Well, I just post the challenges you guys choose your prefered writing technique Btw I think the analogy stops after the space pen. -
BSC - Ravenspear Mk. 1 - And the winner is...

Yes, yes - it's an awesome plane. Sadly it's still a space pen. -
Good, I finally had a good night's rest, after a week of 2-3 hours sleep at night, 2-3 hours sleep in the afternoon.

BSC - Ravenspear Mk. 1 - And the winner is...

Now, I flew every craft once again and theses are my notes: Giggleplex777 - C-7B +description +ladder with toggle -not fan of these intakes +forward swept wings +handles good in low atmosphere +looks mcirish3 - Ravenspear Mk1 Ultra -96 parts -description text does not fit plane ~ladder but no toggle -design is just not very elegant +once it's in the air is flies rather well -need the whole runway to lift of Rhomphaia - Eaglehammer Mk2 +description text +ladder with toggle +compact design +wide landing gear +good part count -a little on the unstable side sploden - Ravenspear Mk1 improved 07 +description text +ladder with toggle +a lot of power +I like it -58 parts is a little high +hotkeys for outer and inner engine (had the same Idea with my plane) It's a awesome combination of a creative but practical design and it flies well. No part-clipping makes it easy to emulate. I think you nailed the challenge zekes - FRAK-1 -103 parts -really? Lots of intakes simply clipped into each other? -no description text +yes, it does fly very well Basically it's extremely overengineered and stuff like several intakes clippes into each other, makes this plane feel like a cheat. Besides, it completely misses the point of the challenge - we are looking for a stock craft. Let me quote from the guidelines: Well, sploden got my vote for the reasons above. On the second place I would like to see Giggle, I really like the C-7B, followed by Rhomphaia. @Zeke: Actually I think you choose the wrong analogy. The problem with your aircraft is, that we are looking for a pencil, you brought a Space Pen. Yes, I know that the story of NASA spending millions on this pen is a hoax. @Tidus Klein: Since you asked for some feedback: -no description text ~ladder but no toggle -several intakes clipped into each other (but at least in a way that looks good) -2 SAS, 4 Batteries, 4 Solar cells -you allready have emergency chutes, why not a abort function? A low hanging fruit -trying to roll while pitching leads to interesting results. I think the plane is a good base with some potential. I'll focus on the negative stuff, because you allready know that she flies high and has lots of power However, there are several things wrong - clipping several intakes into each other feels like cheating to me, also in my mind (as a voter, not as the guy that writes the challenge-rules) is disquallifies for this challenge. This whole battery-SAS-solarpanel-module fells like superflous frills to me. My motto when doing these challenges is allways: Also, if you use a Winglet instead of a cannard as vertical stabiliser, the strange behavior when trying to roll while pitching should vanish. -

From my notes: Rhomphaia - Eaglehammer Mk2 +description text +ladder with toggle +compact design +wide landing gear +good part count So, I'd say you basically did everything right - thats the problem with 22 contenders and a single vote -

didn't have the time test every plane as thoughly, but: Antbin: Nice plane - three engines, six intakes, flies quite well boolybooly: While it flies well, it flames out at ~15km, wich is rather low brobel: As usual - a beautiful plane with to much part clipping DaveofDefeat: Are you kidding me? Also: Are you kidding me? FlandersNed: A neat plane, but its angled down a bit on the runway and I was able to flip it out. Something for the advanced player Giggle: Well, many allready told you, its an awesome plane with forward swept wings, not a big fan of these intakes though GusTurbo: Nice plane, but had flameout at 18km wich is a little low HueHue: So, you build a Draaken replica? Nice plane, but no nearly as maneuvrable as the original. (Actually it's really sluggish) Maybe some cannards? Mesklin: A nice plane - one of my favourites. Construction might be a littile complicated. Sploden: Just a nice plane - good performance, creative but not complicated design, easy to emulate. Lots of power Myself: Maybe I went a bit too basic, construction could have been more...avantgarde. Also she is too sluggish. zekes: Well, it's an awesome plane. But it completely missed the point of the Challenge. Sploden got my vote for the reasons mentioned above - the plane looks good, flies well and nailed the challenge. -

Nobody knows - not even me - but probaly no plane, we've had that twice in a row now. But maybe a plane again, just to throw Captain Sierra off guard! -

Ah, time to enforce national stereotypes: I'm german. *looks at his pocketwatch* And ten hours among friends....are ten hours. But no, seriously: I would have to change the overview collage again and restart the poll again. I'll be happy to see your entry in the next BSC-challenge, but I fear this boat has sailed. -

@Sirine: Haha, no - I laughed my ass off. Anyways - as I'f told you - beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I actually perfer the spoon-version, I know how the plane looks with a normal, circular intake, it was one of the versions in the design process. Also - form follows function - the ram intake is the most efficient one @Tidus Klein: Don't worry - just remeber it for the next challenge As I'm writing this, you still have ~27h to go. -
BSC - Ravenspear Mk. 1 - And the winner is...
Xeldrak replied to Xeldrak's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
@Sirine: Well, beauty is always in the eye of the beholder. When building a BSC, I think that form follows function. And if you look at planes like the MiG-17, you'll see that central intakes were not too uncommon. -
My mother always watched star trek - I'm born 1987, so I basically grew up with TNG. I do not remember a time when I wasn't familiar with the TNG staff. DS9 was "allways there" in my mind aswell. I remember watching Voyager for the first time, when it premiered in germany. So, yeah - I love star trek and if you count our the non-cannon stuff, I think I have a rather extensive knowledge of all things Star Trek (ENT not so much, but some aswell)

I present you my entry, the ChemRock Draco. I had some problems comming up with a submission for this challenge. Earlier designs were.....problematic. But (thx to HueHue) while looking up the Planes for the inspirational pictures, I read about the MiG-25 Foxbat - and after watching a short documentary about it, I knew what I wanted. Like the MiG-25, I went for a very powerfull engine (in my case three turbo-jets) and didn't care about range. After some testing and tuning, I fear the only resemblence the Draco holds with the Foxbat are the two large vertical stabilizers and the shoulder mounted wings. Since it looks more like a Draken from above with its big delta wings, I decided to call it Draco as a small homage to the Saab aircraft. I also added a description and some flavour-text to the description window - I think thats a sign of a thoroughly built KSP craft. Now, the triple-engine setup has some advantages, you can deactive the outer or the inner engines by action groups and change your Intake/Engine ratio. This way you can take the Draco to the outer edges of the atmosphere by flying on a single engine, fed by three ram-intakes without the danger of a asymetrical flameout. Of course the plane has a cockpit ladder with a dedicated action group I added a pair of canards, so the plane hat a little agility in lower atmosphere. It's still quite sluggish, but I think thats fine - it wasn't built for low atmosphere flight. True to it's soviet role model, it's a rugged plane with only 33 parts and no frills. Fully tanked, it holds 900 units of fuel and weighs 11.53 tons. No partclipping whatsoever, as usual. ..and I dearly hope, that they give the Mk2 Cockpit a usable interior in the next update. Sadly, IVA flight are impossible with this cockpit. Download the CR Draco >>HERE<< -
