardware, but MSFC's Saturn V display beats ours.
-
I was there in March. I grew up and have spent most of my life a stones throw away from JSC. I've seen the Saturn V they have many times. It's still impressive, even though I see it nearly every day, and rarely even notice it. Seeing the vertical stack model in Huntsville was a perspective changing experience. It's like nothing else. I don't care if you've seen other Saturn Vs. If you ever have the chance to see the model in Huntsville, do so.

Near as I can tell, that's not the case. When I log in to the store, I still have the transfer button: (Of course, I can't be sure what actually happens if you press the button, and I don't have a desire to find out.)
-
If you bought it from the website before a certain date, you have the option to transfer it to Steam.

So, you have a plane on a conveyor belt...

Then it's a cow. -
Sending usage information back to Squad.

I don't think about it at all.

I don't understand it either. My problem has been finding a chance to read. I find it very hard to read when it's not quiet, and until lately, it seems like there's always a TV on, or a phone playing youtube, or video games, or loud music, etc. constantly. Or all of them at once! Yeesh.

Apparently, I'm the bad guy because I actually expect my wife to have actually packed and and moved her crap out and pay her damn car payment after five months. Am I an ass if I start dropping off the (voluntary) child support checks in an envelope full of job applications?

My father told me once that while he had been present at a number of launches, he had never actually seen a launch, since the room he was in didn't have a window directly facing the pad, and the shuttle only came into view once it had risen to a decent altitude. So one day, he figured how long it would take him to get out of the room, down the stairs, and out of the building. Shortly before the launch, he excuses himself and manages to actually watch the launch.

Summer what, now? I'll be spending the summer shaking my cane and yelling at kids to keep off my lawn!

So, the question is now: Given a downhill treadmill that matches the speed of a pigeon's wheels, can it land going uphill? -
I watched something launch in the early '90s from a beach in Florida. On the same trip, I got to see a shuttle stack being rolled out of the VAB. My father got tickets for a whole group of family for the last shuttle launch before his retirement. The launch was delayed due to hail damage to the ET, so we never ended up going. One of the great sadnesses of my life.

And then you just have to figure out a way to feed them all. -
If you pick 1000, and get exactly 5 red and 5 blue, you have bigger problems. If you repeat the experiment over time, you will average half red/half blue, but the chances of any single instance actually being half and half is going to be very low. Edit: See below for someone that wasn't too lazy to actually do the math.

0.13.3 Six years ago. Damned if I can remember.
