Crashes to desktop again
Tex_NL replied to FlyingPete's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
True. But ONLY !!! with a 64bit OS. And if you have a 64bit OS you might run KSP64bit as well. -
Unless I'm at the cinema I'd probably chance the channel. I've seen pretty much every alien movie out there. I am convinced there is intelligent alien life out there somewhere in the universe. And yes, there are strange and sometimes unexplainable things happening in the skies. But aliens are not visiting earth. Chances of you actually seeing a real alien are smaller than the chance you'll get hit by lightning twice on the same day as you win the multimillion lottery jackpot.

You can not break what never worked to begin with. The forum search feature has been a total disaster from day 1. Over the past few years many times I have tried to search the forum for something. Only to be, yet again, utterly disappointed as the search simply refuses to complete. By the time I had opened a second browser, typed in the EXACT same search into google and found what I was looking for the forum search was still not finished. Best advice: Don't use the forum search. It's crap, it doesn't work. Use google instead.

Forgot antenna, can an relay solve the problem?
Tex_NL replied to magnemoe's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Yes, a properly placed and powerful enough relay would enable you to stay in control of your asteroid interceptor. However there is a big but. (Isn't there always?) As @bewing already stated probe cores have a build-in antenna, but this antenna is NOT capable of transmitting science. If you want your asteroid interceptor to transmit science back to KSC you'll need to physically attach an antenna to it. -
WRONG!!! You're a perfect 180 degrees off. In orbit mode on the navball at launch the prograde marker faces EAST!

So do my neighbours. (And the red devil sneaks into my home every chance he gets.) What has 'having a cat' to do with computer cases?

My KSP crashes all the time.
Tex_NL replied to FennexFox's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
I hope you're aware you're posting in an almost 4 year old thread. If you want anybody to diagnose your problem it helps if you supply your log files. But in case it is indeed exactly the same as the OP, he was running out of memory. Best option for you at this moment is to start a new thread and supply all relevant info. @TaranisElsu already supplied a link explaining how to obtain that info. -
Not as far as I know. I've never played with RSS. And I never play without KW Rocketry.

Save then try. Fail? Accept failure or reload. Success? Smile. Since we can't see exactly what you're doing it gets very difficult to give you a yes or no. The only way to be sure is just go for it and find out. And if, for RP reasons, you don't want to reload; test it in a separate sandbox game. And call it a 'simulation' by the boys in mission control.

totm aug 2023 What funny/interesting thing happened in your life today?
Tex_NL replied to Ultimate Steve's topic in The Lounge
At work just like every other morning at seven o'clock sharp we receive a truck with fresh produce. And this time of year at seven in the morning it's about 0 C. It's cold. The driver climbs out of his cab. And in this case he's .. well, lets call him multiple shades darker than a healthy sun tan. Please note I am quoting him, I am NOT discriminating. I even toned it down a bit. "Oh man, it's cold." He shivers. "this is no weather for a black guy." Immediately followed by my reply: "Hey, that's pretty much what we say during a heat wave." Both of us nearly lost it laughing out loud. -

Just wondering: You play sandbox-, career- or science-mode. What is sandbox career?

Rover connectivity on Duna
Tex_NL replied to JEB'S DESTINY's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Yes, that's what you want on your rover. But what's preventing you from leaving a RA-2/15/100 in orbit? The communotron 16 talks to the RA-x. The RA-x talks to KSC. -
Rover connectivity on Duna
Tex_NL replied to JEB'S DESTINY's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
As @Snark said: relays. Leave your delivery vehicle in orbit and put a strong relay on it. And in case you're worried it will move out of range or goes over the horizon have it carry a few simple relay satellites and set up a network. -
What is your most facepalm-worthy moment regarding KSP?
Tex_NL replied to MaverickSawyer's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I rarely facepalm playing the game. But I put on my face protector reading the forums. -
Saving games with missing mod parts
Tex_NL replied to tomf's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Absolutely true but it has always been this way for as long as I can remember, about 5 years now. And over those years what you're suggesting has been suggested many times: a simple confirmation window giving you the option to delete and continue. Or quit to menu without saving. But since we're talking about SQUAD you might as well talk to a brick wall. You'll sooner get a responds from that. -
I found a few things you might want to look into: Good to see you have Toolbar support. It's purely because I recognized the ScieneAlert sound that I knew it was correctly installed. Before I added ScienceAlert to my toolbar it was NOT visible. And I can not seem to find any setting NOT to use toolbar if I wanted to. Right clicking the flask gives me the options menu. If I want to I can move this window to a more convenient location on my screen. Left clicking the flask gives me the science window. This window can NOT be moved. This is more a cosmetic wish rather than a flaw. While the option to make the grey KSP skin partially transparent helps a lot. An option to use the black unity skin would be even nicer.

@TiktaalikDreaming I just ran a test with your new .cfg under the same conditions as before. My test rocket performed just as it should and reached orbit with the same 162m/s left in the tanks. I believe you've nailed it.

Why my game crash after 10min playing?
Tex_NL replied to KranSmith's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
Out of RAM. Install more, loose mods and use 64bit. Really. Why did I EVER bother starting a FAQ when NOBODY ever reads it?
