  1. It's the height of tomato season in my father's garden. Fresh, ripe tomatoes, full of flavor; so unlike the flavorless wax balls you get at the grocery store. Bacon, lettuce, and tomato sandwiches. (With fried egg) Several kinds of tomato sauce. Tomatoes eaten by themselves. Tomatoes eaten in salad. Tomato and cucumber salad (it's also cucumber season). Tomatoes tomatoes tomatoes! So, right now, I'm craving something besides tomatoes. For dinner, I'm going to have... Pasta, with tomato sauce. Of course.
  2. They wouldn't, because they like to keep people in the dark.
  3. I was much the same. It didn't help that I transferred schools, and what was covered at one in Calc I was not the same as the other, so I bungled Calc II before retaking I.
  4. Followed immediately by stating the fact that yes, it can and has happened. My list shows 44 Allied Destroyers and Destroyer Escorts sunk by u-boats during WWII. This far outstrips the 14 capital ships sunk. And that's not even including the 35 corvettes and frigates sunk. And then there's the ~40 IJN Destroyers sunk by the US submarines. Edit: I haven't seen the movie, so I don't know what happens on film, but the destroyer HMS Grafton was sunk by U-62 during the Dunkirk Evacuation.
  5. Or they're brilliant at it, and are hiding in plain sight. It's so widely known that it's a conspiracy theory, and no one in their right mind would believe it. Anyone who exposes information about it is obviously crazy, and should be disregarded. It naturally follows that some of the more outlandish claims about the Illuminati are spread by the Illuminati themselves, to cover up the more believable true ones that are spread by anti-Illuminati agents.
  6. It had one. The problem is that the whole thing died. No power to the alarm, so it never went off.
  7. My freezer died. Last night, I thought I smelled something in the garage. This morning, it was worse. I figured it was something in the trash that needed to go out tonight. Went to take the trash out, and the garage smelled like something had died in there. Finally realized the freezer was not running. And was surrounded by flies. The warm draft of odor that wafted out when I opened it was quite overpowering. Managed to get a friend over and we dragged it out of the garage. I removed the 20+ pound turkey, two chickens, some bacon, some steaks (sigh), and various other bits from it. It must have been off for several days, but I never noticed. Now my garage smells like decay, bleach, and Pine-Sol. I've washed my hands several times, but I can still smell it. Ugh.
  8. What happens when the station my ship is docked to "expires" and is removed?
  9. "Reposting funny pictures on the internet" is a culture now?
  10. And I think we have quite thoroughly demonstrated that a thread on a conveyor belt both takes off, and yet goes nowhere.
  11. The venerable Boss Key died when the era of windows and task-switching grew to maturity. Complaint: I am unable to locate my whiskey. I set the glass down, and I have no idea where. Nevermind. Crisis averted.

    I'm bored

I'm just more of a fan of the US Fleet Boats1. SH3+GWX was quite good, back when I used to play it. I haven't tried it in a long time. I'll stick with SH4+TMO. 1I will admit, there were some things SH3 did better than SH4, though. And throw in SH3 Commander! If only such existed in SH4!
  13. Also a "I have no idea why you would recommend this" and "I accidentally clicked the wrong video, stop showing me anything remotely related to it!"
  14. I had to buy a replacement motherboard last week. According to my browser, it seems that I was only taking my first step into the wider world of motherboard collecting. Please stop. Ads need a "I already bought what I want, go away now" button.

    I'm bored

The only time I managed to take out a battleship was with a S-boat. Anything else would just be wrong. I play with all the difficulties turned on, except the map updates.

    I'm bored

But @Gargamel said SH3 was better, so it must have fleet boats, right? I think I'll start up a campaign with a Porpoise, just to refresh my memory. It's been a while.

    I'm bored

Oh, I must have missed it. When did they add the US fleet boats? Or even an S-boat. That can be a challenge. I need to get back into SH4. It's been a while.
  18. Because you're a hoopy frood who really knows where his towel is?
  19. Have you not learned? If this thread dies, another will rise to take its place. There can be no escaping the multiplayer discussion. Many have in the past. Many will in the future. Many solutions exist. They all have people that like and dislike them. There is no single solution that will make everyone happy, and so it will continue.
  20. Sir, I think you miss the point. This is the internet. We will not have you derailing a perfectly good science discussion with such nonsense as facts and reality! Take that silliness elsewhere!
  21. I'm opposed to KSP having a story. The wonderful thing is that every time I play it, there's a different story, and things can play out differently. I can start at the dawn of the space age, or as a small start-up, or anything I want. Your story is going to be different from mine, which is different from his, etc. If every time I played KSP, I got the same storyline, the same missions, the same "accomplish this task before you can do something else", I would quickly get bored and the replay value would drop to zero. Having a more "open" story, there's more freedom, but the same series of events and goals would also reduce replayability. But I would still be stuck in someone else's vision of KSP, playing out what the writer thinks it should be. Adding on a new mode might work, if I am able to ignore it and continue playing how I want. Allowing users to create a series of missions, setting the starting conditions, a series of goals, scripted events, and a persistent world between them would be a good idea. This would allow those who wish to write a story in KSP to do so, and it would provide other players with a large supply of different storylines to explore, which helps keep replayability on the table.
  22. When you say "that idea was rubbish", do you mean the old idea that gets posted every so often, or the very concept of adding a story to KSP?
