  1. Can we submit more than one article? I don't imagine more than one could be chosen of course.
  2. I actually did take a spanish class a few months ago. I barely passed, but it did look about right to me. No clue about the other ones.
  3. All aboard the Hype Train, or as google translate probably inaccurately tells me... 所有在炒作火车 すべての誇大車列車に乗る Все на борту Hype Поезд ¡Todo a bordo del Tren Hype!
  4. The Localization Update is a really big deal! Unless you speak english. In which case, it may seem like it's not very important. But nonetheless a lot of good work has been done by Squad's team to make KSP as multi-lingual as possible. Pre-Release for the update will come on March 16th, and will be 1.2.9. 1.2.9 is the pre-release version of 1.3, which unless I'm mistaken will have the same feature list. So far we know of the following features: Localization Keyboard layouts, Kerbal names, text, UI, KSPedia, and part textures. Japanese Simplified Chinese Russian Spanish Struts Both sides of the strut can be moved now New model Something big, apparently. Who knows what. inb4 it's just "the t1 runway is flat now." Terrain fix? Not sure what this is, just saw it in the last devnote. Fix for the misaligned runway. Some fix for the flagpole outside the Astronaut Complex. Heat shields darken correctly.
  5. I won't even argue with this. Presumably the word "Parody" should be used instead.
  6. Well the Hype Train has just crashed into the publication office. And I like writing, so I will be entering this contest.
  7. Planet f is done. It's got grass on its "sunset" band, and a little island of inhospitably further noonwards.
  8. Question: is obvious joking about conspiracy theories alright? Especially if given a "/s" or a "" ?
  9. When I release the mod I will include support to put it in another star system "orbiting" Kerbol at 4 light years away (40/10 ly) and I expect @Sigma88 will jump to have more M-class stars in his Galactic Neighborhood mod. Both of those versions will have removed space centers on their planets. It's possible to put a craft in the save file without a space cneter to launch it from, but the space center is how you go to the tracking station Perhaps quickloads could do it. Actually it would be kind of cool to be trapped in a system that has no Space Center, no Kerbin. Only your one space ship operating alone and far from home. That isolation, that feeling that there is no other Kerbal soul in the entire universe except for the ones on your spacecraft... Remodeling the KSC is however out of the question. I don't even know if it's possible, let alone for me to do it. Kopernicus and its prerequisites.
  10. Download at Spacedock Download at GitHub Discuss at Discord Requires Kopernicus, and Kopernicus Expansions Continued RegionalPQSMods (In version 0.6.0 and 0.7.0, Kopernicus Expansions comes with the mod, you don't need to download it. Make sure you delete the old version of the mod before installing the new version when updating.) The Kerbal Astronomical Union's SLIPPIST instrument (Shadow of Light Imaging of Planets and Planetesimals In the Sky Telescope, not to be confused with the Kerbal brand of Root Beer after which the telescope was named), has just made an incredible discovery this week. The SLIPPIST-1 Star System, around which we previously knew of three Kerbin-sized planets, has been confirmed to be the parent to an additional four planets, for a total of seven. At least three of these worlds are known to be in the habitable zone, the region of space around which water can remain liquid. SEVEN WORLDS AROUND SLIPPIST-1 Rendered in a stockalike art style, SLIPPIST-1 is a Kerbalized rendition of the TRAPPIST-1 star system. Planets have been scaled down to 1/10 scale to fit in the Kerbal universe. By default it replaces the stock system, but there is a setting.cfg that can be used to make the Slippist star system into an alien star system a distance away from the stock system. Seven Worlds of SLIPPIST-1 is an up-to-date depiction of a scientifically accurate TRAPPIST-1. Care has been taken to accurately portray each of the planets without getting in the way of gameplay. Full album and explanation of the system here. More Pictures of the Planets: These pictures showcase Scatterer, which is NOT supported right now. PLANNED FEATURES: Asteroids and comets. (Potential early-game landing destinations.) Science Definitions Keep up to date with newer observations Better Scatterer and EnvironmentalVisualEffects compatibility. INTERSTELLAR CONSORTIUM: As of v0.7.0, Seven Worlds of SLIPPIST-1 now supports Interstellar Consortium. There's a settings file in GameData/SLIPPIST-1/SlippistSettings.cfg. Open it with notepad, and you'll find a single setting option: "System Placement = Home." The two options are "Home" and "Exoplanet." If you wish to play from the planet Kerbin and have SLIPPIST-1 be an extrasolar destination like some other star system mods, such as OtherWorlds for example, you must change it to "System Placement = Exoplanet" and the system will be spawned 428 au away from the stock Sun as defined by the Interstellar Consortium guidelines However, for a more cohesive experience when using multiple planet packs, I recommend installing the IC plugin, so that you can play on SLIPPIST-1 and have the stock system or even play starting from one of the other homeworlds supported by Interstellar Consortium. LICENSE: For the beta period at least, Seven Worlds of SLIPPIST-1 is All Rights Reserved. Kopernicus Expansion Continued is under GNU General Public License.
