You went with a 6' Dobs, right? Fair warning, it\'ll be a bit tricky to get decent photos.

Silisko Industries Addon Development - Thread 2
zombiphylax replied to NovaSilisko's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
It wouldn\'t be that hard to update the BACE things, it\'d just take a bit of free time and comparing the config files between the new pods and the BACE pods and then manually figuring out where the location of the hatch would be if you don\'t know how to make models (can\'t say I currently do, I don\'t have that kind of time on my hands anymore :\ ). Either way, I\'m sure if you give it enough time, you\'ll see things incredibly similar to these parts in the vanilla game; it\'s not like Nova has gone away or something. (Edit: You need a 3d modeling program to add the hatch texture to the BACE models. You can add the new internals to any of the BACE models, but you won\'t be able to exit.) -
Been pretty fond of this old shot:

While I\'m flattered you liked the simple 'race-stripe-esque' decals I whipped up, I\'m willing to bet the KSP team will be able to come up with something a bit more thought-out and uniform. I\'m thinking many parts by themselves will look fairly plain in the VAB, and the 'Decals' subgroup will let you add your own hazard stickers and fairing decorations.

Zombieweasel isn\'t exactly correct. A radial MechJeb should make the ejected debris it\'s attached to show up as 'YOUR-CRAFT-NAME debris' in the tracking station. I just tested this to make sure. So I\'m not entirely sure what the problem is, but you didn\'t have unrealistic expectations. Are you positive you have a radial MechJeb connected directly to your BigTracks rover? Edit: Just to be painfully clear, my test included a command module with an LFT and the small LFE. Then a decoupler, and a regular LFT and a large LFE, with a MechJeb radial attached to this lower stage. So my command module was on the top stage, and the MechJeb was on the lower stage.

Did you replace your old MechJeb plugin with the new 1.8.4 plugin in your plugins folder? Older versions of the plugin tend to be broken with new parts. I\'ve been having a random problem that springs up every once in awhile. Using the ascent autopilot, my craft will climb to 10km, start pitching over east, and then around 45degrees above the horizon it suddenly pitches my craft west. I haven\'t been able to replicate this on demand though, so I have no idea what is causing it.

Silisko Industries Addon Development - Thread 2

Give it time, Nova is doing FX work this release, in future releases they\'ll probably let him add parts/ideas from his mods to the game. That\'s a lot of the reason he was picked up on the team, I\'m sure. -
0.15 Easter eggs? (Obviously possible spoilers inside)

In this forum. That one was one of NovaSilisko\'s mods, but there are a few excellent ones on that forum. -
Is there a trick to using the hinges with symmetry?

(QUESTION) Geostationary Orbit
zombiphylax replied to mockingking's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
This says it\'s closer to 2868.78km. But still, right around there and you\'ll mimic GEO orbit. -
Congrats, Nova! I came home from a trip and was slightly disappointed you didn\'t have any news, I just want looking in the right direction. Can\'t wait to see what you do with access to the assets and coding. After C7 got picked up, I knew you\'d be coming down the pipe soon enough!

The AIAA Student Design/Build/Fly in KSP
zombiphylax replied to DrBurst's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
What kind of dead weight will you accept? I only ask because stock parts usually perform a function... -
Ok, here you go: Su-37 Super Flanker Taking off is...tricky. I\'d turn on SAS, zip down the runway at full throttle, as the runway ends, pull back hard, and let it bounce off the grass while still pulling back. You should take off after that bounce. Not as maneuverable as the real life counter-part, but definitely flyable, and pretty stable. You\'ll need to adjust trim with alt+s a couple of taps. Download the craft file here!

Shift+q,w,e,a,s,d. Attached one to the hull, straightened it, attached another to the tip of the first, straightened it, yet another to the tip, straighten again, then alt+left-click the first wing to copy the entire assembly. I can try, the Flankers/Fulcrums seem to have balance issues, but I\'ll certainly post it if it\'s flyable.

SpaceX StratoLancher mock-up: Easily gets into orbit with enough fuel for orbital rendezvous. Craft file in this thread -

NASA\'s U-2 variant, the ER-2. More pictures and craft files. -
So I think I might just start dumping my mock-ups here instead of making a new one every day. Su-37 Click here for Su-37 post ER-2/U-2 Figured I would try to make a few of the other NASA experimental craft after the X-31, and after a while of tinkering with wing arrangements, the ER-2 took shape! I feel I\'ve got this mock-up as close as it can get with stock parts. It even comes with detaching wing-tip 'pogos' Approaching altitude: U-2S U-2A You can clearly see the influence of the F-104 in the design of the U-2A, namely, they share the majority of their fuselages. SpaceX/StratoLaunch I know it doesn\'t have 6 engines, but they are too big for this scale, so 4 will have to do. This will easily get you into LKO with a bit of fuel to maneuver around up there. Turn on the SAS, throw the throttle to 100%, pull up at the end of the runway, and you\'ll easily take off. Pull the nose up to ~45 degrees and stay there until ~14km up. At this point eject from the plane (doesn\'t really matter now, but it has the fuel to make it back to KSC...), and ignite the LFE after you\'ve dropped a few meters. Try to point the nose toward the vertical until your trajectory is approaching the 45 degree mark, around then it\'ll switch to 'orbit speed' and you\'ll want to cut your thrust soon and coast to apoapsis. It\'s actually pretty smooth as long as you keep SAS on. Old planes 0.15 planes: MiG-29 (It flies poorly) Rockwell-MBB X-31 (Fun if you have a joystick!) Craft files below: X-31 craft file. (Great little stunt plane, very stable once trimmed). ER-2/U-2 craft files. Stratolanch craft file. Super Flanker craft file.
