  1. I used rockets for rescue missions up until today. After unlocking the correct parts I've build a nice two Kerbal SSTO plane for just over √30k. Total fuel cost after recovery: less than √400
  2. If the enigma code is easy to break by any layman then surely it would have been broken in WWII by the hordes of well trained, skilled professionals. Modern computers could probably crack it by brute force but without knowledge of the inner workings it is still a very difficult and well designed code.
  3. Don't waste parts on collecting Kerbin Biome data. Go biome hunting with a plane when you get the necessary parts. Instead of recovering it at a distance fly it back to KSC, land (or park) on the runway and recover for a full 100% refund. It will only cost you some cheap fuel.
  4. Absolutely, totally agree with this suggestion 100%. I accepted a contract to test a decoupler hoping it would give me temporary use of the 2.5m version. The Mun mission I had planned could really use it and would give me more then enough science to unlock it for future use. Guess what I got: the 0.675m version.
  5. Been discussed and asked a few times in the past. As far as I know this is (not yet) possible.
  6. Yes, you can use the magnet that way. I've even used them as makeshift docking ports on a tug to move modules around a station.
  7. The amount of monthly funding could be based on your current reputation. Or perhaps even coupled to mandatory (long term) contracts. Failure results in a drastic drop in funding.
  8. Has been suggested, discussed and modded already: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/50524-0-23-5-Enhanced-Navball-1-3
  9. Doctor, if I push here it hurts. And if I push here it hurts too. Even if I push here or here it also hurts. What's wrong with me. You broke your finger!
  10. How about checking the manual that came with your iPod/iPhone?
  11. Top is USB Bottom looks like iPod/iPhone But the middle, I don't have a clue.
  12. Warning, sarcastic comment: RTFM! http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/44952-Already-Suggested-List
  13. I meant you'll be living in an airtight container. As long as you keep the dangerous stuff outside that you're 'safe'.
  14. L-Cysteine (in the EU marked as E920 or E921) is widely used in the food industry. In particular in the baking of bread. And guess where it comes from: hair. It is even made from HUMAN hair. Enjoy your meal!
  15. The chase car is standard procedure during U2 landings. The chase car is driven by a veteran U2 pilot. Landing a U2 is extremely difficult, the chase car pilot is literally talking the U2 pilot to the ground.
  16. [Alt] + [L] locks staging. I will turn the blinking green stage light in the bottom left red. [space] will no longer trigger staging but you can still manually decouple by right clicking a part. Type [Alt] + [L] again, the red stage light will turn green again and you can stage again as normal. Edit: Ninja'd
  17. I like the 50cal popping up. The model of the vulcan is awesome. And the airborne laser is one hell of a debris buster. But the laser does have one minor flaw. Though it is extremely accurate in any direction, it has great difficulties aiming dead ahead. Edit: I just noticed a potential lethal flaw. In map mode, with a gun still active, it fires on a left mouse click. With absolutely no idea where you're aiming. Perhaps a good idea to disable the trigger in map mode.
  18. That's why you should store them outside and you stay inside. In case of a leak the nasty fumes dissipate into the vacuum of space and you'd still be sitting pretty.
  19. To avoid exploits you might want to limit the number of decouplers/seperators between the slingshot and the Kerbal.
  20. With the new economics and contracts this update will most likely be both save and mod breaking. Time to start fresh again and add mods as they are updated.
  21. No matter the distance I believe the answer will basically be the same. You're talking about a mining station. The main reason for mining off-planet is to get rare resources back to earth. To get those resources back you first need to send a ship from earth to the base. Use that ship to resupply the base. The ship probably uses the same hypergolic starter fuel. Should be pretty easy to give it an over sized tank.
  22. How much would you need? If it's only a small amount each craft can easily carry some. And since you're talking about a mining operation you'll have ships shuttling the produce back and forth to earth. Those ships could re-supply the base with starter fuel. Or Your mining base, is it manned? If it's manned it's probably permanently manned and you'll have greenhouses growing food. Food consists for a large part out of amino acids and proteins: nitrogen. Still, without replacing them somehow you'll deplete the food chain of nitrogen. But your earth-moon produce shuttles can bring in fertilizers.
  23. I do not want to turn this into yet another Pro-MechJeb/Anti-MechJeb discussion but in your case I'd suggest you give MechJeb a try. Not necessarily to have it do the work for you but just to show you how it should be done, MechJeb can be a great teacher when it comes to orbital manoeuvres.
