  1. That would actually make sense. Yuri Gagarin didn't land his capsule. He jumped out with a parachute.
  2. Yeah, keeping her close to the ground wasn't the brightest idea. I'll make sure the plane is more stable next time. Sorry for the inconvenience.
  3. Thanks. Your plane was really well designed too. Hispanos FTW! Woooooooo! Bronze is mine!
  4. That's why I propose those missions. The game already has some sort of way to check where the ore was mined ('Haul ore from X to Y' contracts in the stock game), so having missions instead of a stock market would be easier to implement (at least I hope it would since you only change the final destination which is Kerbin in this case). Ore can contain all sorts of things IRL, if we assume it's the soil. So what the company we are seeling the ore to wants to extract from it is up to them. Kind like how it works in the mining companies: there's one company that provides big trucks meant for soil hauling. They bring it to the refinery and the refinery extracts precious things from it. Except in this case the player would be the truck manufacturer and the driver, and 'the refinery' would be the ones who pay for it (some sort of company, i dunno). And about the gold ore: Xenon could fill that gap really well since it's already in the game and is not cheap. Assuming the only way of obtaining it is an atmospheric body (though it could cause unwanted exploits on Kerbin).
  5. Well, yeah. The basics of the system are there. The problem is it looks as if someone (you know who I'm talking about) had a meeting and decided "Okay we want this new career mode to be a thing. Any ideas guys?" and then everyone throws their completely unrelated ideas into the box without a look at what the other person has written on their piece of paper and call it a finished meeting.
  6. Nice. Was waiting for this one. Will watch it when I'm back home.
  7. Sounds a bit overcomplicated to me, @Mr. Scruffy, but I like the whole mission scaling and steps idea. Instead of the mission tree there could be Program tabs in the Mission Control with a few missions at once. If you chose a mission and completed it a new one would appear in its place and the rest would still be available. I would especially love to see ore hauling missions with Kerbin being the center of the whole business. You would pick sth like Ore Hauling Business/Program and in the tab there would be a mission available for each body in the system. They would be always available. They would specify how much 1 unit of (let's say from Laythe) ore is worth. You would get money depending on how much ore you brought back to Kerbin (only!). Once you landed a tank full of precious ore you would get paid, the mission would be completed and you could accept another one. The logic here is based on this: You have two vessels coming from Laythe back to Kerbin. Each has tanks full of Laythe ore. You land one and get paid (the mission deactivates). The second one is still coming but not yet there. You can do two things: Activate the mission again and land it as soon as it's back, or leave the vessel in orbit and wait till the price is better. Once you decide you need money you go into MC, accept the mission and land said vessel. M-m-m-money!
  8. Do malfunctions happen in sandbox mode too? Because it seems like the Juno engine can't behave properly after a supersonic dive. At least I think that's how I managed to break it. When right-clicked the engine shows the thrust output properly (18kN iirc), but the seems to lack power even at full thrust.
  9. Eh. Seems like a troll thread to me anyway. I have encountered no problems with the landing gear so far.
  10. Yes, I agree. Simply having the dV equation in the KSPedia would work well too.
  11. Ok so this challenge is actually flawed in stock because the limit is 25km. Unless someone's using some never unload mod it's not worth trying.
  12. Toss a bomb as far as you can and run away! "Alright, sonny! We have a mission for you! There's a certain payload you have to drop at a certain location. The problem is you can't be anywhere near to it once it hits the target, because of some device the eggheads decided to put in it! So better figure out a way to do that, pilot! If you need any modifications done to your aircraft of choice, just ask the boys at the hangar and I'm sure they'll deliver you something nice and shiny!" THE RULES: 1. The plane must use one Juno engine only! 2. The plane must be crewed (you mustn't use any probe cores) 3. The bomb must carry a tiny LF tank full of fuel (50 units) as a part of the bomb. It must remain full after the separation! 4. You can use 2 Sepratrons for a boost after decoupling (either on the bomb or the plane to run away, but not on both) 5. You must either take pictures or record a video of your attempt 6. You get +5km to your overall score for hitting the Island Airfield 7. You must try to beat my score and have fun! I'd prefer if it remained stock parts-wise, but it's OK if you use procedural parts for the plane (the bomb has to have that tiny stock fuel tank though) THE ENTRY: LEADERBOARDS 1. Veeltch - 21.0km 2. THIS COULD BE YOU! 3. THIS COULD BE YOU! 4. THIS COULD BE YOU! 5. THIS COULD BE YOU! Some additional info: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toss_bombing Good luck, pilots! o7
  13. How about running a proper space program instead of the "career" mode we have right now?
  14. Any actual science instead of clickity-click clickfest is much desired. All the instruments should have graphs and such.
  15. How did you come to conclusion that a ramp is similar to BDA? Thanks for the pr0 tip, but I still think that it would be more useful than two additional launch platforms.
  16. Oh btw: the program wouldn't have to end with deorbiting the station. Since programs would have different 'steps' you could be able what the final mission would be. So the program is about to end and you get a few final missions to accept: Deorbit, Repurpose the station, Boost it to a higher orbit/Mun orbit/Other planet. Any of those missions would close the program if done right and would unlock new programs, as I have stated previously.
  17. NovaSilisko, who made the planets, said that Duna was the smallest body with an atmosphere that would look good. Basically the atmosphere on Moho would look really weird because of it's size and that's why we don't have an atmosphere on Eeloo (which originally was meant to be there). Unless Unity 5 brought some cool graphic/tmospheric effects there's no way to make it look good afaik.
  18. I don't think more launch pads are needed. As long as the career upgrade scheme is a thing (every upgrade makes it hold higher sizes/weights) there's no need to have a few of them. Another runway (with a ramp maybe?) would be a good thing though. And about the swamp: I'd prefer a rover testing grounds tbh. I understand the nostalgia, but I think the pond by the admin building might be a reference to that swamp thing from the earliest versions of the game.
  19. There are sliders in the pause menu settings
  20. I agree. If the Admin Building worked differently (had PROGRAMS instead of STRATEGIES), we would be able to do a step-by-step research programs on different things, just like IRL. So let's take the Space Station for an example: The Space Station Research Programs offers a mission to send a newcore module of a new station the HQ is planning to maintain in LKO. Once the core is there you get more missions that tell you to expand the station/rotate the crew/maintain it somehow (KIS/KAS?). You go on with the missions completing them by adding new modules and such and once the main goals are achieved (have a crew of at least 7, rotate it X times, have a lab, perform Y experiments) a new final mission pops up: Deorbit the Station. After the mission is succesful a new program appears: Interplanetary Manned Vessel Research Program (basically a space station with engines) with new missions focused on building a vessel that is capable of exploring other planets.
  21. The threads suggesting parts are back and spreading really fast! Maybe this thread should be renamed to something "CHECK THIS THREAD BEFORE YOU POST A SUGGESTION", or something like that?