  11. I modified a webcam to not have an IR filter. This made it nearsighted by also allows it to see in the infrared light. Unless it's wearing sunglasses, it also sees well in visible light. Note that taking pics by holding a laptop computer with a webcam plugged in isn't the easiest thing to do. Note that these aren't photoshopped at all, they're as-is straight from the webcam app. Full Album: http://imgur.com/a/2YFxI
  12. Alternate Titles: The Incredible Hull-kerbal, Big Jeb. A slightly more humanoid Kerbal. I was inspired by some picture of cute characters redone to be big epic characters, and I figured I might try my hand at a Kerbal. I kept in some strange Kerbal proportions like extra long arms and the uneven proportion of upper/lower leg bones. I gave him the half-EVA-half-IVA space suit from my old MultiColorSpaceSuits texture replacer pack, so he keeps his orange suit but also has jetpack, EVA-rated boots and gloves, and a control box on the front. It appears that Jeb is disappointed in being changed, maybe he liked being a cute little blob after all.
  13. I found Kerbin's and Kerbulus' weird little brother. It's called Kassini, and it's inhabited by the Kassinans. They're just plain old weirdos. They worship the color bread. They have orange/blue morality. They drink literal hydrazine. Their space program insists upon sending its ships in orbits that are 90 degrees inclined to the other planets, just because they see Kerbin and Kerbulus doing it. (With their continents) They walk backwards sometimes because they think it makes them cool. They 'randomly' scream out curse words in reverse latin. They have up to fifty arms depending on their social status. Their music entirely consists of We Are Number One But remixes. They launch their space program from a savanna. It's hidden in a pocket of hammerspace at the Kerbin-Sun L3 point, which the Kassinians put there themselves on a dare. (Just because I built Kerbulus doesn't mean this is canon, don't take it as such unless you're Kuzzter and have some use for it somehow, in which case PM me but I really don't expect that to happen)
  14. Lowel, an upcoming planet for my HSoC mod: The heightmap is directly lifted from Lowell's map and then modified to be an actual planet. (Which means also that some of the darker albedo features of Mars are visible in ocean form)
  15. Make sure you're using the right version of Kopernicus and KSP, or ask in the Kopernicus thread about PostOrbitSpawn. The really close orbit is neccesary in order to reduce KSC bugs, and it appears something has made the part that moves the orbit to Jool to not happen.
  16. I apologize and retract myself from the conversation. I have no excuse for my behavior and I'm sorry to @daniel l.
  17. Stellarator is a tool which will eventually allow for the procedural generation of lots of planets, so there's no need for this. Not to mention that we already have Galactic Neighborhood which is a galaxy mod that allows modded systems to be put into space as other star systems. Essentially what you describe, but with no redistribution of assets and more stability.
  18. Further Plans for RevSSS. Minor Moons: Mix: Little white moon of Eeloo. Physical characteristics based from Plutonian Outer Satellites. Gilly: Slightly darker color scheme. Rimos: Dark grey little moon of Duna and Ike. Orbital characteristics based from Plutonian Outer Satellites. Joolean Moon Orbits: Moved to the default starting orbits used by Principia, with semi-major axis multiplied by 2. (Broken out of the dangerous resonance) This accounts for the increase in mass of Jool, as well as makes the system look a little more Jovian. Resize all Joolean Satellites back to their former radii as a starting point. The unique thing about the Joolean system has been its oversized moons. I think a possible point that keeps people away from the mod is how it changes the Jool system so much. A Jool-5 (Well, Jool-8) challenge in RevSSS 0.5 would be a bit more boring for sure. The old smaller Joolean system will be available as an optional config, and will still be the default option if I ever get around to DecaKerbol. I haven't forgotten the "realism" aspect of the mod, I've merely decided to suspend it by default for the Joolean system. A New Revamp for Tylo Modify and refurbish heightmap. Whiten up terrain again. It was too dark before. Remove high-contrasting dark terrain. (Iapetus got its from dark material from Phoebe causing a runaway sublimation effect. The closest thing to that would possibly be Vall, but Vall's blue color isn't exactly going to look very good against Tylo's white.) Make larger than Kerbin but with lower mass. (It's now an ice/silicate body instead of an ice/iron body.) A New Revamp for Eeloo Mix of cellular terrain and floating mountain features of Pluto with the smooth and cracked terrain of Europa. Whiter terrain with red/brown scratches and brown highlands. A New Revamp for Mun Make the big craters into flattened maria on the near side. Brighter, more cratered far side. More canyon biomes, acting as the "rift valleys" of the Moon. Less brown than the current revamp. Cloud Pack for E.V.E. Eve: Complete pinkish/brown cloud cover. Kerbin: Hand-made (Non-photographic) Cloud Map. Unless I can't make it look good. In that case, it would just be support for the normal expected earth-based cloud map. Duna: Lower brown dust clouds, upper white whisps of water ice clouds. Jool: Lower green layer and upper white layer, with counter-rotating cloud zones. Laythe: Dense grey/white cloud cover, obscuring much of the ocean. Potential dark brown ash clouds held static at volcanic sites. Optional "clear skies" version If possible, a constant rain effect would be nice. Canonically, acid rain. Obviously. Vall: Cryovolcanism Effect derived from KSPRC Eeloo. Eeloo: Ditto, with increased effect compared to Vall. I may never get these done though.
  19. Idea: A RevSSS-Lite:

    • Atmosphere curve and appearance improvements for atmospheric planets.
    • Include Revamped Jool and Duna Restoration Project
    • Move the major moons of Jool to Principia-compatible orbits.
    • Include RevSSS Ike.
    • Include RevSSS Pol and Gilly.
    • Include a lite-version of Laythe Revamp, with changed color scheme but same map.
