What about two seperate rocket launches and then assembly in orbit? Wouldn't that be cheaper with the 1st stage returning and being reused?

Engine crafting/customization
Wjolcz replied to Wjolcz's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Well, I always thought of procedural as being stretchy like the pWing. Where you have some sort of indicators and drag them around in order to "mold" a structure. But my native language isn't English so I might be wrong. -
It could also be a nice place to launch VTOLs from. Like a helipad. Except bigger, so it's easier to land on.

Ideas for Level 4 Pilots
Wjolcz replied to Wcmille's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Actually I don't think there would be any problem with such mechanic. No need for 64bit. Think about this: you have one vessel and X parts are loaded during the flight. Hit space, one of the stages falls back to the planet and the other half (2nd stage) is space-bound. If it goes beyond the 22km limit but both vessels are still loaded there's no lag. It's still X parts and the ground is loaded based on the vicinity of the vessel closer to it (1st stage which is about to land). Basically what one of those mods does. Don't remember the name. Was it called "Never Unload", or sth? Found it: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/index.php?/topic/44874-tt-neverunload-vessel-unloading-preventer/ -
Huh. I don't remember replying to this thread. What was I thinking saying the career is alright? Ok, so the tech tree changed again and I can't launch some of my vessels because the parts they contained are beyond my reach (550 SP nodes and later). I'm torn apart now. Not sure if I should try to grind my way throuth the tree to them or start a new one with a modded (and more sane) tech tree. And I'm not torn because I like the grind, but because I have already so many flights in my career and don't want to abandon them ;_; I'll miss you, Laythe Pigeon you were my favourite *creepy smooch*

So recently I've been thinking about how crafting systems work in some games (like Fallout 4). Then I remembered that people like to clip engines into one another and thought that it might be interesting to be able to design your own engines in KSP instead of using the cheat menu. So let's take the LEGO rockets to the next level. How I see it is you would be able to edit one of already in-game engines. Click the "Edit" button and the engine is taken apart so you can clearly see all the critical parts like pumps, gimbal nodes, the nozzle and other things. Then you click on one of the components you want to replace: Nozzle: length, width (1.25m or 2.5m?), type of the nozzle itself (aerospike or RAPIER-like multi nozzle) The pump: how much fuel do you want to flow through the pipes per second Gimbal range: limited by the size and type of the nozzle you chose Type of fuel: Mono, LF-only, LF+O or Hybrid? Something else? I don't mean procedural parts, btw. More like cycle-through mechanic. All the stats (ISP, Thrust, etc.) would update as you'd cycle through the components, of course. What do you think? Would that be any useful? Are there any IRL examples of taking apart engines and creating Frankenrockets? Imagine a gimballing atomic aerospike o.o

I actually didn't know they had a rollercoaster mounted up there. So when is the EVA happening? -
Just remember not to suck your parent star all at once or it might end badly.

Ideas for Level 4 Pilots
Wjolcz replied to Wcmille's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Add this: Vessels don't despawn when flying in the atmosphere no matter how far they are if a pilot's on board. Something like this would make Stratolaunches possible. -
Sooooo... Random failures? I wouldn't have anything against random failures as lond as we had more in-the-field engineering flexibility. KIS and KAS are great when it comes to engines that came off or partially crashed/damaged vessels. Just replace that wheel which you lost with a new one and keep on rollin'.

I actually knew that Ford crash-landed a plane, but thought Hamill had a car accident recently too and a scar on his face. I've done the research a second ago and it seems I mixed the years. What that wampa did to Luke's face in E:V was no make up.

I just came back and I'll say I really enjoyed it. As some people have already said: the first part of the movie > the second part of the movie. Not like it's super bad, but it feels like they had different plans for the second part and they had to modify the script in hurry. Apart from that I think Abrams did really well and I liked the fact that they used actual props and not CGI. That certainly was a good decision. Heard that Mark Hamill had some accident (probably that's why he appearad by the end only). I can imagine they might have had to modify the script because of that. If that's the case it's totally acceptable and they pulled it off really well IMO. The other thing I kind of didn't like was the lack of original soundtrack. I think the original one was great and the one in E:VII felt like they had an urge to make it sound more fresh. Oh, and a quick edit: Let's be honest. You don't watch Star Wars for the brilliant plot. It's never been super original. Not like I dislike it, because E:V and E:VII are my favs plot-wise, but still: Good vs Evil and princesses.

Then xenon production would be a nice justification for already overweight and oversized ISRU converter. Attach an air intake and it should work just fine, right?

adding multiplayer
Wjolcz replied to wolf creates16's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I actually agree with you, but I would also love to fool around with some people on a BAD-T themed server. It's really fun to build newer and better fighters and engage each other in dogfights. I really enjoy flying and shooting. That's why I play IL-2, except you can't use your imagination there and build your own machines. And that's what KSP is really good at. However, I think exploring the solar system should be in some way rewarding. I also play GTA V, which maybe isn't the least violent game and the best example here, BUT griefing and agression towards others is discouraged by different stats that go down when acting in a harmful way. I very often find myself just roaming around without hurting anybody and think MP in KSP could work in similar way. Players could get orders, badges and other shiny things for succesful landings, setting up colonies with other people, fulfilling contracts and overall cooperation. There should always be a choice, but with better rewards for when playing by the rules and being nice to each other.- 367 replies

Some form of landing zone predictor
Wjolcz replied to r4pt0r's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Yup. I agree. Maybe the higher the level the smaller the predicted landing site gets. And yeah, Trajectories is a great mod. -
So the parts from the tech tree got messed up and if I lack the patience to organise everything back in place I might turn to a custom one. What I'm looking for is a tech tree that is somehow based on human history of jet/rocket propulsion research. A post WW2 thing. You start with Juno engine and tiny size rockets. Build your first Me 262, break some records. Then you get the Wheesley and find out it's not that good for your Stiletto, and so on and so forth. Is there anything like that with stock parts? And I don't want RSS. I'm a casual, you know.

I'm not really sure if this should go in here or not, but I have a problem with my career after updating to 1.0.5. So some of the parts in career got moved and now appear to be duplicated. The game tells me I can't launch vessels because of locked parts. Except I have no idea how to delete the dupes. Or maybe I should simply download some custom tech tree...
