That doesn't look like the right building. I'm looking at street view images from before they put that up and I don't remember the office front looking like that at all. Unless they moved. I seem to remember it being this building: Behind the "garage door" on the bottom left was a big meeting area for everyone. Or it might have been the building to the immediate right... I really can't remember for sure, it was three years ago. I just know that spiky corduroy facade on that one building didn't exist back when I visited.

I landed for the first time on the Kopernicus planet I've been experimenting with, called Crush. Sort of. Landing under 4.3 gravities is a bit hard.

Did a little update to the first post with new download links - not a new version, just new links as I rearranged my dropbox and the old ones were broken. But there's a note there now too! Maybe, maybe I'll redo this with 1.1 and Unity 5's new audio system but I don't know. I'm more keen on encouraging someone else to take up the task and build a better Muffler; one that's configurable and more realistic.

How are satellites deployed to the right orbit from the ISS?
NovaSilisko replied to THX1138's topic in Science & Spaceflight
You could do it with a solar-electric propulsion module docked to the rear of it, actually. It would take a long time, but it would be perfectly doable. -
How are satellites deployed to the right orbit from the ISS?
NovaSilisko replied to THX1138's topic in Science & Spaceflight
They have deployed a lot of cubesats in recent times, actually. As Nibb said though, they do it just before they raise the orbit of the station to compensate for atmospheric drag, so as to avoid any collision concerns. (re: Gravity, I just sort of made the assumption that they'd moved Hubble to the same orbit as ISS for easier maintenince, which IIRC was a real proposal at one point after Columbia, so the shuttle, if damaged, would still be able to retreat to the safety of the station) -
Oh cool, this thread again.

what the hell happened to this thread

I'm fairly confident KSP just doesn't want me to play it. There's always something that, every time I give it a shot after a break, ruins the entire experience...

I started up KSP for the first time in forever and built a lander and sent it to the mun. While landing my orbital velocity went to NaN m/s while still flying. Then I went to IVA mode, and was greeted with a black screen and the deletion of all my UI. Quickloading deleted the universe. KSP relationship status: strained.

The Planet Nine Probe challenge

Oh, I haven't seen it either. I'm just making a general statement. -
The Planet Nine Probe challenge

It's not making the planet that's hard, it's making the planet look good. -
What's your favorite/least favorite environments?

I imagine your eyeballs love you. -
Something about the Voyager spacecraft turning into V'ger and then making the borg and turning into a borg cube and because Rosetta is cubical with lumps on it it looks like a borg cube and therefore Voyager has... returned, or something.

This thread is a disaster.

Sputnik wasn't nearly as visible as the booster that carried it. They painted the rocket core white so it would catch the light more easily. When looking for Sputnik, most people would see the rocket stage - not the much dimmer point nearby that was Sputnik itself. Also visible were the two fairing panels that ejected just before Sputnik did. So, technically, the order of objects in orbit is: Rocket stage->fairing panels->Sputnik For visible diameter, I refer you to this handy chart: So for perfect vision, with the ISS directly overhead with its solar panels aiming at you, it's just small enough to not be discernible in shape. Something four times the size of ISS, though, and you'd start to be able to make out its geometry (assuming excellent vision again). The ISS is in fact visible in daylight early or late in the day (source: I saw it), but only barely. It's very easily lost in the bright sky.

Maybe this is my true destiny...

Yeah, I just have been playing in sandbox to make all of these. The micromanaging in regular career mode gets to be too much sometimes. Sneak peeks of future things... (Wow we can embed tweets? Neat.)

So, has anybody ever heard of the game The Movies? It was a love of mine long ago which has recently resurfaced. To the unaware, the best way I could sum it up would be "Hollywood Simulator 2005". My interest in it has recently been revived. As such, I present without further ado, the latest Silisko Pictures production: 2002 THE SPACE ODD It is a highly detailed remake of 2001: A Space Odyssey. I am sure you will agree that the plot follows the original's almost to the letter, while the special effects and acting have been brought up to the standards of 2016. Tickets on sale now, only available in the You Tubes. Note: Video contains a few curse words, if you're alarmed by such things. Also, it's pretty stupid overall. I am sure you will all be thrilled to know this is merely the first of many.

Star Wars Ep. I, II and III Anti-Cheese Version
NovaSilisko replied to Fr8monkey's topic in The Lounge
I watched the Episode 1 edit but wasn't super fond, a lot more than just cheesiness has been removed. The whole early plot is condensed and the pacing is totally thrown off by the editing. (Though, Jar Jar's voice being replaced with generic "alien speech" and subtitles was a great idea, although it doesn't actually make any sense why he'd be tagging along with the Jedi in the first place, wasn't the original reason for that him being saved and thus having a life debt? Or something.) -
40 kilometers from a shooting range and you heard it? What the hell were they firing there?

@mythbusters844 That image needs "this image posted" added to it somewhere in there.
